I don’t give a damn about my “Bad Reputation !” That was the tune at the very beginning.
Great song! It was also the theme for the show, "Freaks and Geeks."
I wouldn’t play it either, as it’s pretty silly and punky…I always changed the channel if it ever came on!
That’s my fave Joan Jett song ♥️
I loved her performance with Foo Fighters on Letterman a few years back!

@@kjmorley that was freakin awesome! Thanks for that!
Chrissie Hynde in the Pretenders is another great rock chick.
Forgot about Chrissie! Another bad ass rocker!✌❤
Hell yeah!!! She’s a bad ass rocker for sure. ✌️💗😊
Yes! Chrissie is from Cuyahoga Falls Ohio! Please check out " My City Was Gone".
as long as they react to my city was gone. i love that song
“Brass in Pocket”!
She got rejected by 23 major record companies due to her association with The Runaways. So Joan and her manager created their own record label, and one album later, Joan gets a monster number one hit with I Love Rock and Roll. Those 23 record companies I'm sure kicked themselves for passing her up.
NO KIDDING!!!
This is the song that made me fall in love with her music. First Joan Jett song I ever heard on the radio.
Same here. I remember seeing the video and being completely and totally blown away by her badassery, style and flat out sexiness. She's such an icon.
I like her cover "Crimson and Clover " of Tommy James and the Shondells.
I was just thinking about Tommy James. Crimson in Clover is a classic.
Oh hey I just subscribed so I guess I'll be annoying you now. Sorry I can't like👍 your videos but that's my audio-only playlist that I also listen to while driving, anyway, good to have fresh ears on this great music. If you can see my liked video playlist, I recommended all of them.
@paul Provenzano negative on that King Crimson,
Crimson and Clover was written by Tommy James and Peter Lucia in 1968.
Crimson and clover music video ROCKS!!!
GREAT cover
I remember seeing an interview with her and she said, "I don't want to be known as a great female rocker. I want to be known as a great rocker."
I love that!
Joan is still around and still gorgeous
Actually "I Love Rock n Roll" was originally released by a British group the Arrows in 1975. Joan Jett covered it and definitely made it her own and made it a rock anthem in 81.
Man I love R&R I didn’t know that. Great Trivia for me to mess with my hubby about!! Thanks !!
Written by Alan Merrill (an American) taken too soon by us by Covid R.I.P.
I knew it was a cover but didn't know from who thanks for the info
Alan Merrill said he loved this version because he made far more money off this cover than he ever did singing the song himself.
"I hate myself for loving you" is also good.
They already did that 1
Request for Heart’s “Magic Man” and “Crazy on You” a rock band fronted by two bad ass sisters, Nancy and Ann Wilson.

They’ve done barracuda and I think magic man, too
@@HiddenCharmhome Barracuda yes, but not Magic Man
Stairway to heaven is better than led zeppelin own version
I was in a bar when this was played on the big screen for the first time. The whole bar watched and rocked out, no one could take their eyes off it
My hubby was at her concert, people were throwing a ball around and Joan motioned for it to be thrown to her, my husband had just caught it, and tossed it to her. She caught it and winked at him.
Made a great story.❤
Joan Jet winked at me!😂
If you love Joan's voice, her cover of Crimson and Clover really shows how beautiful her voice is.
Yes! My favourite verson by far is a live gig when she is in her '40's and has a shaven head and she is magnificent, such a badass! I dont know if you've seen her in interviews, but she comes across so humble and genuine, it made me love her even more ❤
I second this!
Yes! ❤❤❤
Completely agree with you on that. It's my favourite version by far.
Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!! That song is amazing!
"Do You Wanna Touch" is another amazing song of hers,..nice job as always
My absolute favorite!!!!
yes!! Here's the link - czcams.com/video/IPTIAtqfyME/video.html
Yaasssss!!!!!
"Do you wanna touch" isn't actually hers. The song was originally done by Gary Glitter. But no doubt, Joan Jett did an incredible version of it.
Our 80s Rock Anthem!!
The song on the jukebox is Joan ..............."Bad Reputation". You will love it!
The lead in, Bad Reputation, is Joan Jett also. Definitely worth a reaction.
Y’all very much should do Bad Reputation. Fantastic Joan Jett punk!
My favorite Joan Jett song of all time.
YES! YES! YES! 100%
That opening song Bad Reputation is always badass 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻that’s another Joan Jett song
The rockers today like Joan Jett are still named Joan Jett. She's amazing.
I grew-up in New Jersey, and in the 50s into the 80s, diners had jukeboxes on every booth and counter with songs for 10-cents each and 3 for a quarter... And trust me, We put a lot of dines and quarters listening to Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll"...
Yes. Suzi Quatro was an early rocker you havent looked at yet. Maybe the first of her kind and she wore leather. :) Devil Gate Drive. Can the can

