Ricks basically isolated the universes where he’s the smartest person and put a barrier around them, evil morty just broke out of that barrier and looks like he destroyed the barrier entirely
I don’t know if he destroyed the barrier entirely. It’d be pretty insane if it turns out he did though
I can’t believe we’re just brushing off the fact that Rick isolated a part of an infinite multiverse
@@Archalias100 because isolating a part of infinity is still infinity
@@nobodynowhere8061 it definitely looks like he did destroy it, after Morty makes it through, he shows a hologram of the curve being destroyed, might not actually be gone but I think it's safe to assume it is for now
smexy wexy yeah, I think it’s 50/50. That could either represent the central finite curve being destroyed or just that he’s out of the curve

I like how Rick just hijacks all the tech he came across this season - like the pain/pleasure monster during the evil Morty showdown, Phoenix person’s wings when he was crow Rick.

I think the genius of the ending is that it is open ended - yet provides sufficient closure for Evil Morty to where he does not need to return. His goal has been revealed and he succeeded, and has the infinite multi-verse to travel. If he never returns, I see Evil Morty as sort of a metaphor for a character who has discovered they are trapped in a show like Rick and Morty, and who has successfully escaped to wander the rest of universe. That is, by walking through the portal, he has left the confines of the show. A great finale that saw the completion (?) of an excellent arc and that not only suggested new threats (due to the possible destruction of the CFC), but gave the possibility of a more solid relationship between Rick and Morty.
did evil morty leave the curve or is it the curve destroyed?
He left the curve. The curve still exists
Supposedly they are in the middle of writing season 7, so at least 2 more seasons confirmed. I don't believe for a second that this ending is going to be the last time we see Evil Morty or anything outside of the "Curve".
@@user-rl3oy7em8g his hologram also showed the universes exploding so I think the wall isn’t there anymore
@@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 Honestly idk what else they could do with him. He completed his goal and "defeated" Rick. If they do bring him back im interested in seeing what they do with him.
This season's finale was epic and the way they adapted Morty's evil music was great, epic. This epic symphonic version hints at the zenith of evil morty, great and epic at its finest. They exaggerated this episode, it's too good.
I legitimately sank to my knees in front of the tv when the beat dropped. I was quite literally floored
@@eileensnow6153 nothing to do this episode was epic
Evil Morty didn’t just escape the curve, he broke it. Meaning you can have adventures in realities that are far more crazier and dangerous with threats that can easily rival and even dwarf Rick’s intelligence. Raising the stakes even further, now that there are realities where he is vulnerable. This opens the possibilities regarding storytelling, new big bads and build new canon and lore for the foreseeable future with all roads eventually leading to Evil Morty. The only question left in this series, is why does Rick have such a close attachment to this Morty, the Morty we’ve been following since season 1. Remember he held Morty when he was a baby (season 1 episode 9), so there is more canon lore yet to be revealed.
i don't think they will do more with evil morty given that harmon and roiland hate fans asking them about it.
Tbh, Evil Morty is just as vulnerable in this new universe, so I don't see him being like a big bad anymore, and he really has no reason to further involve himself with C-137 Rick, or any Ricks for that matter. Tbh the only reason I see him appearing more is an episode following his adventures or wherever he ends up, or an episode where C-137 Rick and Morty bump into him by chance. But I do think he definitely will reappear
He’s such an interesting character. It would be a waste to just dump him. The thing that’s clearly set up here is how canon is so important to the series, because Rick’s constant need for mindless nonsensical one and done stories is his way to escape his past and live in denial. The show is demonstrating that his philosophy of nothing matters is total nonsense regardless of how he dresses it up, because if nothing mattered he wouldn’t try so hard to avoid canon. Evil Morty’s character is the embodiment of reality/past always creeping up on you and eventually Rick will have to learn to face his demons figurative or literal.
@@44briggs but Rick did face it. He opened up to Morty. There’s no reason for evil Morty to still be involved with Rick. You’re just desperate to be right with your fan theories
@@mcslayer9796 I thought this was the finale tho, so is there going to be more seasons of Rick and morty?
I feel like Harmon is inserting his philosophy of toxic smart people slowly torturing themselves into Rick and his other characters like Jeff Winger and Abed Nadir.
Didnt know he had that philosophy since i have yet to watch community besides a few clips
@@thefakecat8340 its worth making the time to watch it. It hits a lot of these notes and it’s only 6 seasons. You can see Harmon’s influence creative mark.
Abed wasn't a toxic character at all though. He had his unnerving moments, but been a wholesome person
@@smarkslowplay3512 abed started a lot of conflict in the show because he wanted a “story”
@@smarkslowplay3512 yet still suffers sometimes from his intelligence. Although not like jeff, but still they make situations more complicated than they need to be.
Evil Morty played it perfectly by using that message "Nobody leave, everyone stay" knowing Rick would immediately do the opposite and try to leave.
I still want to know why that Morty of all Morty's became Evil Morty. With infinite Morty's, you would think there would be more than one Morty that got sick and tired of Rick's shit, provided that is the only thing that made Evil Morty who he is.
Evil Morty told that to our Morty. Eventually, all Morty’s at one point become Evil Morty. Evil Morty is just the state of mind when you want to leave Rick or go against him. This Evil Morty decided to act on that state of mind
Yeah I think the idea behind Evil Morty was that it could be any Morty, like how the point of Spiderman is that anyone could have been bitten by the spider. It's the person behind it that makes them special
Its because hes the mortiest Morty just like the Rick we are following is the rickiest Rick. So evil Morty is basically Ricks original Morty.
@@metroshootu7377 No? Our Rick doesn’t have an original Morty because Beth died as a child.
@@maximosjuan1 which is backed up by the line in episode 8 where young rick doesn't know who Morty is because he didn't exist
My theory as to why Rick cares more about Morty than even his own daughter.
He absolutely loved his wife and daughter..and they died. He never got to have HIS Morty…
Which is why the version of his family he went back to he has stuck with that version of Morty(our MC Morty) through everything, he may not have his original Beth and Wife but he has this Morty and doesn’t want to lose him.
So why doesn't he care about summer in the same way?
@@becauseofobi-wan3543 Nobody cares about Summer

