MR SALLES YOU ARE THE GOAT!!!! I can confirm, the three-part thesis and the AUTHOR'S VIEWPOINTS are THE reasons why I got a Grade 9 in my mock (AND the layers of analysis that you provide)!!!!!
do you add one viewpoint or 3?
I’m so glad you put it into practice!
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Is the paper marked question by question or as a whole, for example, if you mentioned the sugnificence of a cyclical structure in the unseen poetry question, could you mention cyclical structure in the comparrision
@@Kelyoriyes, you can mention it in every question where it is relevant
@@Kelyoriyou can even take stuff from Lang Q3 to q4 in paper 1 is relevant
Amazing content well explained in less ten-mins - thank you sir - for your time & creativity, forever!
Such a good help!
Thanks so much, Mr Salles. I got my literature Paper 1 back. I am predicted a grade 5 of Lit and Lang GCSE. And I got the result of Grade 6 in Lit Paper 1 and only 2 marks off a 7. You are a hero for all kids doing their GCSEs
Congratulations!
Sir, can you do a paragraph walkthrough as Im unsure how to actually write one and link it to the thesis without using too much context
Mr salles never fails to be the bestttt
Sir can you do predictions please 😭😭 im worrying alot about lit 😭😭😭
Yes plz😢😢
yess!! please x
He did war and conflict poetry predictions on his TikTok already!
@@katyadudnic can u put the link here pls ? I actually wanted aic, Christmas carol and Macbeth ones too... 😭😭
What about the relationship and love poem
thank youuu mr salles! I did my ELIT and ELAN mocks in march and today my teacher just gave it back. Thanks to you, i got 36/40 for my inspector calls essay, and my grades boosted up from grade 7 at the start of year 11 to grade 9 now, i wouldnt hv done it without your videos! 🥰
Fantastic!
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish i just need to work on my poems, but because i do eduqas not aqa, i can only use ur videos for ozymandias 😔
Please could you show us an example of an essay using this structure? Do you have to do a paragraph per event, so 4 paragraphs for the 4 chronological events?
Hi sir, I can see how this would work for An inspector Calls and The Sign of Four, but I can't think of how Macbeth fits in?
Great video though.
Would it be possible for you to show some good thesis statements?
Are there any particular strategies to come up with points for your paragraphs, and then developing them.
quick question, for each paragraph from each part of the text, do you have to link to ALL three issues discussed in the thesis? or would you only talk about one issue per paragraph
Your videos are great. Do they work for the wjec mark scheme in Wales too?
Can you please provide us with a grade 9 essay that you have wrote using this please
Sir any examples of beginning and end quotes for Frankenstein. Any help is greatly appreciated
what 6 things would it be for macbeth please reply and i got predicted a 7 though im aiming for an 8 or 9
Any tips on a student who has a scribe. My son is mildly autistic, but struggles with English Language exams as a whole. He would be happy if he scrapes a 4, and I would be ecstatic. He just seems to have so many hurdles, when it comes to assessments.
Hi Mr Salles, I love your videos, your plan that you show in this video is excatly the one I used (and it let my breaking into grade 8, thank you). I just wanted to ask, if we establish 2-3 purposes in our thesis, is it feasable to focus on only one rather than all three? I hope you can clear this up!
You need to deal with at least 2 for a grade 9
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thanks!
hi Sir, I'm just wondering for the 4 key moments , what you would suggest that be for Jekyll and Hyde in order to cover most questions I could be asked so I can therefore start preparing that 80% of my answer now. Would also be helpful for the other books too, Thank you !
lmk when someone replies pls
In the thesis statement, when you are talking about society, era and issue. Does this fall under AO3 - context because you are talking about the circumstances of which the book/play was written in? or am i to just talk in universe in the book/play
is there any video like this for poetry, I suppose this video is meant for books such as AIC, Macbeth etc.
How do you write the first paragraph for Journey's End using those 3 words (society, era, and issues)?
anyone know what characters to memories for a christmas carol and romeo & juliet?
sir can you check one of my romeo and juliet thesis?
In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents Juliet’s emotions as radically intense through her internal conflict between her familial devotion and romantic love for Romeo. However, her emotions begin to cloud her rational judgement of situations, ultimately acting as a catalyst for her inevitable tragedy. Perhaps Shakespeare explores the complexity of womanhood within a patriarchal society.
I think this is a rlly good thesis, but u could talk about difficulty of being a woman in patriarchy as well (issue).
