- Tungsten Super Shot aka TSS has really been a game changer for the 410. In this video I am testing some Salt Creek turkey loads.

Great test. Salt Creek will be working overtime to fulfill the orders. I never heard of the company but sounds like a small company and I like that.
Rumor has it that Evan Perry is designing slugs for Salt Creek. 😁
Fishing on a hunting channel.......well done
@@turdferguson5300 not sure who that is, but I've been thinking about doing rifled slug ammo made with Goodell Shotshell Co slugs. Ryan Goodell makes excellent shotgun projectiles.
@@saltcreekammo Evan Perry is a guy that designs and builds a lot of slugs for the TAOFLEDERMAUS Channel. Where can I find your ammo? I like what I've seen.
@@saltcreekammo yeah, Ryan is a genuine guy. I like his business model, just sell slugs. Doesn't have to deal with ATF stuff, Hazmat , shipping restrictions etc. But there is definitely a market for loaded ammo since many people don't handload.
My man appreciate the shoutout hope we can answer any pattern setups for turkey hunting your viewers could have!
We gotta link up for some pattern test vids!
Your videotography was excellent as it pertains to pulling the turkey target nearer before the shot was fired. Very well done and very good information as per usual.
After this review I decided to give these folks some business. Really pleased with the patterns out of my 12 gauge and was totally blown away with the pattern out of my fixed full choke .410 with the 9/10 blend. Excited to finally hunt turkeys with my old rabbit shotgun. Salt Creek has my recommendation
I've loaded TSS for several years and shoot 10s pretty much exclusively in the 410. 7/8 oz for turkeys and 1/2 to 5/8 oz for ducks. I've killed ducks out past 60 yards with them and to date they have accounted for multiple gobblers, with the furthest being a touch over 50 yards. Ballistics software predicts 1.5 inch penetration out to mid 50 yards with 10s when launched at 1080 fps and real world results reflects that prediction accurately. In my experience, the 10s are a better ballistic match for the small bores like the 410 and 28 ga. With the 9s, you tend to run out of pattern long before you run out of lethality where as the 10s tend to run out of lethality and pattern at roughly the same range and in my experience, the pattern with 10s has less voids and is slightly more forgiving at extremely close range. If you have a bird hang up at 40-50 yards with the 10s, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger. I run a Comp-N-Choke .385 I've noticed the TPS wad most of these loads use, responds well to a choke that provides a bit of braking such as the CNC. While I don't have any first hand experience, I've also seen excellent results with the Patternmaster choke.
Very impressive patterns. Tungsten shot is definitely putting the .410 on the turkey hunting board. Good shooting ol son!
Those are some nice .410 patterns for 35 yards. They all look good from where I sit. Very nice video Buffalo. You make a great teacher.
Greetings from Reno, Nevada.
I appreciate the technical information and consistent feedback.
Thank you for watching and glad you found it helpful!
Load some #10s for chukkar. Devastating.
Looks like Salt Creek has it going on. Everything you shot resulted in food in the freezer and that's the name of the game nowadays. Great video and much appreciated work put into it. Thanks Buffalo!!
Good looking patterns with each shell, I think all would work for turkey hunting at 30-40 yards. Thanks Buffalo for the video.
When I was 15 my dad got me a .410 New England Firearms for Christmas. I still have it and it is a great little shotgun. I don’t hunt with it much anymore, but I do use it to defend my chickens 🐓
my first was a .410 side by side, still have 25 years later, still my goto.
I hear ya on the 35 yards, I try so stay within bow range too. Those [patterns looked good, definitely good enough!
Excellent review of the. 410 Turkey loads ,always enjoy your content
Great info and video Buffalo! Never heard of Salt Creek but will have to check them out. And bluecollar outdoors too, sounds like a good channel.
Please do!
Great pattern test! I like the shout out to blue collar because they do some great testing also. That Salt Creek ammo looks impressive!
Based upon your test patterns, Buff, if you get a shot at a nice Tom within 35 yards, your family will be enjoying a turkey dinner. Fingers crossed it will happen for you.
That's a beautiful mossy oak shotgun. As good as those patterns are I'd test it at 45 yard. You might be surprised.
Glad to see you out shooting. Here in Iowa I just put out salt and sand on the front and back steps because the dog was losing traction when he went out to pee. 1/4 inch of ice today.
410 shotguns are not that popular here in Northern California. You have completely convinced me and 410 is the way to go. That 410 Henry lever that you have is impressive.
👍👍some impressive patterns Buffalo. I believe any of those would do the job. Great job on the video my friend.
Looks like a 50 yard gun to me with those shells. The way TSS penetrates I would not hesitate to use the 10's
New Subscriber. You put out some Amazingly quality videos on the tube. Keep it up and Thanks.
Thank you for subscribing and watching -I appreciate the support!!
