    Man, we see all these at Daytona Biketoberfest. Oh and major tailgating.

      No doubt. I've only been to Ohio bike week and Daytona, and it blows my mind so many people make these mistakes. Most just don't know any better. Appreciate you watching!

    Never ever sit at a stop light in neutral gear. I've had to bail out stopped at redlight intersections too many times to count. One time I saw a large RV approaching the intersection, in my lane where I was stopped. No one behind me in my lane. I could see in my mirrors two guys in the front window of the RV, beers in their hands laughing and talking to each other and not watching the road. They didn't even see the red light or stopped traffic. I had no choice but to go into the intersection and merge with traffic by making a 90-degree right in front of the vehicles stopped to the side of me. My maneuver stopped cross-traffic, lots of horns going off. If I didn't do that I would have been flattened like a pancake and the RV would have smashed into the cross-traffic. The RV didn't stop until it was halfway through the intersection. I gave the driver an earful. Their "I'm Sorry" wasn't enough. Drinking and driving and No cops around to give them a ticket. They looked like retirees, and it was in Florida during the later winter months. Too many years to count later, and it still is a vivid memory.

      Wow. I wouldn't be able to forget that memory either. Glad you're hear to tell the story. This is why we ALWAYS have to be ready at a moments notice to get out of the way. Thanks for your comment!

    Great tips, thanks!
    For blind spots at 4:40 I would put orange or red shade-lines only in the light blue rectangle directly behind the vehicle. There are some trucks, vans, and hatchbacks that load up and can't see the back through the mirror. Even worse, I've seen proof that some with clear vision refuse to check the center before backing up. They use a side mirror to keep an eye on the nearest obstacle they wish to miss on one side or the other.
    If I can't see the driver's head in a side mirror, I consider myself invisible to that driver. If my shadow reaches toward the side mirror, I add more space because the sun behind me might make me more difficult to see.

      Yes, sometimes drivers can look directly at us and somehow don’t see us. I try to get away from them as quickly and safely as possible. That is a great tip about seeing the drivers face in the mirror. I appreciate you leaving your feedback and watching!

    PS Consider talking about the vacuum and wind changes you experience when passing semi-trucks on the freeway. From the back no wind resistance and from sides you get pulled in until just past the cab where you get a mega blast pushing you back. Being aware helps you not freak out. Something like that I'm not good at explaining like you are. Thanks Joe !

    Avoid baggy or loose fitting pants. (You should have leather and armor at all times anyways.) My first bike drop was at a stop. My baggy pants snagged on the peg bar and kept my foot from reaching the ground and down I went. Embarrassing and totally avoidable.

      I'm not familiar with that motorcycle. I'd imagine it's smaller, so you could probably get a tighter turn radius.

    How do you not drag or keep your feet close to the ground when you are in stop and go traffic where the max speed is 5mph. By the time you put your feet on the pegs, you have to stop again and put them down or fall over. A confident and competent rider I am with 50 years of riding. How many years have you been riding Joe?

    • @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
      @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures  Před 9 měsíci +1

      You can most certainly keep your feet up in stop and go traffic. Especially at 5mph. If the motorcycle is moving, your feet should be up. I have been riding for about 10yrs

    • @jamescampolo7824
      @jamescampolo7824 Před 9 měsíci

      @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures I am saying, your top speed is 5mph for 30 seconds and you may have to stop for 2 minutes. I cannot stay up for 2 minutes with my feet up without falling over.

    • @jamescampolo7824
      @jamescampolo7824 Před 9 měsíci

      @@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures I don't "drag" my feet per se, however, I have them hovering off of the pavement for when I have to stop due to traffic stopping. In no way can I keep them on the pegs when it is less than 100' between stops.

    • @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
      @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures  Před 9 měsíci

      In that case, you keep your feet on the pegs until you come to a stop. When you're ready to stop, you only put your left foot on the ground so that way you can still cover the rear brake. If it's stop and go traffic, I will wait a little longer to move forward so that way I'm not constantly stopping and going so much. Or I try to get into a sweet spot and practice my slow race skills.

    • @jamescampolo7824
      @jamescampolo7824 Před 9 měsíci

      @@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures You have to keep moving as a courtisy to the 150 cars, bikes, trucks behind you. You are the sweet spot, keeping 10' ahead of you and hoping the asshole behind you also keeps 10' behind you. Where do you ride, Wyoming?