This was probably her most popular but PLEASE try "Do You Wanna Touch Me"
Joan Jett is SO Cool !!
Good one
Gold
Definitely that’s her best.
Ah, roller skating music. I miss those days and being at the rink.
Joan Jett is still rockin’ hard! Saw her live a couple of years ago.
True, but she is getting older like most of us GenXers now....
I saw her in *Maryland* a couple of years ago, they did this song, but she is almost 60 now, so it has lost some of its kick!!
@@zachariahlloyd6043 I’m the same age as Joan. I saw her in 2018 and she still kicked just like she did in the 80’s when I saw her go from an opening act to headliner! Joan Jett and I are Boomers not Gen X.
@@peacetoyou63
Maybe she is a *Boomer* not an *Xer* not certain of that, but she is definitely getting a little long in the tooth for hard rock....
At least from what I saw, I mean she did the hits, but kinna like another icon of mine, *Robert Smith* from *The Cure* she wasn't really putting her all into the notes like when she was younger, and it was noticeable!!
I saw Joan Jett at the Hollywood bowl September 9th 2019 killed it. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Lita Ford is hard rock and she’s a rock goddess! Her and Joan used to be in a band together called The Runaways when they were teenagers. Listen to Kiss Me Deadly
Lita sucked. Joan was the talent and the real rocker
Lita Ford with Ozzy Osbourne!
@@Pugiron she didn't suck they both imo were great in their own ways..stop comparing 🙄
Was not a huge fan of the runaways but I love both Joan's and Lita's work outside of the runaways..both very talented
Drink a few beers, getting high, sitting, watching my life go by. Uh-huh, it ain't no big thing!
That track at the beginning was also actually her too! "Don't Give a Damn 'bout My Bad Reputation" it's also fire!
The music Grandmas are rocking out to today! LOL!
This isn't just 80's, this is a top 5 80's ROCK ANTHEM song, I can guarantee there isn't an 80's rock fan that doesn't spin the volume to full and sings along start to finish. Who's with me sitting next to the radio with the cassette recorder trying to capture this on your mix tape .
Truth
Dude - I am hitting the floor! It's an ALL-SKATE!
Yep!
We could tape anything we wanted to off the radio!!! Hell yeah
Hell to the yea! 🤘😁🤘
From that era? No, I don't think there's any female rocker that can top her. She was the real deal, through and through.
Joan, Pat Benatar and Heart were basically it for women's Rock. Lita Ford would come up into her own more mid/late 80s.
Are you that sure? Listen to Susie Quatro: czcams.com/video/TPTsl3GQffc/video.html
Lita Ford
Chrissie Hynde! No one better imho. She’s written SO MANY great songs.
You want a rock chick the closet to Joan, it would be Alannah Myles, her biggest hit was Black Velvet (which is a song written about Elvis) internationally. She had many hits at home in Canada..Love Is, Lover of Mine, but you should listen to Still Got This Thing (for you). If you want someone harder than Joan try Darby Mills lead singer of the Headpins. Don't It Make You Feel (like dancing), Just One More Time, Staying All Night, Breaking Down. They have her live from Germany here on CZcams. In Fact Canada has a lot of amazing Rocks chick, Sass Jordan, Lisa Dalbello - who later just went by Dalbello. Holly Woods of the group Toronto, Lee Arron, Jane Child etc..
She formed "The Runaways". Thefirst Girlband ever in1975. Withher age 15
More Joan Jett? You gotta do her signature song, “Bad Reputation” Joan is amazing!
"I Love Rock N Roll" is actually her signature. "Bad Reputation" has really only grown in popularity the last few years partly due to Ronda Rousey using it as her entrance theme on Monday Night Raw
Bad reputation was playing on the juke box as Joan entered the bar.
I first heard Bad Reputation when watching the first Shrek movie
@@LilRocker2005 My first intro to Bad Reputation was on the short lived but now cult classic tv show, Freaks and Geeks

