Based on the headlight and grille on the front, that looks like a mid 70s Vauxhall Viva. Great find! Completely underrated, man. Classic and solid, like the rest in this channel! Tried and true.
I had one of these HC's for about ten years .... Such a simple car to work on ..... An OHV masterpiece; stripped the engine and gearbox and so simple replacing worn parts .... Fuel pump was right alongside the engine and lots of room for working space .... Brilliant car.
My first car was a white viva, bought it in 1980 last 2 years before I had to scrap it, I remember you set the valve clearances with the engine running !!
That old thing looks really quite solid for a Vauxhall of that era, especially given it's sat abandoned for so long. If it was mine I'd honestly do any structural work and get it safe/reliable to drive and leave the cosmetics the way they are, it has a great patina i think.
Wow,, the old Viva is in great shape for 40 yrs old ,, Vauxhalls were notorious for being rust buckets,, this model turned into a Holden Torana in Australia but with a sweet little 6 cyl ,, 138 cubic inch motor ,,
In Germany we use to call these engines the "Opel Sewing machine" because of the small size, the sound it made when idling and due to the fact that Opel were making sewing machines before they started to make automobiles.
I think that a same one was my first car..a four gear and rear wheeled Opel Kadett 1200 cc ( this is the name used in my country) but with round headlights,I think mine was a 1974 first license and I bought it as a student at early 00's for about 300euros.. I loved it and didn't care if the others used modern cars ( with ac and dynamic steering) , was MY car and was happy by just driving it.. Thanks for your video
Mr Flexiny - can you please wear rubber gloves with vehicle fluids. My friend's dad died of skin cancer from years of letting petrol, brake fluid and general oily stuff run onto his hands. Most fluids in a car are carcenogenic.
Davers is right. Our skin acts as a barrier to most things, but many solvents can cross the skin barrier. Any toxins that are dissolved in the solvents are taken along for the ride, where adsorb into fat. The chemicals are then released into the blood stream over time, leading to chronic exposure.
Vaxhaul sitting there long time needs everything paint job detail inside and out tires also European vehicles this guy has experience of cars and trucks learn from him awesome video bless you
Distributor cap, rotor arm and a set of points, those were the days, the days when you could easily work on your own car so simple, good job guys, used to have one of these a 1.3 estate version, very reliable :)
My dad used to have an HC Viva, I think in this colour too, loved the slim wrap-around tail lights on them, something pretty unique that just isn't seen today... :) And those seatbelt latches, goodness me, that's pretty flaky engineering!!! :S
Lol Vauxhalls were always known for their RUST ! Such a small engine . The battery is as big 🤣 . Mind you my father used to have a 1979 Opel Kadett C Series ( sapphire special ) saloon . Full perferated leather interior and heated windows . Was an amazing car and I loved it so . Had such a distinct sound when on the move . Rust In Peace DGW 3 T 💔 One day it hit 88 mph after a Dennis Weaver style ( duel ) with a Lorry on the A 21 to Hastings . Sadly it never went Back in Time 😄
That one seems to have quite a sound body. Video doesn't show what it is like underneath but if the major body panels are sound that is is a good start. Very rare car in the UK today, Fords were always more popular. I actually saw one today in Bampton, Devon. The two door estate. Really super rare and I hope that one is restored.
@@richardsmart120 Moggies are s perfect example of British cars that are indestructible, no wonder there's still so many about nearly 50 years after production ended

These were lovely little engines, reliable and easy to service and maintain. That looks a low mileage find, well done.
Ive had a few of these over the years. lucky if they started after 20 days. impressed you started it after 20 years . well done !!
Wow! What a classic! We had 1974 Vauxhall Viva 1.1L 33 years ago. This car is like a tank
I always love watching videos of you guys starting old cars. great video!

it's not technically a vauxhall tho. the victor HE was the last pure built vauxhall
@@chloedevereaux1801 FE? Shame the way the industry went, although being into French cars I'm not too sore that PSA now own Vauxhall lol ;)

Absolutely astonishing to get this run.

