As an RN I can’t carry weapons while working, but my wife bought me a custom pen that I carry everyday at work. The number one comment is that people say is that they would loose such an expensive pen. And I am like why? Just don’t loan it out or set it down. I fully enjoy writing and carrying my awesome Fellhoelter Ti-bolt dragon. Also l have a love for CRKs as well.
Being a machinist is what has drawn me into the knife world. I started collecting a couple years ago. My next knife will be my first CRK. I think it’s going to be the small Sebenza insigno blade with bog oak. That’s what brought me to your video. Do you recommend the knife?
Don't know if you have seen them, but take a look at the Strider .75 AR made by Medford. They are at DLT. This is my 3rd knife made by Medford. If you want to try a knife made by Medford, I think this is their best.
Idk, I can’t get behind the 31. Not sure why or what it is exactly but the action / lockup and disengaging lockup just feels different than on a 21 ...love the 21s
Little did you know, you would end up creating the very tool to substitute fancy knives in those situations. Those NGMco prys are some incredible pieces of gear 🙏
I think the south african makers are a little ahead of most, got an Arno Bernard Orca folder ,kind of pricey but a great knife. People are into different things, anything can get expensive if you search for the best of that item. I think your right about CRK for the money they can't be beat. Just subscribed yesterday and enjoy your content. Quality isn't confined to geography, I've got great knives from all over, I'd prefer to buy USA made if I can but don't limit myself to only USA made or a certain price . I'm searching for the best knife, it's my thing. My fixed blade preference is a Randall ,but then I'm old so probably biased.
I enjoy your content and discussions. I am a total newbie and only wanted to buy one knife and be done. I researched and researched and ended up buying a Chris Reeve large sebenza 31. It’s a work of art and I carry it every day. I am not a collector so I wanted what in my mind was the holy Grail of knives and I found it. Thanks for all your videos
Friend: "You're using that expensive knife?" ARCHMAN: "Yeah man, that's what they're for." Also ARCHMAN seeing someone else use an expensive knife: "What are you doing, man? You know how expensive that is?"
I grew up using knives (im a rural inhabitant), and as a kid growing up I always just used budget knives because I was a kid. But I would beat them up, wear them out, and they just arent made of quality materials. Heck, a knife is a knife, sharpen that edge and you are good to go. Over the years ive changed my mind. A quality knife will treat you better in any given situation, last longer, and if you aren't buying heirloom pieces (~$800+), you are going to have sheer quality to last you decades. I used to use Kershaws until I got my first Chris Reeve, and now I got the 21 Large, large Inkosi, and a small Sebenza 31 that I daily carry to work (I work in a lab and would rather not scare people when I whip out a full size). I use the Inkosi for heavy duty farm use tasks on off-hours and it performs like a beast. I was putting tractor chains on a few months ago with my brother, and we had to cut some excess rope. He asked for my knife, and I handed him my Inkosi. He looked at it, and was like, are you sure? My response was of course, what else are you going to use a knife for? Im totally with you on your message; knives are primarily meant to be used. I don't particularly collect knives, but if im understanding the community, most people shelve anything over ~$200 and just use cheap shit for their tasks?
Definitely. I use everything I have, but I always “think twice.” For instance if I’m cutting down a bunch of cardboard (which since I live in the suburbs now and my recyclers requires 2x2’ max I do a lot of) I think twice & grab a utility knife. If I’m going camping I think twice and take a fixed blade along. But for someone to think they “get” a tool that they’ve never used is bananas.
Archman, I came across one of your videos a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to find something better than a spyderco or benchmade. You introduced me to Chris Reeve knives and in the span of 3 weeks I got 3 of them. 2 small sebenza 31s, one standard pj and one double silver lugs pj. Also got a small inkosi pj with silver lugs. Really like your videos man.
I think that it's okay to carry and use cheap things when you are young and building your fortune but by the time you're in your 40s you have earned the right to own nice things. Buy the expensive guitar. Buy the expensive pocket knife.

Nice vid! Im carryng 21 large, 21 small, umnumzaan old pivot last 10 years. Before i had all spydercos, benchmades, CS and others.
You are AWESOME, and so down to earth, I’m hooked!
Right on! Congrats on the mill! I can't wait to see the progression and I'm excited to follow along from the start of your new journey.
At 44:20 “hafting” is the term you want. You don’t prefer hafted knives.
I'm super excited that you've been making videos again, your channel has always been one of my favorites.
Congrats on the upcoming mill! Super interested to see what you design and produce. Keep up the good work, Archman
That Carothers is sweet! Can't find one anywhere.

That looks pretty sweet!
They definitely look cool, but the blade thickness is like 5mm which is way too thick for my taste 😬 ! How does that work for you ?
@@Halfmoon67 swing & a miss for me. its outside of my sweet spot

Hell yes. That’s exactly what the Lg. Seb is. If a person is gonna have one, that’s the one. Thank you so much for the kind words!!

Was on the live chat last nite, thx for sharing your thoughts.

wow thanks Jake! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. My preferred CRKs are without a doubt the PJs!

A 1992 Gerber lol

Definitely. You gotta learn somewhere! 👊