Now it's time for The Runaways - "I love playing with fire".
Cherry Bomb!
Joan Jett & Lita Ford 👍 "Neon Angels On the Road to Ruin" comes to mind. 🤘
When she was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 a whole generation yelled at the same time "About TIME!"
I was 12 when this song came out. I bought her album with this song and Bad Reputation album at the same time. She really changed my world.
Joan Jett and the Runaways - "Cherry Bomb" a MUST!!!

Have you done 'Barracuda' by Heart yet? If so, I missed it. That's a good female rocker song. The song on the jukebox was Joan Jett's 'Bad Reputation.'

You guys should do Suzi Quatro's Rock Hard. Suzi is who inspired Joan Jett.
They already did a little by Halestorm. Lzzy from that band is pretty heavily influenced by Joan Jett.

Joan Jett ..... the First Lady Of Rock.
Saw her about 5 years ago and she hasn't lost a beat! My adult daughter was sitting next to me rocking just as hard! No generation gap here!
"I Love Rock n Roll" the story:
When Joan Jett was in her first band the Runaways (all teenage girl punk/metal influenced band) they toured London, England. The Arrows, in England, used this song as a "B-side" song to one of their hits and when Joan heard it she INSTANTLY wanted to do a cover of it on the 2nd Runaways album. However, since the Runaways already did a cover with "Rock n Roll" in the title on the first album in 1976 (Lou Reed's "Rock n Roll"), the girls didn't want to have another song with "Rock n Roll" in the title and look "cheesy" so Joan held onto the song for a bit. Once the Runaways broke up and Joan started to pursue a solo career she originally recorded this song (as well as another one) w/ Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols (another English Punk Rock group). When Joan formed the Blackhearts in 1980 (after she released her first solo record as just "Joan Jett" later renamed "Bad Reputation") her manager thought it was a good idea to RE record the song w/ the Blackhearts and make it a stronger and less "Sophomoric" sounding and THIS is the result. As I posted below, the song went to #1 on the Billboard chart for 8 weeks in a row!!!
Thanks for the history lesson... First hand take...Met and hung out with the Runaways before they became famous. They opened up for my friends band a couple times & being I had a truck I would help haul set up, brake down & my ears were used for the sound check., nope not a roadie just helping my friends.
They were cool girls easy on the eyes & not bad at their craft. Being they were the first all girl rock band, it was only about 6 months later that they went big time.
Lita Ford & Joan Jet came out of the Runaways, Lita's big song was with Ozzie, "If I close my eyes forever" ... That song is reaction worthy.
Who rocks as hard as Joan Jett ?... I can't think of anyone who is really at the top of her league like her back in the day. She's a FIERCE trailblazer !
Now having said that... I put my favorite Female rockers as... Joan Jett... OF COURSE... Then WOW... Wendy O Williams ! Her cover of Kiss's "It's My Life"... the original video is an experience you have to witness ! Then... man I love, and I mean LOVE !... L7... Their live performance of "Pretend We're Dead" from The Wørd 1992 is just a BLAST ! But if you do a live reaction... be prepared not to be able to put it up... just sayin'... Watch the video and decide for yourselves LOL. Also their song "Fast and Frightening" is sheer female adrenaline !, But again, they're punk so be prepared to not get to put it up...
And a current female performer, rocker, punk, is Amy Taylor from an Aussie Punk band, Amyl and the Sniffers ! "Some Mutts Cant Be Muzzled" their concept video is great but their entire live performance at the Burger Boogaloo it FIRE !
joan jett and the blackhearts crismon and clover you will love it
I love "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Probably my favorite by her.
Agreed
You need to check out Lita Ford. She and Joan Jett started in a Band called the Runaways before they both moved onto solo careers. Try Cherry Bomb by the Runaways, Kiss me Deadly by Lita Ford, or Close my Eyes Forever with Lita and Ozzy Osborne
Hard female rockers of today: In This Moment (Big Bad Wolf), Halestorm - which you've touched on, but there's so much more, and Butcher Babies (Yorktown) - ALSO Great reaction. Been in love with Joan Jett since I saw her come out with this song on MTV (yes I'm that old)!
This song transcends the 80s, it's timeless!
Wow i’ve been waiting for Joan Jett, now you got to check out Lita Ford’s kiss me deadly
And her duet with Ozzy Osbourne Close My Eyes Forever is one of my favorites!
Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne. Great song
Yes. If anyone could be listed alongside Joan Jett, it's Lita Ford. Ironically, before she hit it big, Joan Jett was in an all-female band called The Runaways when she was just a teenager. One of her bandmates was Lita Ford. The Runaways' signature hit was "Cherry Bomb", which you should also check out!
Lita is actually better known for her guitar playing than singing. She's considered the best female guitarist of all time by many.
@@morningcoffeebreak7367 Maybe, and I love Lita Ford. But IMO Nancy Wilson of Heart is the best female guitarist of all time. And one of the top guitarists of all time - male or female.

