How do you feel about this latest Nintendo Switch 2 leak? It's definitely one of the best we've heard about for sure I think. Really hoping it's true!

hdr is xenoblade 3 would be amazing. having played the game at 4k 60 ultrawide with added hdr through my tv setting i can say it would be the best showcase for it as the particles in that game really pop.
I'm fine with paying for an upgrade. That's still more consumer-friendly than locking out all Switch games from the Switch 2.
I'm going to be real if the nintendo Switch Successors doesn't support backward compatibility. I'm not going to buy it at release, and maybe even not at all.
I already have a bunch of switch games that I didn't get the chance to play yet, and if I need to buy them again to have them on the new console, or cant play them at all, I will just play them on my switch.
Why would it be anti consumer if they charge a fee for an improved version? People work on them so we pay them for the work they do. But it would be super anti consumer if backwards compatibility is blocked by a paywall even though it works natively and meant to be a feature.
If the T239 rumors are true, then BC might be achieved with a compatibility layer, similar to Yuzu's NCE. I assume that it would be a solution made inhouse by Nvidia so compatibility might be very reliable. the added hardware specs might also solve unintended frame drops, just like PS5 with some PS4 games.
Of course, if developers bypass the compatibility layer and make native Switch 2 versions then they would run much more efficiently. And I think it's a case by case basis. Remember that this is the same company that charged to upgrade NES games from Wii to Wii U.

The one thing i want the most is for past cloud games on switch to have a physical release on switch 2. It would be great to play re7 or re village to play on the go and kingdom hearts trilogy on switch 2 would be amazing too. That is something i want for Nintendo switch 2. Plus i would like to see re4 remake as a launch title.

Based on nintendo timeline it's too many features too fast. Losing to many buyers due to higher prices, I expect cheap edition and normal edition of console. Oled should be default in normal and led in cheap one. But I would love if rumours true.
Few things that need to happen with this console:
Better performance games. (Zelda TOTK 40-60fps)
Backwards compatibility: physical/digital.
Joycon rail backward compatibility: for the few of us who bought the amazing Mobapad M6 HD 😂😢
Just a personal opinion, but i do think it'll be highly likely for there to be backwards compatibility. From a business standpoint it makes sense as then people with huge collection of switch 1 games will be incentivised to buy switch 2 due to improved specs yet can still play the old switch 1 games (+ the new switch 2 games), boosting sales number.
Take this with a grain of salt tho since i don't know much about nintendo past history or past business model.
What do you think about the update being free for switch online members?
My friend and I have been theorizing that this will be the case with Pokémon Scarlet/Violet. They may be among the first games to receive the upgrade patch. We have speculated the performance issues were because the games were developed with a Switch 2 spec dev kit. But they had to be downscaled when the pandemic hit and Nintendo probably delayed Switch 2 production.
That would explain why Switch doesn't seem to be able to handle the games smoothly. Switch wasn't meant to run it in full framerate. It's like those classic move of porting an Xbox/PS3 games to Wii.
But just a theory. We'll see for sure, and I won't be surprised if that's the case.
It's not that Pokemon scarlet/violet doesn't run well because it was made for the next switch. It's just a poorly designed game. It was not made for the next console. And I'd bet money that the next console isn't going to change much of anything for the performance of scarlet/violet because the issue was not hardware limitations. Gamefreak made the game poorly.

Like everyone else I hope it has backwards capability the only thing is is would it be like the Nintendo Wii and GameCube they only do it for the first like 10,000 units and after that they won't do it anymore😢
Maybe just very good AI upscaling for Switch games and no need to patch or anything?
Realistically, I can see them charging fees depending on how much work is put into the upgrades. For example, if Nintendo actually did some major reworks of models and textures as part of an upgraded version of BOTW or TOTK, they might charge for it, because it would require actual man hours to commit to such a patch, whereas a simple recompile of the executable, along with an unlocked framerate and DLSS patch might be free. Of course, you know some companies would milk, even that most basic aspect of it.
They will probably pump up the resolution and lock the fps to 60 on these games. I bet $50 they will not do anything else

With BotW and ToTK they can increase the texture definition but also the foliage density, which will make a huge difference. Same with WoW Classic.
A kinda anti consumer move I can see Nintendo doing is making basic enhanced versions of Switch 1 First Party games just with improved resolutions up to 4K (Base resolution upped to 1080p then upscaled to 4K via DLSS) and improved framerate with HDR and if you pay for Switch Online Expansion then you'd get a more upgraded version with better everything visuals across the board. Gotta improve Switch Online Expansion sales somehow and tbh that isn't that bad.

Launch titles suggestion: a mario maker game, a mario kart (they last the console's lifecycle; until the internet is discontinued)
another possibility is that enhanced backwards compatibility (on 1st part games) could be tied into a paid nintendo account.
What is BC but they use the 3D Nand carts for upcoming games to load bigger game so not to waste precious Switch 2 internal storage.
Free enchancement upgrades for Switch2 would somewhat drive down the current second hand trading of the games because people would hang on to their physical games after comoletion just to be able to play them on Switch2.
Personally I'm no collector and am always willing to trade my played games for new ones.
what this needs the most is a damn voice chat room to play with friends and communicate aint no way we're in 2024 and nintendo still has not figured that out not a stupid phone app no on uses.
Actually, a small upgrade fee would NOT be the worst case scenario. Worst case scenario would be charging full price for the upgrade, akin to TLoU P1. I don't mind the $5-10 upgrade fees.

