This is sounding pretty interesting...how would you feel if Nintendo took this approach to the Switch 2 handheld & docked performance? 👀
I think its good. The handheld will make comprises its going to have to but I do think people forget it only has to get to 1080p 60 fps with the help of DLSS.
I think some people are going to be shocked
16gb of RAM will make me happy I hope they go this route with the Nintendo switch 2

I am starting to think the new Gimic is actually a good docking mode. The current dock is just a USB hub. If the new dock can provide more power and cooling to enable a performances mode with a higher power limit, and they can embed an upscaler in the dock for better FPS/resolution/graphics, it will not only let Nintendo sell a cheaper variant without a dock (because some of the production cost will move from the device itself to the dock), which will fill the place of the Switch Lite, but this version could be upgraded by buying the official dock at a later date or even by buying the variant with the dock for another family member. This could be a great option for families like those who bought multiple Switches for different family members.
Not to mention it opens up an option for a mid-gen refresh that is more efficient (like the red box version) so it could use less power and produce less heat. By doing that, it could perform like the release version Switch 2 in dock mode while in handheld mode. So new games that require more performance could still run great while docked on the release version, but if you mostly play handheld, you could get the new version for the better handheld experience (longer battery life or better performance). This version could also include an OLED screen and be presented as a version that is more expensive that provides a better handheld experience.

A large gap in power between docked and undocked is easily the best approach to visuals, especially if the differential is used to push 4k resolutions while docked, and the rest of the hardware kind of agrees with this. If anyone's worried about visuals just go look at Xenoblade 3 in 4k, and think that there's still ample room to boost all facets of the games visual fidelity as well as being able to hit 60fps.
I think the "Attach" will be a feature of Switch 2. The base system is as powerful as possible, then you can buy seperate attachments on your own. 2nd screen for wiiU and 3DS compatibility comes as an attachment. Extended battery life, VR, RAM expansions like the N64 expansion pack, and who knows what else can be sold as a seperate attached. Keeping the base system cost lower, and more room for baseload graphical power.
Thats my prediction, ill be $5 on it lol. Time will tell

So nvidea are going to go out of there way to make a weaker tegra complete rubbish not only is the new chip custom its custom I a way that clearly further improves performance I hope you realise tegras are 4gf ai core rt core soc s now its litterally impossible for switch 2 to not be impressive...the gpu alone is a good 2 gens ahead of ps5s amd rnd 1.5 level its in amd terms at least rdna 3... the entire switch 2 api system is ai core ai software dlss based
Personally, I would love for it to be better in docked mode, and with all this power towards performance, I can't wait to see how the games are going to run like hopefully we won't be getting cloud versions of 3rd party games glad Nintendo is actually trying to make console with some power behind it.
Hope we get a peek at it soon or at least a codename.
