Yes, Brittny did cover this song as well as Joan Jett. The original was done by the Arrows in 1975. This song had my granddaughter (age 6) in tears. She was playing the Brittny version and I started to sing along. Granddaughter looked at me funny and asked me how I knew it. I told her it was an old song and she argued with me that Brittny just came out with it. I pulled up Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and when Granddaughter heard it she started to cry because Brittney stole it from someone else. I explained so did Joan Jett, but both were good.
Sadly at the time sometimes the only way some women could get airtime was kinda like “casting couch”. I listened to some old DJ’s and they had some friends that laid with her to be heard on the radio.
