    Hej.

Hej.

It´s nice to see this first video of a new ride from you. I like the drone recordings very much! So you get a good overview of the countryside and the train too. Your explanations complement the picturs perfectly and make the special appeal of your videos. Thank you for upload and I am already looking forward to the further course of the journey.

The freight trains here in Canada are usually 200 cars long about 2 km & have maybe 5 locomotives including 1 in the middle. Thanks for posting video. Very educational.

Ahhh, so THAT is what the line looks like on that mysterious track curving northbound out of Hønefoss ! Viewers of a certain other channel (maybe you don't want me to mention the name) have been along for the ride on the other three routes several times, so for this train nut, it's great to finally see part of the fourth one. (And if you ever know that you will be going farther north on this branch, don't hesitate to bring your camera!)
I will definitely be looking forward to the rest of this trip.

Thx for you comment! If you follow the tracks on google earth you see they go quite a bit up there. A friend of mine drives to the factory up there called Spenncon. Where they make concrete railroad sleepers. Maybe i can fly closer with my drone. Thx for the tip.

Greetings from California. I just joined your channel. I watch videos from 2 other train drivers in Norway. They are both in passenger service so it’s a nice change of pace to see some freight operations.
As others have mentioned, I prefer hearing the sounds of the locomotive instead of music.
I really enjoy all the maps and drone shots. It really puts things into perspective. Thanks for posting.
If you can attach filters to your camera lens, try a polarizing filter. By turning the ring on the filter, you can remove unwanted reflections.
    Have a good one!
    Dave

Nice video! I visited the area (Follum), where the timber terminal is, about twenty years ago. There was a pulp mill then wich is now all gone. As I used to work in one of the two big cartoon board factories in western Sweden it is nice to to see where some of the "Norwegian Wood" comes from.

Thanks for posting, and thanks for your excellent explanations of the little details of the operations. One question: if you are in your locomotive at the front which is pulling, and your colleague at the back is pushing, how do you coordinate between each other?

    • @thenorwegiantraindriver4788
      @thenorwegiantraindriver4788  Před 3 lety +2

Hi, and thx for commenting. Often the back driver knows when to push. Its only necessary up the "steapest" hills. But most times we communicate via our mobile phones. We can also use the train radio. Railways in Europe got their own GSM network. It works everywhere there is a track :D

Nice video, and good commentary. Interesting to see how things work over there. The drone footage was defenitly a bonus! I'm visiting Hønefoss soon and would like to photograph some trains over there, especially the Cargonet trains. I saw in other videos that freight trains stop there a lot, is there a driver or loc change for in the mountains? Or is it just a busy corridor.

Thx so much for your comment. I know Cargonet got facilities there. We used them when i was a student in 2016. How they do it with the drivers now days i dont know. I have seen some Cargonet drivers at the hotel in Hønefoss tho. I dont know if you are norwegian or knows about alot of railroad stuff, but im planning to do a video about our tools as drivers. One of those are called "graphical routes" Its not easy to read if you have not seen them before, but this one is from Hønefoss to Bergen today www.banenor.no/dailygraphs/2021/20210605/DG_286.pdf

@@thenorwegiantraindriver4788 Is the graphical route chart a way to visualize gradients, curve speeds, station locations and other route particulars that affect how you will operate your train? We use something similar called a Timetable in the USA, but it's not as simplified as what a passenger might get. Our timetable shows a lot of information, like maximum speeds through certain areas, lengths of passing tracks, authorized operating limits, mountain gradients and much more.