His Morty is from the universe that got f'd up, this Rick's "original" Summer is still in the Cronenberged apocalypse world but even that Summer is not HIS summer. This current family is the dead Rick's family minus Morty who is from the Cronenberg dimension.
@@becauseofobi-wan3543 Summer was a mistake.
Anybody else think that the reason why it’s a gold portal “evil” Morty goes through is because all portals restricted to the curve were green? Maybe a portal could be any multitude of colours, but because they were restricted to the curve it was set to ever be only one colour?
We got 3 colours
My theory: Blue portals can only travel inside one universe and they have to be turned on from both sides. Green is interdimensional but only inside the curve while gold/yellow means really interdimensional

The 40 Year Old Mort-gin (Morty accidently transforms back into his older self and works at a Best Buy, chaos ensues)
This is probably THE best episode so far. These guys straight out valued themselves
don’t be a menace to morty while drinking your rick in the hood
Evil morty isn’t evil remember. He’s just a morty that thinks Rick, isn’t as smart as he think he is, and realize he doesn’t need that toxic relationship in his life.
... and tortured a fuckton of Mortys in season 1, enslaved a bunch of Mortys at whipcrack in this episode, and ruthlessly slaughtered a bunch of Ricks and Mortys at the end of this episode...
Just sayin, feel like you're leaving out a few details like mass torture, mass enslavement, and mass murder. He's no better than Rick.
Truth is hes just as evil and wants a universe without Rick's heavy influence
@@bemore2886I think it could be so he can become the smartest man in that universe. It'll be the Rick dimension vs the morty dimension.
@@DazHotep6EQUJ5 I'd pay to watch that. Even tho I never pay for media lol
I loved the fact that the last three episodes were more connected than the rest of the season.
One of the main writers said that is what they want to do more of moving forward. That they want things to feel more connected then in the past.
29:00 When Chris throws his hat off, you KNOW he's into it! (also him starting to shush people so we can hear the backstory better lol)
Rick is the reverse of "He Who Remains."
This episode also gave away the most heartbreaking plot twist: the real Beth died with her mother(Rick’s wife)
So all this time, Rick was lying to both the Beth we know, and to the Clone Beth which he sent in space.
Fvking tragic
O H N O
I also think the fact that they don't overdo the cannon story really fits into Rick's whole character arc. He's experienced so much loss and fucked up multidimensional chaos that he's over his character's whole "main story" or essentially his overall character arc. He'd rather go around his own "crib" causing chaos and doing what he wants. I actually love the fact that they experiment with the show in this way because it makes these kinds of episodes so much more impactful for Rick and Morty.
Who else felt so hurt after seeing Rana’s face during Mr. Poopybutthole end credit scene ? Damn that hit different ! Wish her all the best tho 🙏🏾
I am not sure I understand.
My emotions are all over the place between that and the Steve Burns video.
There is still some holes in his memories. Remeber when he was first scanned he was holding a baby morty. This does not fit in with the timeline shown
There is a chance he met a baby morty while hunting down the other rick and no one noticed him coming in?
Yeah that was a mistake by the animators. They wanted to make montage of all emotional moments of Rick's life and just included that by mistake
@@arafat9828 Was it ever stated to be a mistake. If not its probably just foreshadowing to a future plot point
@@dontmatter4804 pretty sure it's a mistake but they can probably write around it in a future episode or something

