Yes.. the stress gets to me.. so I just stop looking for answers and realize that my peace means more.. I will bake meals for my family and neighbors and get busy with rearranging my home.. organizing my preps..,busy hands will take care of my tension..
on a recent garden answer video, she takes the lid off of seedlings when the first little green sprout shows on a seedling.
I always wait till the majority of sprouts come up. The trouble is if you plant different things in the tray. I took two lids off tonight, as one had lots of green on the surface. Why one and not the other?

I lightly pruned my grape vine this afternoon since it did not rain and was pretty fair and warm-ish here in the Arizona desert. I had heavily pruned last year. Have not yet started seeds but will soon. Wishing Darrell a wonderful birthday.

It was years ago but this always stuck in my mind. Marianne Williamson on her channel from HayHouse Radio had once an interview with Mary Temple Grandin aka the "Animal Whisperer". They discussed gardening because Grandin had written a "Gardening for Beginners" PDF book one could download. Grandin mentioned that the Loofah plant was a deterrent for deers. The reason was unknown to her as why but deers are frightened of Loofah plants and she was recommending planting some to protect gardens.

@bettyfreckles Hm, well, I was going to plant it on my arched trellis as that is the best place to let it climb and go over. And it will be fenced in. But, great to know.

I forgot to mention....my relaxing in the winter is baking. Today I made a double batch of black berry nut muffins. Then I watch some of my favorite chefs and learn how to make pastries and all kinds of stuff. Then I make them. Tommorrow I am making thumbprint cookies. I just learned how to make shortbread cookie. Fun stuff.

I’m 65 and live by myself and I’ve been trying to warn my adult kiddos and it just seems like they are too busy to think about it!! Im prepared as much as possible.. I do garden and I love it.. Hi there… I’m so glad I caught the back end of your video yesterday! So, yes, I worked for American Airlines out at Washington Dulles (IAD) and we had 3 nonstop flights a day to/from LAX. I was an airport Operations Agent meaning I was in charge of everything at the gate, the ticket counter or baggage. I was usually at the gate working that wide body (held 300 people) to LAX cuz I could get the plane out on time 99% of the time where other agents, some who made more than me, couldn’t do it. So 5 nights a week or 5 mornings a week I was rubbing elbows with the “elite” Hollywood, D.C. politics & or 3 letter agencies. I could tell you stories which would make your hair curl or make your sides hurt we’d be laughing so hard! My years of reference are 1992-1995 and my Ted Danson story is this.. most Hollywood we kept hidden in the Admirals Club until just before the plane door closed and then they boarded. I was following behind him to close the aircraft door, he was dressed in sweats. The pants crotch was so low it was almost at his knees, he had on a sweatshirt and a ball cap which he took off to scratch his head. I almost tripped because all of us loved his full head of hair, right? He was what men wanted for a head of hair much like Kristy Alley for women, yes? I could see straight through to his scalp, I mean, he had hair, but it was so sparse that I could see his scalp, all over, not a spot here or there. Kind of like a toddler who hasn’t had all their hair come in yet. I quickly said a prayer saying, “please God, please don’t let that happen to me, please God” … but all of us age, some harder than others. He was pleasant, a nice guy, nothing wrong there. I was just shocked at how he “really” looked and thought that maybe he wore a wig or maybe they sprayed his scalp… who knows…. Oh, I have so many stories I could tell. Oh yeah! I saw that episode of Redacted with the home gardens section. I actually saved the photo that they were using of someone's garden with the vegetable beds and the greenhouse in the background. I liked that they only left a small space between the beds and it inspired me to make high raised beds with little space between them. I do want one section of raised beds with a bit more space to put a cattle fence hoop between the two and use it to grow a tomato arbor that I can walk under similar to the one the guy made in this video: czcams.com/video/XtW2rd2oJOo/video.html
I urge you to have more than 18" between beds as I did that in my tiny CA garden and could not turn my foot sideways when I was in there!
You have seen my cattle panel arched trellis made last year? I didn't utilize it properly, but I will this year.

Oh, Lord of mercy, yes! I got some big ol' clodhoppers, and when I'm talkin' "little space", I mean like two feet between raised beds. It all depends on how much space you have and how much you wanna grow. Now, like your friend Darrell, when I hear him talking about wasted space and I see all the room he's got to spread out I wonder why he is concerned about losing a few inches here and there.

Don't know if I saw that or not. I did a search for "cattle" but didn't find your cattle panel trellis, just Darrell's garden of trellis'. I'll be patient and wait for the upcoming video. Spring should be coming soon in TN. I lived in Kentucky all my young years and the first week of February the daffodils would start sending up their leaves alongside the southern exposure side of the smokehouse outside the back porch.
I have to admit I've only started following you in the last year so I don't know all about your doings on your TN homestead. You got and crocus or snowdrops trying to peek out yet?
