    Good tip for the camera turning off as it would be the case on all VXs I've used with tapeless setups for years:
    Press zoom out a few times in between recording, that can circumvent the auto shut off. It occurs after 5 mins of no activity for anyone wondering.
    Is there even a feature to do this on a VX2/21? I don't recall there being one.

      I don’t have this camera anymore but I do have a Sony pd170 and pd150 which are practically the exact same as vx’s. So I’ll have to look in those menus to see. But great idea with the zooming out method. I guess the only reason the camera would really turn of is if f your filming on a tripod for an extended period of time or filming fisheye for skateboarding.

      @fecklessdoodooship Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@brandoncameracollection Definitely going to be the same in terms of how they work, I reckon!
      Yeah I mentioned the zoom out on a vid I did about the MRC1 a while ago, when filming fisheye, something I drummed into my brain whilst filming out and about. Unfortunately there isn't quite an exact work around for someone with a tripod and possibly away from the camera beyond the 5 mins.

    At 06:44 that squeal is "audio feedback", where sound from the speaker on the ClearClick video recorder is being picked up by the camcorder microphone and forming an "endless loop" (IE: feedback) of amplification.
    Maybe use headphones plugged into the AV recorder? That would break the feedback loop.

      Yes that just means your camera has mono audio. The red and white plug in are your left and right audio sources and the yellow is your video. If a camera only has the yellow and white it’s mono. But in your editing software you can change that to play through both speaker’s instead of just one.

    I’m using this same set up on my vx2100, i’ve noticed both of our videos there those little black edges from the cameras footage. is that the camera or clear click causing that, and can you fix it? edit: the immersion powerplay has the same problem

    • @brandoncameracollection
      @brandoncameracollection  Před 10 měsíci

      Are you talking about black bars on the left and right of the screen? If so that is because these older cameras filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio. So the footage was meant to work with more square TV’s and monitors. Now days we use a 16:9 aspect ratio which is more rectangular shape. So when you watch videos that are 4:3 on something that is meant for 16:9 your screen will just leave the space on the left and right empty. Now you can change 4:3 to 16:9 but I don’t recommend because it just stretches the footage to fill the screen and makes it look really weird.

    • @spokk11
      @spokk11 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@brandoncameracollection i swear i had sent a reply but i guess it never went through. basically i was saying i mean the black edges within the 4:3 boundary. like on the right and bottom side there’s a really thin line of black pixels. pixels that should have video/colors instead of black. and also during the footage you can see the bottom edge shaking

    The elephant in the room here being that you are converting down to analog and then recapturing to digital - thus there will always be quality loss to some degree. A DTE recorder would solve a lot of issues here, making an exact digital copy through firewire and would be able to sync with the record button on your camera.

    • @brandoncameracollection
      @brandoncameracollection  Před rokem +2

      What is a DTE recorder? I appreciate the feedback I understand it’s has quality loss. I know there are a lot of different ways to convert your footage and if the DTE recorder isn’t super expensive I’ll definitely look into it. Does it work with any camera with FireWire? Or just Sony?

    • @asprinwizard
      @asprinwizard Před rokem

      @@brandoncameracollection A DTE recorder is basically a Firewire recording device that mounts to your camera as you have done but takes the feed from the Firewire output instead of the analog outputs. They were popular during the transition from tape based cameras to solid state media. The Sony HVR-MRC1 is probably the best as it is very compact and could actually attach directly onto the back of some of the later Sony HDV cameras. But it had an accompanying Firewire bracket with which it could be used with any DV or HDV camera. Other popular models were the Datavideo DN-60 and the Focus Firestore FS-* models. However the popularity was short lived due to the fact that solid state media became the norm quite quickly. As a result they are still quite pricey on eBay and the like - prices are around £300 ($300) typically but you can sometimes find bargains. I recently got hold of a Sony HVR-MRC1 for £180. I also recently build my own DTE recorder using a Raspberry Pi. Just in the final stages or building the software, but that's a whole other story!