What a great 2-part finale this was. Overall I think this season was really good, definitely a step up from season 4. The wine time dimension episode, the Planetina episode, and the last 3 episodes of this season were probably my favorite.
Really? I think this season was by far the worst season, and it had some of the worst episode in the entire series, with the sperm episode taking the cake. That being said, it also had some of the best episodes in the series, like the premiere episode, and the last 3. But overall, S5 was mixed. The last 3 episode definitely improved the overall rating, but generally it was a mixed season, and for me the worst.
True I like this season better than 4
@@Mic-Mak I feel like the finale made up for the sperm episode(equivalent exchange). The rest of the season was generally good. The only other weak episode i can think of was the Hell one.
@@atpr3241 Yeah. At least there were enough good episode to let us know that the writers are still capable of writing great episode. I personally am ok with R&M taking a year and a half between seasons, like it used to, if it means great episodes from start to finish. But I suspect some fans might not be ok with that. And probably the suits too. When they churn episodes fast, the quality is bound to suffer.
@@Mic-Mak Tbh I liked the sperm episode more than 3,5, and 7. At least it was memorable
Wait a second, if doofus Rick is in the citadel, that means he is the smartest in his universe
He's from universe where everyone is stupid
yes hahhahah
Unless he's originally from outside the curve
I read one of the comics ages ago, and apparently in that universe Jerry is the brilliant one.
In doofus ricks universe it was actually doofus jerry that ended up being the smartest and ruled the world. In the comics our Rick and morty actually fought doofus jerry. It was a pretty crazy comic arc
You know what I just realized? Rick isolated all the universes where he is the smartest man because he couldn’t find the Rick that killed his family, not because of his ego. He doomed all the Rick’s smart enough to be the version that killed his family to the Central Finite Curve.
Fun fact: The very first scene in episode 9 was originally a parody of the real world in Afghanistan completely by coincidence. But for some reason it was changed to what you see here before it aired on TV.
Any citations for this fact?
@@ponyomizaki5245 Yes, please, provide a source. I also immediately assumed that E09 aired with E10, because it's opening joke read like a comment on the US' withdrawal from Afghanistan, and Adult Swim might have considered it insensitive to air last week or before. I know Family Gay didn't air an episode because it has a violent joke on the Boston marathon that happened on the same week of the terrorist attack. That was confirmed, though. My theory is pure speculation.
Rick makes his own portal fluid normally morty just refueled at the citadel when he got age medicine so it was tampered with why everyone assume ricks portals just gonna be perma fucked xD
If you remember, in the previous episode, Morty and Nick fucked up his portal fluid supply line. (Provided that part was canon, the lizard men might not actually have fluid but worth keeping in mind)
Maybe his portal gun couldn't handle the CFC being broken and malfunctioned.
Rick has a blue shirt. Morty has a yellow shirt. Those colors together, they got a green portal. So all green portals are in the multiverses with Rick and Morty together.
It could also be just the function of the portal - we saw blue portals being used for in-dimensional local transport. Green portals only have been seen used inside the Curve and golden one and others between different dimensions in infinite Multiverse. But also we have seen purple portal that also allowed travelling outside the Curve (but it was made in the Magic Realm, so that's also kinda different rules probably.
But I wouldn't be suprised, if they just used those randomly. Evil Morty's theme is golden, so him having a golden portal would also make sense.
The episode went from 0 to 100 VERY quick. Definetly one of the best if not the best episode of the series
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the reason why Rick sealed off his Multiverses (where he's a genius) into a Central Finite Curve is because he's isolating himself away from his most hated nemesis (not Mr. Nimbus). This nemesis being the most smartest and most dangerous man in the whole Multiverse. Making Evil Morty look like a saint in comparison.
With the exception of the ones Rick isolated himself in, where said nemesis also has his dumbest versions where Rick can push around. Yes! The ultimate god-like dictator of the whole Rick and Morty Multiverse...
Jerry!
I think it was just purely his ego doing it. But hey I like your idea too
Ngl I really like this idea
There are probably numerous reasons and I would be a bit disappointed if there was only one.
Hate to break it to you but that idea was already done in the Rick and Monty comics. Remember doofus Rick? The one that supposedly eats poo? Apparently the Jerry in his world is super smart and basically a super Rich business tycoon who can also outsmart any version of Rick.

I think a no country for old men themed R&M episode would be cool lol
Oh fuck yeah
Wow so that flashback has a lot of questions!
-So in Ricks universe, his wife and Beth are dead so that isn’t his actual his Morty.
-Where is the Rick is from Morty's universe.
-Rick showed up at Beth's when Morty was older, but there's a picture of him with baby Morty at Birdperson's house.
-Rick talks to Beth about memories of what he made for her when she was growing up (ABC's of Beth), but he never raised Beth.
-That portal gun the Rick that murdered Rick's wife and Beth looks like the prototype Morty and his buddy stole the previous episode.
There's probably a ton more but that's those are the ones that first popped into my head watching that.
Can i add?
Why Rick's wife is dead in all realities, where Rick smart enough to invent portal gun?
@@JleTo_ff Because Rick's drive to be the smartest is cooled by his wife's existence, who he becomes after losing her would be incapable of resuming a real relationship with her.
