I can swim at least 1 km in open waters. In pool, more than 2kms however, i will hardle cross certain waters in Nigeria without life jacket especially if its available. In fact, if possible, i will buy mine if im exposed to travelling a lot on water. I really hope we do not continue to take things for granted. Especially, in Nigeria where many people dont know how to swim. River is a different beast because of strong current

Instead I pushed him towards a floating jerry can & swam off in a different direction.

Here in USA last year Famous actor Alex Baldwin shot and killed the cinematographer while practicing shooting scene where the prop gun was supposed to be empty of bullets. The actor didn't check the gun before shooting, he unfortunately assumed everybody else was doing their job. Actor Alex Baldwin was not charged in the death, but rather the armorer who was in charge of the gun props.

I have have been on boats driving for long. Rules to be followed are as follows:
1. All persons in the boat must be in life jacket, whether you know how to swim or not.
2. All persons should remain seated at all times during the journey.
3. All phones and electronics should be kept in bags or off shore.
4. Alcohol,drugs or someone under influence or intoxicated should not be allowed on board.

If you asked me, I think there is more to what happened to JP and the other 4. About the life jacket, for safety sake, even if he was to pay for the life jacket, he should have done that, at least, to sort it out with the producer thereafter. Very tragic. RIP to those who died in this incident. Here in USA last year Famous actor Alex Baldwin shot and killed the cinematographer while practicing shooting scene where the prop gun was supposed to be empty of bullets. The actor didn't check the gun before shooting, he unfortunately assumed everybody else was doing their job. Actor Alex Baldwin was not charged in the death, but rather the armorer who was in charge of the gun props.