I love using my Steven's Model 311a for turkey. Thanks for the video Buffalo. Take Care, God, Bless, STAY SAFE
Morning buffalo. Impressive for a 410
Thanks for another great video. Looks like the Cold Turkey is a excellent ammo and I love the 410. I enjoy the targets zooming in for your shots.
Salt Creek ammo always looks impressive from what I’ve seen.
I've never been turkey hunting but your results have educated me. I thought the pattern needed to be smaller to keep the pellets out of the meat. Interesting.
Keep making great videos. I learn something every time. Thank you Buff. 🎈🥳🎈
Buffalo you produce great content and provide very good technical information. Enjoy your channel. God bless!! Keep cranking out the videos
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
That's some incredible patterning. If there's any way you could do it, I'd really like to see this patterned in the plain Jane Mossberg 500E 410 with 24" fixed full choke to understand the difference in performance.
Thanks for your great videos, Buffalo!
Great video. I have always wondered how those high dollar TSS shells do, especially out of a .410.
I wouldn't be afraid to take any of those to the woods to chase turkeys. I'm also a subscriber to the bco boys and they test alot of patterns. Great job Buffalo
Thanks!
Always GREAT content brother. Keep`em comin!
I have a very good friend who opened a ammo manufacturing here in Sidney TX called Salt creek. He produces top quality stuff. His name is Bobby Smith
Great video! Glad to see a pattern test with 2.5” ammo. I’ll Be ordering some of this ammo and a turkey choke for my Henry lever gun.
Great demo, thanks. I would love to see the 20 ga. tested.
Great informative video. Lot of good info & very nice patterns with a lot of shot near point of aim. Imagine being an ER doctor & finding out somebody used it for home defense - Bunch of tiny hard pellets. Good job Sir. 👍💥
Thank you!!!
Greetings from Southern Ontario canada, thx for the great info on patterns of 410 shotshells, sure could use one bout now, gotta flock of bout 35 turkey's behind my house, man, they're extra large birds for sure, we got lots of turkey's round here, I wanna try my stick bow first, then if that fails, well, time to bring out the shotty, lol, shakyjake out.
Great video Buffalo. Always liked a 410.
Same here!
Thank you, for the information. I'll be ordering some and be trying them in my set up👍
Thanks for the greetings... one can only prove effectiveness of any gun ammo combo if it shines on squirrels. 😁 only then is it groovy.
👍🐿👍
Thanks for the video. Good rounds for 410.
I'll have to check those out for my little girl's tuffy .410 turkey gun.
We designed the 2.5" 410 load specifically for youth hunters. We hope you both enjoy it.
Freeeeedom 🇺🇸 I'm going to give my henry model X a shot this year with the 2.5" #9 shot. I have multiple different chokes including a tss so as soon as these come in I'll pattern them out and go from there. Thanks for the video!
Thanks, very informative! Good shooting.
No problem-thank you for watching!
very consistent performance
Impressive well i just place a order Mossberg 500 410 turkey before i saw your video,be in next week
Looks like that will certainly do the job at 35 yards, maybe 40 as well. Great video, nice test
This was a very good quality video thank you.
Killed several birds with #10s out of A Stevens 301. They absolute hammer em !! And the 410 seems to like the tighter 410s also. Love the shout out to @bluecollaroutdoors also. They got some great content on the channel. 👍🏻👍🏻🦃🦃💥
My man!
#10's are the new hotness.
@@saltcreekammo love to try a box 🤔
Good enough for turkey chilli and 🍔
Buffalo. Good and interesting video. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks, you too!
Like someone said that's one turkey Head shot, 💯%
in Oven on 1 shell not a bad trade !
😎👍
Most think you need 3 1/2 12 gauge and Buffalo shows you how it's done with a .410.
I think a good name and good package sell ammo as much as impressive results shooting it… at least for a little while. These have a pretty cool name and seem to work very well.
I had 7 turkeys in my back yard this week, but I live where houses are too close together otherwise I’d shoot turkeys right on my own property.
Someday I’ll get a good 20-30 acres to myself.
First off ,thank you for your videos. These are great patterns for a .410. Something I have not seen is the impact at this range. I would like to see a block of jell behind those targets to show what kind of penetration that .410 gets at that distance. Just a thought. Thanks, Mark
Those pellets out of the 410 will have the same penetration as the same size pellets (at the same velocity) as those out of a 20, 12 or 10 gauge. The gauge has nothing to do with penetration period, only shot size, velocity and the material the pellets are constructed of will/can affect energy/penetration.
There's a spring just around the corner.
But for now, we get blizzard conditions and a foot of snow.
It was an extreme amount of time that you put in just to count the amount of pellets that impacted the target. Thank you for your time
Thank you for watching !!!
Wow! Thank you for another great video.
Thanks for watching!
Whoa ....i gotta have some of that ammo for overall critter getters 😳
Great video. When people say they're patterning a load and fire multiple.shots at the target before checking, how is that patterning? You always do it right.
