been watching your channel for a little bit now man! love the content, helped me out a ton w/ my cams, keep doing what you're doing dawg!!!
Hey thank you man that’s what I’m here for😊 I had a lot of questions at one point too and I’m still learning 😅
great video! Covers all the basics
Mini dv is digital, it stands for mini digital video casettes
I use a Mac for all my analog video transfers, I love it!
MiniDV is digital. Digital8 is also digital (as the name suggests) Lol! VHS, S-VHS, Video8, and Hi8 are analog. S-Video, composite (AV/RCA) cables are analog, and component cables can be analog or digital.
Hey thanks for sharing man😊 I’m still learning some of this stuff myself as well
@@brandoncameracollection LOL That above response was also me. (I forgot I was signed into my other account, which I never use. LOL!)
Anyway, digital videotape is just pretty much just a series of 1's and 0's recorded as a signal on the tape which represents the red, green, and blue colors and brightness of each frame of video. Analog videotape is basically just a video signal increasing or decreasing of voltage as each frame of video is recorded. (In other words, no "mathematical" digital code.)
I'm 46 years old, so I remember when I was in my teenage years during the 1990's, I used to constantly be carrying a huge VHS camcorder around everywhere! It was heavy, but the thing that was great about holding a heavy machine was that the video was less "shaky" looking. Kind of more stabilized. Now when I pick up my smaller MiniDV camera and use it, the video is so shaky because there's no heftyness to the machine! LOL!
Well I’m glad you’re here to show me some of the things I’m missing 😅 I’m 25 and started this CZcams channel because I was curious about how you digitize tapes and after I found out I became obsessed (not literally) with these old cameras. And yes I have played with quite a few old vhs cameras as well. I had one that was a Panasonic and I absolutely loved the color and tones of the video but I unfortunately got rid of it down the line somewhere when I moved😕
@@am74343 I have a Canon ZR850 (one of the last miniDV units ever made) and it has pretty good software image stabilization, so I don't get that shaky-cam effect.
@@am74343S-video is a perfect alternative to FireWire, is analog but offers you the best quality like FireWire so if you can use S-video use it, FireWire is also an option because Video composite AV offers the poor quality and is not very reliable.
Great video! I'm glad you brought up S-Video. It's the closest thing to a clean digital signal and not enough people talk about it especially when talking about going tapeless!
Yes I totally recommend using s-video for anyone out there who’s cameras are compatible with it.
dude you just saved my life lol.
could you do with tapeless cleaclick 2.0 digital comparison vs tape cause i dont find any videos on yt, it would be cool too if you do this on exact this camera
Well the footage will look the exact same if you capture it from the tape or doing it tapeless
I was wondering what editing software you use? Your vids look upscaled. Thanks.
Adobe Premiere Pro
hey man what would be a good memory card for a gl1?
I think you need to use multi media cards
On the gl1 which cables do u plug into the camera?
Either the av or s-video cable
@@brandoncameracollection thanks bossman your vids have been a huge help they finally restocked the powerplay, idk why my ion isn’t reading my camera, but I’m just gonna hold off till the powerplay comes in. Much appreciated
@kevinjevin1508 do you have the ion video 2 SD?
@@brandoncameracollection it’s the ion video 2 pc I got it really cheap off eBay and it says something about the disc not being supported after I download the software. I had to use some old laptop because mine doesn’t have CD player not really sure why, but the power play is coming in today very hyped for it.
you look like the guy from myth busters lol
You literally just made me laugh so hard 😂 you right though
