    Whats up!! I'm deciding between a austin slip on or the full akra, I notice with stock that the throttle has a little delay, thoes this improve with the akra? You said on a comment that it's harder to power wheelie in 3rd gear so did you lost some low rpm torque? I really prefer low rpm torque than high rpm speed improvement

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey man! I meant it wheelies more and easier in 3rd gear. I didn’t notice any delay in the throttle response with the stock map and certainly none of that with the Akra. You won’t have lack of torque with this system in any rpm, that I can tell you for sure.

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      @@DrPOV This is debatable, slipon is a slipon, you spend less, but you get what you pay for. For me the full titanium system was certainly worth it, but for some other people may not, especially if budget is tight. My main motivation is sound, looks and weight loss, in that order. Stock fuel map was nice enough for me (*not always the case), so Akra map and power gains were not much of a consideration for me, although any gains there is always nice.

      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      @@EpiceverythingProductions Thats the way to go. It is not bad. rear is all very straight forward, the front a bit less so. You will need to raise the tank just a few inches, put a piece of wood underneath to keep it elevated a little, then dig out blinker connectors from where they are connected into the harness. They are in these rubber enclosures of sort. marked red and green like the lights on the boats and planes. Then you chop and connect from there, running wires into the area around the battery to your relay. It took me about 2 hrs I would say. Good luck and yes, use that thread on the forum for guidance.

      Power gains are marginal, but I think it gained top end. It wheelies harder in 3rd gear full throttle acceleration than before. I did measure 0-60 mph with my Aim Solo DL2 GPS lap timer and stock it was 3.19 sec and with Akra it is 3.22 sec. so no gains in stand still launch. I think it tries to wheelie harder perhaps and that electronics maybe better calibrated for stock. Not sure, but once you get going it does seem to gain some power

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 2 lety

      Hi. I am of an opinion if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Suspension on this bike stock is really good. On this particular bike for street use only I find standard settings as the best, even for the most aggressive style of running. I ran both sport and standard recommended settings for a great deal of time and I always come back to standard , although sport is great too. It is more comfortable in standard and also more compliant on most road surfaces that are less than ideal. The only thing I changed was steering dampener, stock dampener wasn’t good enough for my kind of use. I run upgraded adjustable WP dampener and it is great. I actually just dropped off the bike at authorized WP suspension shop to rebuilt the entire suspension using only stock components. Bike has about 12000 miles and my rear shock started to leak. I also felt suspension was overdue for some maintenance. PS. For race use and serious track riding this is where more work and upgrades, changes are needed. I do it only if I feel the need, for all mods for that matter. My 2 cents.

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, you need a tune. It comes with the exhaust. In 1-2 gears, this bike has more power that can be used stock, so any extra won’t be any useful or noticeable. 0-60 mph acceleration will be exactly the same. Weight difference is marginal to make a difference. I measured with Aim Solo DL2. I think the only place where I noticed some power gain was in 3rd gear WOT. The bike just stands up on the rear wheel really quick. This is probably closer to 90 MPH. Maybe there is some performance gain at higher than 90 MPH speeds, but it can be only be measured. • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      I put on a new set of Supercorsa TD (this is North America specific «track day” tire). We are able to get really good pricing on them here. That’s one reason. I didn’t have an issue with the rear S-22, but I definitely wanted more grip for the front. Front S-22 tends to push under hard braking, making ABS kick in. I don’t like that feeling. I want my rear wheel to come off the ground into a stoppie without any loss of traction and ABS action on the front. Supercorsas easily allow that. The bike just stands on the nose. I didn’t like changing to a taller profile rear (60 vs 55) , but TDs no longer come in 200/55. So far I didn’t have an issue with that, but it didn’t improve my 0-60 mph time despite better grip. Supercorsa is a grippier tire, but will wear out most likely sooner. I am also a Pirelli fan and run their slicks also.

This is my 6th system from them, 5 on different bikes and 1 on BMW M3 (E92). That V8 M3 sounded insane with full Evo system, and I tried 4 different others on that car and kept coming back to Akra. Their leadership in racing, particularly in MotoGP, level of craftsmanship, titanium alloy and sound is just second to none IMO, that's why I keep buying it. For example this exact GP-style conical muffler aka can is from 2012 MotoGP title winning Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha YZR-M1. To people like me, this is like "say no more".

      It does shake quite a bit when you are hard on the gas with the front wheel catching a lot of air and on rough roads. It is never dangerous , but I didn’t like this lack of stability with the stock non-adjustable steering dampener. I upgraded steering dampener to WP adjustable option and run it almost all the way closed. The steering doesn’t seem to be any heavy and it solved stability issue for me. Switching suspension to a more sporty setting also helps to give it more stability under hard acceleration, but I love riding it aggressively so for me extra spend on adjustable steering damper was worthy

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety +1

      @@MridhulIyer yeah, typically steel headers don’t get hot enough to change into pretty color. Titanium alloy is a different story. Some people color Ti with a torch, but I am not a fan of that. This right here is its natural coloring, the hotter the pipe the more blue it is. I did run the bike at high rpm without overheating the engine to make it richer 👌

    • @TheSuperpod
      @TheSuperpod  Před 3 lety

      I put 7000 miles on it. Had a few things, all were fixed under warranty. 1) Rear cylinder head cover gasket leak. 2) Nut holding clutch pack on the shaft got loose, clutch lever felt like brake lever when it happened. oil pressure dropped also. clutch plates turned blue and had to be replaced due to this. They replace gear box shift shaft at the time of this work - this was a service bulletin. 3) steering head bearing needed adjustment recently. I think issues can come up with 2020 or even later year models, but as long as you have some warranty I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this bike. It is amazing.
