Gene Hackman was a better choice, a familiar older actors to play the nemesis Lex Luthor, along with Glenn Ford to play Superman's foster-father, and the most familiar older actor of all, Brando, playing the role of the God-like figure. All against Reeves as a relatively unknown character; this is what set up the dynamic of the son, the father, the holy spirit and the devil, that made Donner's "Superman" such an archetype-legend.
I watch so many times " Somewhere in Time " that I travel my self in the past trough dreaming stage . Reeve was a great actor and humanitarian , his wife Dana and Robin Williams , we miss you all a lot , RIP !

Shayne O'Neill I think it was less of a broken heart, more like a motor that was driven so hard that when the time came for her to get some needed rest and joy, the sudden stop was too much to handle. If you know what I am trying to say. Determination and love kept her going more than any normal person could or should have. Truly a sad story.

In my hometown of Louisville Ky my best friend was in a freak accident and now has seizures from time to time but now my hometown is Georgetown Ky I met someone else for many years and kind of in a way became my new best friend but he was murdered back in 2010 so I can definitely relate to Robins sadness.
