The author's style with writing bleach is more of a show than tell and has tendency to express the characters emotions in poems and not really give you extensive backstory to characters, so if you did not catch the lines they say sometimes you might look pass it and since they are in poems you might interpret it differently. Also if the character is specifically secretive like Gin, the author really keep this at heart.
Sometimes the fillers are good way to learn more about the characters more.

@@nothisispatrick5691 2 fillers are actually "anime" canon though, the bount and regai one at least since they fut in the timeline and get set up and callbacks during the canon arcs even if you don't like them or not. But yeah we still have the manga canon so you can still stick with that.
The good thing about "some" fillers and the movies is they contain ideas Kubo himself give to the studio since he can't explain or go into it fully in the manga series. Like the "Valley of the Screams", which is relevant ro TYBW but Kubo did not have time to explain them fully but if you watched Movie 1 you'll know what the Valley of Scream is. The story they might be in isn't really canon in the manga or in the anime sometimes but at least the concept they are diving in is actuallu the same in the manga canon. Also the after credit skits also dish out a lot of canon information usually exclusive only to those who buy Bleach official artbooks so I advice you don't skip them too. I saw a lot of people eho actually speedruns to the manga canon arcs in the anime only and they barely don't know shit about the other side characters and their relationship to the other cast but yeah at least some fillers do remind you of them and sometimes elaborate on those character more.
If you read the manga + the other canon materials anyway you can just enjoy the filler's as extra popcorn content. Like its a good thing you are aware they are fillers so you don't get to mix them up as canon.

i might be considered a toxic bleach fan boy for others but kurosaki ichigo's character development was never praised or even realized by anime community to this DAY .. i mean it's not so easy to catch the difference between old and new kurosaki
but it's actually easy for who is invested into STORY .. not that anger or confident or amazing powers or annoying ego
ichigo's tone , way of express , seriousness , priorities , prospective on others , responsibilities are DIFFERENT

yeah not gonna lie it's lacking cause bleach character development aspect is more quality than quantity .. kubo has cast overload so it's super hard to develop many captains
zaraki , kurosaki , orihime , rukia , byakuya , yamamoto and renji were developed and changed + uliquorra had impactful character change not develop so some people got it wrong
yeah i got you and other critiquers .. these characters are like 10% of the whole cast unfortunately
any way check out jaymes hanson video about kurosaki character , he really made effort more than half seasonal animes that i watch .. it was like a story about a story
@Derek Sorenson kenpachi learns to listen to his sword, byakuya learns to go beyond just protecting soul society to protecting his sister, yamamoto from the strict old school monster turns more compassionate and flexible with rules, mayuri goes from being cocky to understanding that even his most precious experiment nemu is not perfect as he earlier thought and welcomes change, nemu learns to decide things for herself instead of just following mayuri's orders, komamura from teaching tousen to fight not for revenge but for justice later sacrifices himself for avenging yamamoto and learns to accept his beastly nature, ichigo from not wanting his powers and being selfish to later being grateful for his powers and truly accepting his blade in a selfless way. These are some of them which are obvious is seen even a bit closely. If you say that they remained the same and haven't undergone any character arcs then you have missed out on a large part of bleach

@Derek Sorenson When we first met Ichigo, all he ever wanted was a normal life and in this arc it proves how difficult it really is since he is known to protect. We have never seen him that desperate or lose hope but in this arc we do.
This is what I like about Ichigo, once he is on the precipice of defeat during the heat of the battle he knows how to stand up, be strong and keep going because his number one goal is to protect his friends.

cause kubo explained how the main character got amazing gifted powers from many factors and kubo foreshadowed his hollow powers' evolve in many eps/scenes
+ the thing about orihime crying and ichigo got powers ups by that is the most wrong thing ever in anime not just bleach .. you guys should focus into any plot details then you can criticize better
the one that stood and knocked uliquorra is WHITE ICHIGO .. cause he doesn't want death and want to be the king not the horse , that's instinct

Man, when TYBW anime comes out and is (hopefully) expanded a bit and if they maybe even animate CFYOW (doubtful, but would be awesome since it goes even deeper on some things and clears up some stuff left open in the TYBW) and the new potential arc, they will get a lot of their answers about characters that never got more backstory and explanations. Even just TYBW fills in a lot of character backstory gaps that haven't been brought up much so far. Man, I can't wait for for release ...

Their powers work being manipulating the souls of non living things to enable them to do seemingly superhuman and supernatural feats.
Fullbringers can also have items they form personal attachments with that can develop special and unique powers for each of them, in Ginjo's case, turning his necklace into a sword.
