Well, maybe except that one time when they enumerated through all your steam files and steam friends list for god knows what. But that was just this one time, pinky promise!

I don't know much about this stuff, but as far as I've heard Faceit's anticheat is even more invasive, possibly even worse than vanguard or battleye. The thing is, here's something people should know. NO, and I repeat, NO anticheat is foolproof. There are top level faceit cheaters who reach the top and still don't get detected or banned, with thousands of dollars of skins as well.

Granted, it was pretty easy to spoof with a free program from Google or using a VM, but nonetheless an almost perfect permanent ban which definitely got me to quit Siege for the benefit of everyone.

He doesn't get straight to the point. He mislabels it as a rootkit, says that he hasn't tested if it transfers information. He hasn't actually run the game. EAC & BE having their kernel drivers started by a service does not preclude them from the same hypothetical difficult attacks other people are worrying about with Vanguard. It just adds an extra step, all someone has to do (mind, extremely difficult just like doing anything with Vanguard) to be malicious with either of those is to find out how the service communicates to start the WriteDisk process of the kernel driver, start it even when a game isn't being run, isolate the driver before it is loaded and then deleted, edit/replace it, use the service to load the edited/replaced driver, and boom you have successfully loaded a malware driver from the service regardless of a game being played.
If anything, Valorant's Anti-Cheat is more secure than any other Kernel Level anti-cheat. Which is almost every major Anti-Cheat about.

Yeah I remember when my friend decided to play Valorant that Vanguard actually messed up his Easy-Anti-Cheat so he couldn’t play any games that used it and that the only way to get rid of the problem was to get a new hard-drive.
Ex Valorant Player here. Riot banned me for “involvement with cheats”. I wasn’t cheating . Submitted a ticket to them *twice*. Both times they told me the ban was correct and will not be lifted. They permanently suspended my account. Permabanned for just playing the game and giving them some money for cosmetics. I love the game and would actually like to play, but knowing I’ll never get my beta account back and having to sit through a 3 month hwid ban on top of that, I don’t think I’ll ever return. I actually have been playing LoL for 10 years as well and love TFT as well. I cannot justify giving them any more time or money. If anyone knows how I could potentially pursue them legally, I’m all ears. Fuck the money. I just don’t want to see a shit company ban people like me for absolutely no reason.

Yup, Mutahar is basically everyone’s Indian tech God daddy at this point.
It's really not this it's basically everything in every operating system. This is just a good example of intrusive software not fulfilling it's intended purpose, from a software standpoint 4 days is horribly sad, normally when a new game is released it takes a few weeks to effectively manipulate the client. This is the honeymoon stage where everything looks good and you don't know the client or cheat engine very well ... it's the period where stuff like this should be difficult to happen (since folks should not be familiar with it yet) let alone with something so draconian as this.
It's already been defeated tho which shows the solution doesn't work and can be exploited, maybe not to a rogue spying degree but exploited enough to bypass the anti-cheat which would be considered a significant exploit in it's own right.
As someone who studies cyber security this is a big vulnerability, and it surprised me the lengths SomeOrdinaryGamers goes to play games securely which is a good thing

I myself don´t trust the chinese.. i spent in china 6 Months and as a programmer and beeing a bit keen on my privacy i was really shocked (even though i was prepared for it) how bad it really was there. I feel like we cannot allow such maleware to spread especially from china onto our computers - let alone that its most of the time minors that play these games.
There are so many false informations and people that simply don´t understand the risk with this software it is mindboogeling and talking to them is really really frustrating - especially as a programmer i feel really lost sometimes to explain that.

Which is a good thing about val the fact that it needs such strict access to detect cheats, thats why valve anti cheat sucks. The anti cheat engine can’t read all files on your pc but if an anti cheat could than you wouldn’t nearly as much hackers

@@RJFmedia the software detects the cheat it doesn't stop it, so if "your friend" cheat isn't in the automatic ban list it will require admins to approve it first

@@clorox9731 Every single china based company is legally required to cooperate with the ccp. Even if they werent, china is a authocracy/facist country, when you have to choose between giving them what they want or your family/friends "dissappearing" its obvious what people would choose.
How to fully remove valorant: type msconfig to windows search bar, press enter, go to start up settings (or something like that), choose "safe boot" option and then "use". It should ask if you want to restart your computer again in that mode. Do that and in that mode delete everything related to valorant and riot vanguard. Absolutely everything. Leave nothing. The type msconfig again and take that "safe boot" off. Then just click "use" (my computer is in Finnish but I think it is just "use" in English). After that it should ask again if you want to restart your computer. Restart it and voila. Valorant is gone.

I literally can't think of any programs outside of the bare essential programs necessary that should have any access to the system kernel. Plus, there's absolutely no reason to trust Tencent or any Chinese company because at any point the government can tell them to give them any information they have no matter where they have servers and they have to give up the info legally or they will probably be shut down or severely penalized if they're lucky

"the .sys doesnt take your data" would be technically true, if it just downloads another executable, runs it hidden from the user, and that steals the data. Gotta keep that corpo-speak in check.
