  • Join me as I take a look at what's in my food cupboards and from the limited ingredients available, produce something resembling food.
In this video, I take pork belly, chilies ,garlic, mushrooms, onions, caramelized sweet onion chutney, rice and an egg, and create my own version of Sweet Chili Pork, with Egg Fried Rice.

I have to admit that when I first saw the listing for the Travels by Narrowboat show I couldn't believe people would watch it 😀, but I've found it both relaxing and interesting. Much better than a lot of the garbage on TV and social media!

You’re such a good sport, Kevin. You spend a lot of time and effort producing your wonderful videos for people to enjoy (and the vast majority do - including moi) and despite a small contingent of whinging deplorables (what’s their beef anyways?) leaving nonsensical comments you press on in good humor for the sake of your many adoring (yes, adoring) fans. Thank you! You’re appreciated. Your calming manner and understated humor have provided us many hours of respite during this very strange time. We’re getting slammed in America from every direction and your videos have been a much needed balm.

i know this is 2 years old. I enjoy your adventurous spirit.and the calming beat of Aslan's engine. I just turned 75 and enjoy learning something new each day. I just learned that you are supposed to heat a stainless steel pan before putting your oil or fat into the pan. Bring your oil up to temp and then put your ingredients in. This is supposed to help with clean up. You look like you have been using your pan for years. Oh well. keep cooking even if the lock down year has passed.

I enjoy your methodological way of going about things, including cooking in your galley, and I find I feel the satisfaction and contentment that you appear to feel, when you have completed preparation of one of your meals.
I wouldn’t even read any negative posts. Some people are filled with discontent to unhealthy levels and enjoy blasting others with some of the very many negative thoughts that their pent up unhappiness causes to continuously swirl through their minds. It has nothing to do with the objects of their vile criticism and contempt, so just let it go by, and be glad you are not in their heads or their lives.

One thing about that unmentionable thing sweeping through the world - it brought the CHG cooking "show" back to CZcams. Of course, we pray for everyone's well being, and in the mean time reflect on this era of uncertainty. A little humor never hurts, but can be quite therapeutic, like sleeping, indeed. Since people are interested in CHG's cupboards, maybe its time to take advantage of the situation and start some Amazon affiliate links like CHG Organic Aduki Beans, CHG Madras Spice Paste etc. Shipping CHG Pork Belly may be problematic in the U.S as we have certain regulations. Great Show.

Thank you - I find watching you so relaxing - FYI we always keep a bag of frozen peas that we add to our fried rice, adds color and we love peas...Take care

Thank you once again for filming another great cooking segment especially with what you had in your covert. I got to say that I have really learned how to cook a lot better since I started watching this narrow boat series. Consider making more cooking segments with food from your covert which will definitely give us viewers ideas on how to cook better.

Thanks again Kevin that meal looked brilliant and as you said "nice and colourful", I'll try that myself as it's my style of grub. Don't entertain the negative/miserable sods as it's your take on a "what's in the cupboard" recipe so if they don't like it then don't cook it. Take care, all the best. Stevie

Appreciated as always Stevie, cheers. Yes, I think a few missed the point of the exercise, offering suggestions (orders) to include ingredients which I didn't have. 😁

What a fantastic meal.... It is what you have on hand, economical, two pans (easy clean up), and now I'm on the hunt for sweet onion chutney! Thank you so much!!!

As someone who has lived with RV lights for 13 years -- get a LAMP! Warm homey light in the kitchen. You'll thank me. Too Joe v. The Volcano in there!

Yes I know what you mean but usually it's not as bright as that. Only when I'm filming cos it needs good light for the camera.

@@CountryHouseGent . It's just the quality of the light in person. So comforting. Makes a mobile house feel more like home. Less office-like. You don't really notice what you're missing until you add it. Did the same with the bedroom. Some people really don't mind the overhead lights. Jist throwingnit out there. You have a nice floor plan. Like the kitchen and the spot for eating and love the cooking segments! Thanks for all the work you've done to share your journey! 👍

I enjoy your show. I have learned a lot of new ideas from your cooking part of your show. Your meals are a lot different from meals here in Kansas. Thank you for a lot of inspiration as meals for one is not easy. I also cook "extra" and have two meals.