So if this rumor turns out to be true, that would mean that Nintendo might move into a cellphone like model and they could end up updating and doing DLC for old games. They would need to port smash, they would only need to update ultimate and they could do a new character pass.
With the way Ultimate ended, I doubt we're going to be getting anything more. Also, they could just rerelease Ultimate as Ultimate Deluxe and just be a basic enhanced version with all the DLC and improved visuals (hopefully with better netcode).

@@RainSpitter I mean an Amiibo is expected and the spirits aren't entirely new characters. I mean I'd like if they were to add more characters in a Deluxe version in the future but I don't think it's happening, maybe we just get updated character skins and stuff.

I would personally not bother paying more than 30€ for an upgrade in my Switch 1 games (3 games then). A free patch/longer update would be ideal

U guys r right it been 7 years for the switch n the year of march of 2024 because the switch was released n the year of 2017 and we don't count the year of 2017 the first year of the switch was 2018 for the anniversary for the first year release so it been at7 years the switch and the switch2 will last tell the year of 2027 or maybe longer tell the year of 2033 for the last year of the switch and switch 2 tell the next handheld console n release tell the year of 2034 and I hope the switch2 will cost like around $400 to $450 instead of$500and the switch2storage I want is 200gb of storage so the switch2 can play more triple AAA games like GTA5OR GTA6 and I hope the switch2 will last5more then 5to8hours on the switch2 of battery life.

lol at the idea that, if next gen patches exist, they should or could all be free. Is anyone seriously expecting nintendo to take the financial hit of effectively subsidising literally any third party dev who wants to upgrade their existing product?
If there’s any truth to this enhanced version of existing switch games thing, it’ll 100% be case by case, devs and publishers will make their own choices about whether to bother releasing enhanced versions and if so, whether or not to charge. Maybe it’ll be a free patch, maybe it’ll be paid dlc, maybe it’ll be an entirely new full priced remaster, or maybe they’ll just not bother.
Im not paying more money for my game to be enhanced after already spending 70 dollars on totk
Even if this is true it’ll be like $375-$400 so unless it is as powerful or more than the steam deck, I’m not even gonna put it on my radar.

I need to keep asking, what's the point of a Switch 2. You're not gonna compete with Sony's graphics on a handheld, to do so is to sacrifice it's nature as a handheld, Sony's hardware generates much more heat and requires much more power than the Switch or even the Steam Deck, you're not gonna compete with it ever unless you go back to the Wii U formula and make the handheld a separate family of devices.
In either case such a machine is dead-on-arrival. TOTK just came out so you're not gonna get another Zelda for 3 years most likely, you might get another Mario but what is Mario gonna do that's gonna justify purchasing another console? 4K support is great for the 5% of Switch gamers that even own or care about 4K displays. But again, what are you catering this to? What's the point? Another $400 brick that's still not as powerful as the PS5? So you can play an upscaled Zelda that's still not gonna look as good as the emulated versions on PC?
Pitch this thing to me seriously, cause i don't understand why i should buy one over just keeping my current Switch that still works absolutely fine

LMAO it's absolutely NOT going to be a 4k display on a handheld. That is just EXTREMELY greedy. Handhelds will NEVER be on par with desktops or laptops. That is the cold hard truth. Even the Steam Deck and ROG Ally can rly only handle 4k60 in 2D games and other super basic games while docked
720p handheld gaming isn't going anywhere anytime soon, neither is 30fps gaming on handhelds (unless there's FSR3). This even applies to PC Handhelds. Battery tech is just NOT enough to handle 1080p gaming, let alone 4k, and provide a competent handheld/portability experience
If Nintendo DOES make the handheld's display higher than 720p, then you can expect less performance and batterylife/playtime, bcuz that's all you will get out of it. And if the game resolution is gonna be 720p anyways, then it'll look worse on a display that's higher than 720p
When it comes to handhelds, it's all about Performance and Power Efficiency. Something only lower resolutions will provide over higher resolutions
Unless battery tech can keep up and provide a competent handheld/portability experience, going above 720p in 2024 (or earlier) is just PURE greed. Biting off more than they can chew
I can only see Nintendo just improving the hardware at the very least. When it comes to playing current NS games, they'll likely focus more on Quality than Quantity. Meaning you're still gonna be playing 30fps, but the game will look so much better and likely be a lot more stable under graphically intense scenarios. But who knows, maybe they'll add a 'performance' and 'quality' mode

4k would be nice docked, but there will not be a lot of games running at 4k unless the next Nintendo console is on par with something like the ROG Ally or higher, and we know it won't even meet the same level as the Steam Deck
You also have to consider games, as well. BoTW/ToTK, XC, and many other would not be 4k at all. Not without sacrificing graphical quality and performance for the sake of higher resolution
I think 1080p docked will remain. Just more powerful hardware, improved games visually and in performance/stability. If anything, there'll probably be some upscaling, but IDK about 4k. That seems a bit extreme