The GM produced Opel models for Great Britain under Vauxhall name.
Hey nice job, nice to see the old girl get a second chance. I'd love to get a classic car myself one day. Take care
I had one of these back in the day - great little car!
Used to go well when fitted with a Weber 28/36 progressive twin choke carb!
such a small engine and such an awesome sound.. I just cant dislike old cars.... Old is quality, beauty, sound!
Loved the Vauxhall Vivas. Great video Sir.
My Dad had one of these tanks in the 70s, We went to so places on holiday ,such great memories.
Brings back old memories, I remember 2 different families in the early to mid 90s with similar cars.

@@yensabi : You're a lot worse.
I bought one of these for 30 quid back in 1975. Very economical and cheap to run with a 1.2 cc, engine...
Just brilliant to a viva hc engine running again after 20 years spot on
Great reliable workhorses, I’ve had three in my lifetime and never had any serious issues with them, unlike my many Fords 😀
If you have so many issues with Fords why do you keep buying them?
@@mrdantruckerman Because they were cheap and I could work on them myself, I'm talking 1970s, I was on a low income and they were numerous in my town.

Reminds me of the old "Viva" cabs that I would take from Corby in England back to RAF Alconbury.
Well done, this was one of my first cars 🚗
Oh wat a BABY! these cars have so much character
That you could walk around the engine in the engine bay was a great advatange back in the day.
Good job getting it running
One of my favorite British cars. Just love the body style
VAUXHALL and OPEL💪💪💪
Nice video and nice job👍

Are you being sarcastic or for real about the reliability?
@@sheldonlamey7010 being serious, mine never let me down 👍
I had no doubt it would run. Old Vauxhall/Opel engines are bulletproof. Sadly most of the cars rotted away way too fast.
Very nice, i like to watch your videos
From an old corvair guy I know that feeling. Good show.
i served my apprenticeship on these! many tales to tell.

A Firenza would be a nice find too.
Wow atleast you have a tonne of room to work. Amazing how much space there is

One day it hit 88 mph after a Dennis Weaver style ( duel ) with a Lorry on the A 21 to Hastings . Sadly it never went Back in Time 😄
I haven't seen an old viva for a long time. The racing 1256 motor with the distributor shaft that always got wobbly making it hard to set the points.
Back in the day I had the Magnum and Firenza versions of the viva. 30+ years ago mind
Nice job!
My neighbour has one of them fully restored 😊
My dad had a Viva just like this!
Legend says, he still drives that car today.
Nice work.
woooow, didnt know that you have unicorns like this in your collection :0 and that focus, beautiful contrast xd
one of the finest car this planet...
Good job.I love you flexiny
I saw this car in an advertisement for "okidoki" i and thought to buy. Now I know where rare cars come from.
That's how Vauxhalls sound from new on a frosty day.
Time to have it restored. It’s frustrating to see classics rotting away.
They started rotting while at the factory.
Wow 20 yrs . Nice video
That's been off the road longer surely

I used to tow a boat with a HC Viva

Good job
Молодцы парни!
Why didn't they put the engine in the glove compartment?
harryoakley it would make to much longer to find it when it was time for service.
Ha ha :)
Same engine as a Chevette and has a simple engine bay too. Good to see old cars running again.
00pp
Nope - this was Vauxhall's own design engine wise too. The next gen Vauxhall, also called Chevette like the US counterpart had a GM engine.
@@piuthemagicman I know and it was Vauxhall's last engine and it was their last original car before they went badge engineered with Opel.
Prfeckt bravoo🤗🤗🤗
Looks quite clean! (Sees underbonnet shot) OOF!
Besides the battery tray being rotten it's remarkably clean
In South Africa it was called a Chev Firenza
Just like a Holden Torana from same Era ( old torana is based on this ) For a car that been sitting so long shes in good nic.
My first 2 cars were Vauxhall Vivas 😀
Are all of the cars in the field yours?
Banged together in Ellesmere Port
Lovely British car
Cool car
Those engines are bulletproof. Even with NO engine oil in em at all they would not seize soon.
Bonne voiture pour le drift 😏
