  • Range testing an urban sport scooter on gravel roads. The Pegasus from Varla was not made for this, but can it handle it?
Quality electric scooters might not be cheap or for everyone, but if you like scooters Varla has proven to me and many others that you get what you pay for.

I just recently burned out the motor on my scooter. By going TOO SLOW, if you can believe it. Only a few miles of constant stop-starting and less than walking speed riding while I was taking my little apprentice for a ride on his new bike overheated the motor.
Now I haven't had the heart to take it apart yet, but a replacement motor is, as far as I can tell, more than half the price I paid for the whole thing, so cost vs worth of repairing or replacing is still something I'm taking into consideration

Man these little e scooters can really go off roading and I'm impressed on how well they build them. That truck I saw at the beginning looks nice. What engine is in it the vortec?

The Pegasus is a good little vehicle. Do you have the same issue with massive voltage sag? The batteries are the only thing that disappointed me with mine.

I have been sticking with the 2nd power mode most of the time where the scooter holds about 20mph right up until the battery dies.
I'm sure I would notice it in the 3rd power mode, but that speed is a bit faster than I like to go on scooter most of the time.

I saw your video and wanted to tell you yes I have run my exhaust pointed at my chain and it does lubricate the chain quite well but when you go to touch your chain I promise you your hands will turn black because it not only gets the oil but also all the carbon build and the soot whatever turns the thing black and it will stay in your clothes so be careful I am going to be a new subscriber as soon as I get money on my card and because I like your videos so much I'm going to go to the best of subscriptions talk to you then keep up the good work

Becareful man I sprained my wrist when something got caught in my front wheel, I thought everything was good and started going again only to flip the scooter once more and sprained my neck. I still ride though

oh man, bicycles look so unnecessarily complicated compared to e-scooters. I like simplicity.
Is it possible to push the e-scooter with one foot as if it had no motor? or is there too much resistance from the motor cause its permanently engaged? I would love to have a freewheel arrangement the motor so I can avoid just walking if my forgetful ass didnt change the battery overnight.

My own e scooter has way too much resistance on the wheel to kick it along. I found that out the hard way. And I can tell you, mine started to get REALLY heavy after a few kilometres of having to push it along when the battery died

I did give it a try when I got back on the blacktop, the deck height was a bit too tall, and the wheels gave a bit too much resistance.

Great review, and I liked the scenery allot too.I have a couple of the 2nd cheapest Razor scooters. You can't get the engine to engage until You scoot it up to @5mph then it turns on with the twist throttle. They were free in someones trash,so no complaints.I want to 'hybrid'a bike with 1 on the front wheel.Thoughts?

Give it a go! So long as you've got good traction between the scooter wheel and the bike wheel I don't see why this couldn't work, so long as you had a way to mount everything