That’s very nice indeed. Great camera work. Thanks for the video.
They should make some High Base 2 shot for Geese! Damn never seen performance like that from 9 shot, look's like a 20 yard shot from a 12 ga. Let alone a .410.
Thank you sir. Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Those patterns look like turkey dinner to me
I’ve gotten several diver ducks with #9 tss. Nothing to worry about. Complete pass through at 40 +\- I’m sure #10 would be awesome too. TSS is amazing
Yep. I load 2.5" hulls with #10s for ducks. Teal ,mallards, ringnecks, woodies. Cut down tps wad and run them at about 1180fps. It'll make a 12ga shooting steel bb jealous in terms of plet count and range. It's like shooting a fistful of needles at a bird. Little pellets have a much easier te getting through the heavy feathers on late season ducks. Even smacked a half a dozen geese last year with the same load. If you can hit what you're looking at, you don't need much.
Great video, very informative. Thanks
Very welcome
I live in Texas and carry a .38 hammerless with #9 rat shot for snakes, but if you lead about 6 feet, it'll drop a dove in flight just as easily as it will dispatch a Copperhead or Cottonmouth.
Thanks for this video.
You're welcome
Nice test. I have the same exact gun. I bought it for squirrel hunting. Killed a ton of squirrels with it. Last yr i started turkey hunting with it. I have the mossberg sa 410ga TSS turkey gun too. It matchs the 500. Never shot the factory xfull yet. I ordered 2 Indian Creek. 385 chokes for both. I bought a few boxes ninja 9.5 TSS loads. I would like to try some of the 10's. I run a reflex red dot on both 410's. I am now looking at the mossberg sa 28ga turkey gun. I like hunting with the sub gauges.
Good patterns. I’ve seen posted that #10 is effective out to 52 yards
The 3 inch #9 looks promising. Dead Tom for sure
Good stuff! 👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
I usually just use #6 for everything. I don't like picking bunches of tiny shot out of something and with 6 if it hits its dead. 99% it will do the job in 50yards or less anyway.
Hello to all fans of the 410 caliber!!!Bullets are often fired in Russia. On my channel there is a video of the assembly of 410 caliber cartridges. Привет из РОССИИ!!!)))
👍😊 looks good to me.
Every shot looked like murder to me. That's just phenomenal performance!
Nice patterns
Thank you
I am amazed y’all still have wild turkeys. Here, we have too many critters that would eat them.
You're the best. WIsh I were your neighbor.
Interesting. Good patterns. I am curious how well they do when you actually harvest one
Hi i will use that tss for selfdefens at home with the 410 shotgun
Excellent video. Have not considered a 410 for turkey but this looks impressive. Will the tungsten damage barrels and/or choke tubes ?
No, modern firearms with chokes designed for TSS won't be damaged. The shot cups made to carry the TSS payloads also add a lot of protection from barrel scrubbing.
U ever try the Burgess creek turkey ammo it’s pretty good stuff ,veterans .
🦃🦃🦃👍👍👍
Just bought a girsan mc321 I hope I didn’t mess up but it looks and feels good. Will shot it this weekend
We got tons of patterns with that gun on the channel!
СУПЕР ! ! !👏👏👏
#10 shot will give you an 1.5in of penetration at 52yds, similar to #6 lead except the fact that you get thrice as many pellets to the ounce.
Hay buffalo for those late videos. Try some solar lights in your shed.
At 6:02 the rooster stood in for the gobbler!
🦃🦃
Excellent video and advice. I wish we could shoot turkeys here in England. I’ve just bought a mossberg 410 full fixed choke 500 hushpower , and we are told that you cannot put steel shot through in , ?, I hope it gets sorted before lead is fazed out 😏,, keep them coming 👍🤠
Apex made a shot with straight no.10 tss on their instagram at 62 yds and it penetrated over two inches in ballistic gel. I’d say it’ll kill a tom no problem.
👍👍🇺🇸
Anybody know what thread pattern the choke tubes are for this gun?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
#9 shot- back in the UK you use that for starlings- #10, thats for rats n stuff. they are both probably protected now. theres like 500 pellets of #9 in a 12 ga.
TSS is around 56% more dense than lead... #9 lead and #9 TSS are completely different animals.
Buffalo Outdoors, you are at 35 yards, but your muzzle is at 33.5 to 34 yards. I know that is "nit-picking" but I only bring it up because I am always curious about it. I use a LabRadar and the measured distances are from it, because the muzzle has to be just to the right or left and even with the unit. I never thought about the difference in distance between me or the muzzle til got I got that thing! What are your thoughts? Great video! As always.
That is nitpicking and not enough difference to make a difference but good info though.
I would love to see this shot through a Contender or Encore pistol barrel!
I believe that you'd be ok at 50 yards. Thanks