Definitely two of their best. Both are classics.
Yup, magic guitar by Nancy
You can't go past their cover of Stairway To heaven when Led Zeppelin got honored at the Kennedy Center. I'd also recommend their single Alone
Heart in the 70s was the embodiment of female rock power. They went more pop in the 80s, but still sounded great.

80s IS SO AWESOME
It's 80's. And this song is iconic Joan Jett. Ppl in the bars and clubs across America that play rock still rock out to this. I've seen her in concert twice. Once when I was 16 and then again about 5 years ago when I was 44 and she can still rock a concert. It's crazy seeing that little bitty woman rock out with that huge voice!
Joan Jett is on Rolling Stone's 100 best guitarists list.
Lita Ford - Larger Than Life, this is her in all her 80s Metal glory. A fast, upbeat song that really shows off her talent as a singer and badass guitarist.
There's only one way to put it. Joan Jett is a rock goddess. 🪨
You won't see that no more, maybe next life. Different styles now.
I recall being floored by Joan Jett when i first saw this and heard her. In the metal/hard rock genre for the MOST part, women were in bikinis or prancing in the background of the all male bands at the time and here comes this tiny lady with a massive voice and attitude, flaunting her sexiness but also her skills. Clearly she's gorgeous and exudes sexiness from every pore BUT for me, the one word that always comes to mind first when i think of her is...BADASS. She was and is a badass.. legend..icon..trendsetter.. amazing lady!

Joan Jett was one of my idols in high school. That was in the mid-late 70s. And she's still rocking it just as hard.
The 70's and 80's was just full of great hard rocking female voices.its a shame the latest generation strive to be a Kardashian and not a rock queen!
Actually there are other girls in the business, but most of them are into demonic Metal. I say demonic because what else would you call it when they growl like the spawns of Satan.
The only girl band that I know of currently that basically does just Rock & Roll are Japanese. Most of what Band Maid does is sung in Japanese, some of it is in English, but make no mistake, they are 5 girls that bring it.
They’ve got a huge following and it’s growing. US tours usually get sold out and the Europeans love them. Listen to Onset for starters, it’s one of my favorites. 😎