Yes, you need to decide on Shakespeare’s viewpoint. Does the play make us sympathetic to Juliet, forced by Capulet’s patriarchal control to rebel in dangerous ways? Or does he take the parental view that the tragedy is all the teenagers’ making?
@MrSallesTeachesEnglish please give an example
In the literature papers can I analyse a specific verb/noun/adjective or would that not score me any AO2 marks?
Can't remember- do you run your own course for GCSE students I can't remember if I walked before apologies if I have
Another phenomenal video that blew me away! 👍
Predictions?
Hi sir, what era is an Inspector Calls set in? Thanks very much your videos are so helpful :)
Edwardian
i love you mr salles
Wouldn't it be nice to provide a sample 'Perfect Literature Essay' at the end to make the explanations much clearer, so you point out exactly what you were trying to explain earlier? Or perhaps, are there other videos which have those already? (sorry, I'm new to your Channel)
There are many essays on the channel. But making them fit this structure for a video is a good idea
your about to save my grades 😅
SIR please I need help with your top 10 quotes for Romeo and Juliet were a life saver can you do the same for Animal Farm please and maybe frankenstein (even though its my strongest out of the three)
Whats a thesis statement, do you give it in the beginning of the essay or beginning of paragraphs
the thesis is like the main idea of ur entire essay, then you break that thesis into 3 more ideas that revolve/support the thesis and those 3 ideas you came up with, use one per paragraph and the first body paragraph you need to talk about the given extract on macbeth
is there anything that seprates me from 26 to 30 marks. i have to compensate for weak unseen
Sir, do you have to write alot about the extract to obtain high marks. For example, lets say you get given an extract of which you have minimal understanding, could you not write much about the extract and focus on other parts of your essay's in order to acheive high marks?
My guess is maybe 1 paragraph on the extract is sufficient. If you write really well I'm sure it will be fine. Hope Mr salles sees this
12 hrs to go
6:01 but sir i don't think so because in each extract it says "starting with this moment in the play", or "starting with this speech" then "write about how shakespeare..."
You should cross that out, start at the start even if the extract is at the end, just do not forget the extract
I think 6 moments is stupid though, no way you can be perspeptive with analysis using 6 moments, I find 2 or 3 big old paragraphs are good and find the grade 9 ideas which you can waffle about for ages and examine wets themselves
@@Charlie5156 yes exactly! Thanks so much for your detailed reply! I normally write 3 big paragraphs along with thesis and conclusion for about 1000 words. Still only getting 22-23 marks but I'm improving
@@Charlie5156 do you know any place I can find good model answers or ideas?
Exactly 13 hours until English Lit paper 1
Sir can you do a macbeth video again on side characters like fleance and macduff etc
kinda irrelevant characters not shown a lot but macduff is presented in the play when king Duncan is murdered and he brings the news to Macbeth that he has been crowned king of Scotland and that he wasn't going to come to the coronation and later Macbeth receives news that macduff has fled Scotland and Macbeth and his men go and kill Macduffs wife + children and macduff receives news that Macbeth has killed his family and Malcolm sees Macbeths cruelty and macduff swears to kill Macbeth. Macbeth soon goes to the witches and asks them to give him answers and they told him beware of macduff and that no man born of woman shall kill him and that trees will move before Macbeth dies. war starts and Macbeths men are leaving him and macduff fights Macbeth and macduff decapitates Macbeth as macduff was born of c section and not the normal way of birth through a woman's hole.

anyone know what characters i need to memorise analysis for in jekyll and hyde?
(Jekyll and Hyde as 1 character) , Utterson and Dr Lanyon
@@1bbysyes is it possible to get a question on Enfield? One of my friends says so but he’s such a minor character i’m unsure
@@riannapilled he shouldn’t
@@riannapilled Personally, I doubt it but my teacher taught us that if a character comes up that we don’t know, you should get some quotes from the extract and compare them to a character that you know
Would you say its good to use SILFIAQ method for answering lit essays?
I don’t know it. If it is getting you grades, then yes
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish hey thanks for replying it's
S-structure (where the scene is in the play and why that matters)
I- Intention of author
L- language
F- Form (like macbeth=tragic play)
I- interpretation
a- audience
Q- question
i havent tried it out yet
Not bad. Those all need to be in your essay, but not necessary in each paragraph. If it helps, do it, but if you have to miss some out in some paragraphs, fine.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thanks for your replies and for great videos :)
Are the examiners gonna not mark my actual exam if I use your English literature analysis someone let me know it’s urgent 😭
The examiners know that students get their analysis from teachers and are quite happy with this
