    I use this video to make my fried rice and love the result. A similar fried rice dish I also make comes from a coworker from long ago from Picayune, Mississippi. He would use bacon grease as his oil (already changes the flavor profile). Leftovers from a meal (cooked chicken or turkey etc) onion, green pepper, celery (trinity), bacon, tomatoes, and cooked egg. Season with the soy sauce and serve with Louisiana hot sauce. Total bliss!

    Aww, these guys are so sweet. I loved when the son helped his dad lift the heavy wok, and then the dad says "okay thank you".
    At the end, I was worried that the son was going to serve himself first, and then he gave his dad the first plate. I sighed with relief. Even his dad was worried and when he received the plate he pretty much congratulated him on his manners say "oh you're a good son".
    Reminds me of my dad. Maybe it's a generational thing, but my dad would have looked at me weird too if I dared serve myself before him. Gotta love family, and respect the hierarchy.

    I was happy to see the eggs cooked separately, and then added back in later. I have seen so many videos for fried rice where they add the eggs at the beginning, and then just keep adding ingredients to the same wok. There is no way you can avoid overcooking the eggs if they are in the wok the entire time. It is also nice to see Kevin cooking with his Dad. My girls used to love cooking with me when they were little, but now they are 20 something and only want to cook recipes that they find on Buzzfeed, which are usually awful, yet appealing because they are all made "in a cup" or "in a muffin tin." Kevin gives me hope that my daughters may come to their senses in their 30s.😂

    his dad is right, you can put anything you see in your fridge for fried rice. in Indonesia people can eat fried rice everyday for breakfast. cheap and good.I like to put the egg together when I stir fry the rice so can get coated with the rice.never seen with dry mushroom before
    I might try it next time.i enjoyed your video, thanks Pangs family.

    My father used to "scramble" eggs like this.
    He'd crack them into a hot frying pan, and
    wait. Just a few seconds, and the eggs had
    white parts, yellow parts, and mixed parts.
    Everyone has always said, that is the WRONG
    way to scramble eggs. (But, I still do it that
    way.)

    I Taught myself to make fried rice by trial and error. Turns out I make it almost exactly like you do. My trick I tell everyone is to make everything separately to perfection, then blend it all together at the end . Keeping things as dry as possible. The only thing I do different is I use seasoned well browned or grilled pork chops, pork steak or cubes. I place the crumbled eggs and steamed broccoli on top, Presents well. I love your recipe as well. Thank you!

    I was so intrigued by this recipe that I ran to the kitchen before the video was even over. I did the meat first, was going to wait the 45 min till I saw the next step, ran again to prepare the marinate, cut the orange, etc. I went back and forth from the living room to the kitchen till I decided to bring my Ipad to the stove. Having not read all the ingredients first, I looked like a Buster Keaton movie, or the Three Stooges, minus two, trying to add all the other ingredients! Not the proper to prepare a recipe. I’ll learn next time to read all the ingredients first, but I was too excited to make your recipe, I couldn’t help myself. I trust you both explicitly to produce mouth watering meals, you’re my new go to for Chinese food.

      @@donmiller2908 it's difficult to Google terms in a foreign language when you don't have a clue how the term is spelled. Hence my request.

    • @donmiller2908
      @donmiller2908 Před 2 lety +2

      @@itsthebrod It isn't difficult. For example, in the video the father is talking about using a Cantonese Chinese sausage, he said what it's called in Chinese but I didn't understand it. So I Googled "Cantonese Chinese sausage and got "lap cheong" which is what the father called it. Okay, now I have the spelling. So I Googled "Chinese characters for lap cheong" and I was directed here -> thereaderwiki.com/en/Lap_Cheong
      So at this site I learned that lap cheong was
      腊 肠 in simplified chinese and 臘 腸 in traditional chinese. Now all you need is a printer and a shop that sells that sausage and you're in business. You can do the same for any other item he mentioned.
      You can find almost anything using Google.

    • @itsthebrod
      @itsthebrod Před 2 lety +4

      @@donmiller2908 So you think your method is simpler than the video just putting the info up-front? Ok dude. I know how to use Google, but it's dumb to argue that that's a better method than the video adding simple text on the screen.

    • @donmiller2908
      @donmiller2908 Před 2 lety +1

      @@itsthebrod - I didn't say it was a simpler method, I just said it works. My point is that everyone is going to find fault with a video, they should have done this, they should have done that, etc. But if you want the information, it's out there. An hour of your time and you'd have everything he used to make fried rice. Or you could whine about how the contend creators didn't include whatever you decided to whine about.
