  • NOTE: These are videos of model roller coasters that are built as a hobby. They are not for sale. There are no instructional videos. This model was built using .030 thick Styrene plastic for the track, aluminum tubing for the track support spine and wooden dowels and bass strips for the structure. Train bodies were built by Rene Jamich of Germany, a master ride model builder. The wheels are modified HO scale wheels.
After almost 9 months of continuous construction, the model of The Great American Revolution that opened in 1976 at Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA is finally done. It was the first roller coaster to feature a vertical loop in the modern era, and was the largest steel roller coaster in the world at the time. This model features a first; a working floodlight system around the circuit and chaser lights. As with all of my models of real life coasters, it is not to scale (It's higher and longer than the actual Revolution), due to gravity and speed not being able to scale down, This is not a perfect exact recreation, but rather a model that captures the spirit of the real ride as it appeared in 1976.
This was one of my “ultimate” coaster models that I had wanted to build for a long time. I like many, first became aware of the Revolution through the 1977 movie, “Rollercoaster!”. It was a very complicated model to build, and came apart in 3 pieces for transport.

WOW!!! My heart just skipped a happy beat watching this video! This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I can't say thank you enough! Revolution has always been my favorite! Its always been fantastic to look at,....the pacing of the ride,...the layout,...the way they used the terrain to design the ride,....you even captured that amazing first drop that,..though its not a huge drop,..it always takes my breath away when riding Revolution. Lets hope this ride is restored and preserved for future generations to enjoy!

I rode this when it first opened...the first looping coaster ever! I still remember the anticipation of that loop on the LONG downhill run heading into it. Magic Mountain was quite a pioneer. I remember Colossus as the biggest Woody in the world at the time and Viper as a hair curling steel coaster with it's twisting downhill decent and multiple loops, helix, and barrel rolls. Such a great ride...all of them!

and YES, I noticed the nods to the movie "Rollercoaster" - from the background music to the title sequence resembling the sky writers spelling out "Revolution". Well done! All you need now is to put a Harry Calder on the ground near the helix with the Young Man climbing the fence.

For lack of a better term; Wow!! This is truly impressive. I grew up in LA & my family visited MM annually. As a kid I was enthralled by this coaster & would sit at the base of that beautiful loop from the observation deck of the ice cream parlor & watch its grace practically all day. And when I wasn't watching, I was riding it. Thanks for sharing; two enthusiastic thumbs up 🙂

The Revolution was the first looping coaster I ever went on in 1976, but I have to laugh these days at the looooong downhill into the simple loop when coasters these days just go from one loop right into the next.

man you nailed it!!! You even got the observation platform that I stood on when I was 7yrs old looking up at that thing with such fear and awe!!! One thing I noticed was that the water wheel on the side of the cafe is missing. It is missing now because Six pigs lets everything rot if not in their profit margin. Very nice work

ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN AWESOME!! A Beyond Awesome Job!! The Great American Revolution in All of its Glory, the way I remembered it when I took my Very 1st Ride in 1978 after graduation from Marine Corps Bootcamp, when there were NO LAME ASS TRIM BRAKES on the top of the hill before The Loop, and after The Tunnel, giving The Trains Awesome Speed coming out of The Final Helix. The Coaster also had a 5 Train Operation. Great Job on The introduction of The Video. The spelling of Revolution, just like in The Movie, Rollercoaster, with The Sky Writing. And I can understand the difference with The Music, because of Copyright.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎢♥️