These are just some of the recent female fronted hard rock/metal bands (or solo singers) that I know of (and there are a LOT more in Europe, Japan, and can be found on the internet here in the States if you look for them).
Not sure what you've been listening to, but it sure sounds like just a regular "pop"/top 40 radio station (which at least as far back as the 80s, haven't exactly been known for anything hard or edgy; you typically get stuff like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Backstreet Boys, and so on).
@@heavybrett-al4082
I would say there are actually far more (and more talented) female singers and musicians right now then there ever were in the past (and I'm almost 50, so I've been around to hear most of those times).
No disrespect to anyone who came before, but it's definitely a better time for people to hear and learn music (and especially to create their own) than at any time before now, so relatively speaking, it's far easier to find those diamonds in this musical generation compared to previous ones (especially since in the past, if you weren't one of the miniscule percentage of artists lucky enough to get a recording contract, it was almost impossible to either become known, or even just stay in the music business). It's just a matter of time and energy to find something you can appreciate.
I would also say that no matter the era, the majority of musicians tended to follow the easy money (i.e. make whatever trash the recording studios pushed you to do), rather than take a stand and make what they want just because they lived what they were doing (and risk losing your contract and capability to support yourself).
Only those who had either some means of self sufficiency (or managed to make it so big so quickly that no one could tue them down) would have the capability to completely resist any pressure from the recording labels, so I can understand the plight, but feel it's a great shame to lose so many talents in the past to mediocrity (not necessarily sales-wise, but in loss of creativity).
Forty years later, this still gives me goosebumps from the very beginning.
This song was such a vibe when it came out. One of my all time favorites… brings back amazing memories.
You mentioned liking red leather on Billy Idol. A popular late 70s/early 80s group called the Romantics also wore red leather suits. Their biggest hit was "What I Like About You" from 1979/80.
Talking In Your Sleep was my favorite
One suggestion, try out The Runaways “Cherry Bomb”. Joan Jett was a founding member of that group along with Cheri Curry and Lita Ford. Speaking of Lita Ford, try out her song “Kiss Me Deadly”, it really shows both her singing abilities and her skills on the guitar. She is considered the best female guitarist in history.
Seconding Lita Ford, and let's not forget Lita's duet with Ozzie Osbourne(!), "Close My Eyes Forever"!
Was going to say that too
Anything from. The runaways
My thoughts exactly !!
Cherry Bomb for sure! The Runaways' version! 🍒 💣
Joan is definitely a bad-ass rocker!
I was lucky enough to see Bryan Adams, Joan Jett and Loverboy all on the same bill. It was New Years Eve at the Forum in Los Angeles in the early 80's. Best concert EVER. You guys need to do some Loverboy. Huge band from Canada back in the late 70's and early 80's.
Hard rocker comparable to Joan: Lita Ford. Her, Joan and a couple other girls started “The Runaways” band in their teens. Lita does a duo with Ozzy that’s cool, “Close my Eyes Forever” if you want to cover that midweek or she has a solo “Shot of Poison” that’s nice.
Couldn't agree more. Lita Ford rules.

Try Crimson and Clover, or Love is All Around ( Mary Tyler Moore show theme song remake. Amazing!)
Female Friday suggestions :
Hole - Celebrity Skin
Lita Ford - Kiss me Deadly or Close my eyes Forever
Fiona Apple - Criminal
Good Ones! I've suggested Hole's "Doll Parts" previously, too.
I LOVE Joan too....
Helen Reddy..."I Am Woman" perfect song for Female Friday! Those who agree give a thumbs up!!
Hear me roar 😁
When I was a kid in the ‘70s, I had a killer Helen Reddy impression-I prided myself on sounding just like her on Delta Dawn.
@@kathyastrom1315 another great one 💗
"I grew up in a world that said women can't play rock n roll." -- Joan Jett.
Joan Jett and Pat Benatar ruled the 80's female rocker scene! I suggest Pat's song "Fire and Ice".
If you’re going to start doing movies the Runaways must be on your list.
lol... I was gonna mention that too.
Good movie. No clue how accurate it is, but it is a good movie. It isn't specific about Joan Jett, it's more about the overall relationship between all the girls in the band and what not, but you do get some decent Joan Jett stuff.
@@ar47yrr4p I think they focused too much on Joan & Cherie.
@@ar47yrr4p Joan was executive producer on the movie and it was based on Cherie Currie's book "Neon Angel"
To anyone who says that Kristen Stewart can't act, "The Runaways" is one of the ones I throw out as an example of a good performance by her
Back in '82, I was in Florida at a bar, and when this came on, the entire bar stopped in their tracks and started just belting this out!! So much fun!!🎶💜🎵
I think that happened everywhere this song was played. 🎼🎶🎤
@@jillwklausen yes!!😁🎵🎶
Yay! Thanks for putting these back up! I love Joan. Great reactions
