The Lake District - Walking In Nature's Backyard - Part One

- Stunning scenery, good music AND death defying bravery awaits, as this time Country House Gent embarks on an epic journey across part of the glorious Western Lake District National Park, in Cumbria, England.
After walking many miles and arriving at the jaw droppingly beautiful Wastwater lake and the equally impressive Scafell Pike mountain, fatigue takes the better of CHG and he devises a cunning plan to make the remainder of the journey, a little less 'physical'.
Having 'hitched' a ride and after experiencing even more of the staggering scenery on offer, he eventually arrives at the woodland where nearby, he intends to set up camp in a nature reserve.
Following a particularly 'hard' arrival and the instructions provided, he heads off on yet another lengthy trek, this time through an extensive, imposing and untamed wilderness.
Carefully picking his way through prickly and stinging undergrowth, leaping dangerous ravines and hugging several trees, he eventually crosses a field and arrives at the unspoilt and peaceful haven, that will be his home for several days.

I think this was ingenious!! The music, the fade in and out, the humor, and because I live in the USA, I wasn’t aware terrain looked like this in the UK. I’ve been to London and Oxford. This was very scenic. Nice to see you on CZcams again!😎

While I watched I was extacting honey from this years harvest. Had to go change the honey frames every few minutes. Love the way you fade in and out in the beginning. Watched the entire video and enjoyed every minute. I've been following since you put Aslan through her first tunnel! Hope life continues to bring you more joy as you take on your intreped adventures! I'll be watching.

We have a museum just a block away and there is a garden that is cared for by volunteers and the produce is sold on the honor system. Also, a beekeeper who sells the most wonderful honey! We were just wondering how much work is actually involved in that. The only thing I really know is the closer to home, the better when it comes to buying honey. We are happy to buy from her. Do you sell yours? We just paid $15 US for 10 ounces. It's getting more expensive, but still worth it to us. We plan to buy more before the season is over. All the best!
@@ceeceety2320 Hi Tim, this is actually my third season of beekeeping. The first was no harvest, that's the normal. Second season about 20 pounds and that was considable less than hoped for. Got up to 15 hives but, lost most of the bees over winter, probably due to Vorroa Mites. That is the big issue with bees here in the states since the 1990s. Bought more bees this year and have 11 hives that produced only 90 pounds of honey. Yes, it is a LOT of work. Part of that is probably my inexperience. So, I have honey to sell this year in my kitchen right now. Just not sure how I'm going to do that. Honey here is selling for about $8 US a pound. It sure has cost me a WHOLE lot more to get to this point. Probably would not start over now. That said, it is hard to quit at this point. Always hope to do better next year! The home grown honey taste great and I eat it every day. If you should decide to get bees be advised to take a beekeeping class first. It is just the beginning of a very steep learning curve.

Kevin, to me this is your best yet. The beginning where you fade in and out while the scenery remains the same highlights just how transient we are. Also Wastwater is my favourite part of the Lake district.

I've only been to the lake district once when I did the Wainwright coast to coast walk but it's a very beautiful place. Helvelen and striding edge were an experience I will never forget.

seeing so much green from the parched, brown, smoke -filled hell-scape that is my corner of California was balm for my soul..You got to do the walk basically twice--setting up the camera and walking away, then returning to fetch and retrace your steps.
I’m with you. Northern California is apocalyptic right now. This was a lovely break from our current reality.
Now that was creative, entertaining, and impressive. I could see the shear work that went into the filming, not to mention the planning, and editing. The lake district is beautiful. Thanks for all the work to share it with us.

I found Part 2, first, but therefore, WHERE was Part 1.
Much searching later, I found it, and was NOT disappointed.
I cycled round the Lake District, in 1971.
Slept in ponds, (didn't know that until I woke up in the morning !).
I'm actually a Lancashireman by birth, but I treat Cumberland as an Extension of my back yard !
Looking forward to Parts 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
