    A helpful hint. Instead of using pliers or some other metal tool to remove the bobbin shuttle (which can cause burs or other damage) use a magnet.

    • @kslam5733
      @kslam5733  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for your idea. The bobbin driver is guite hard to be pulled out by magnet. As it is not always needed to move the driver out, using plier just once or twice does not matter.

    What I had done of course was follow the (other) youtube vids that said to take out the bobbin carrier & clean up then replace.
    So I did - and presumed it could only go back in one- way.

    I bought one of these machines and it keeps cutting the thread from the main spool as the needle is going into the base plate. I think it must have something to do with the timing of the bobbin but I have checked and rechecked the timing as you have it in your video. What an I missing?

    • @kslam5733
      @kslam5733  Před 5 lety +3

      Many possible areas need to take care:
      1. Polishing works : every sharp edge along the path the thread goes, e.g the bobbin carrier (edges and holes), hole the needle goes through on the shuttle bed.
      2. Any unnecessary tensions created : the thread spool too heavy for the thread to pull, the thread loops formed and jampped in the tension disc
      3. Thread and needle not matched: too heavy thread with small sized needle
      There are many videos on using this machine available on the internet, go through them carefully and soon you will find the gists. Practise more too and learn from the mistakes.

    Hello. Perhaps you can help. I bought the Chinese shoe patch machine in October of 2022. I spent a month watching videos, etc. For some reason I could not get the machine to pick up the bobbin thread. So frustrated I put in the closet for a year. Pulled it out recently, and finally fixed the bobbin thread issue. Once the bobbin pickup worked, then I had an issue of the upper thread breaking. Watched some more videos, and did some intense sanding of all the bobbin parts. That stopped the breaking. Now, the thread is too loose. Before I just immediately tighten the bobbin spring, can you tell what would be causing the bottom thread to be too loose on my finished tests?

    • @kslam5733
      @kslam5733  Před 7 měsíci

      1. Tighten the small flat on the side of the bobbin. 2. If not work, tighten the upper thread knob. The result is the bottom thread cannot move the upper thread too much. Bottom thread would be tightened then.

      @kslam5733  Před 3 lety +1

      I have used the T135#20 thread with needle 18 for upholstering the sofa leather. They were both ok with occasional snaps not because of the thread and the needle but the friction created for stitching the thickest areas. I haven't tried needle 22. In theory they are too large for the machine. This big sized needle would create very big friction when passing through the shuttle plate hole and inside the shuttle bed groove. The 3 items (top thread, bobbin thread and the needle) would go through the 2 layers of leather and the abovementioned at the same time. Friction created would snap the thread. If you enlarge the shuttle plate hole and the shuttle bed groove, it may be possible to solve the snapping problem. I haven't tried this. You should learn more on this before you try.
      The T70#69 thread is good for leather work - not too thin. Needle 16 and 18 are good too for this thread.

      Thread should match with needle size. Don't use too thick thread for small size needle. You can find out by looking at the needle groove, the thread would go into this groove when you sew. If too thick thread used, it will not fit into this groove. The thread will break after a few stitches. I usually use needle size 18 for my projects. My thread size is 210D / T70. Try loosening the stitch length screw to increase the stitch length. If it's screwed too far in the stitches stack up and does not move forward. This is the screw with the single spring under the top machine arm. Also you could check your pressure foot tension if it's slipping on the material which is the double spring screw next to the stitch length screw.

    Thanks... My machine was not picking up the thread from the bobbin and I could not figure out why. Since it came from the Chinese seller with thread (more like clear monofilament fishing line) in the bobbin, thread through the thread pathway of the machine, and a supposed sample piece of thick leather-like (i.e. fake leather) material that had been sewn, it would seem like they are saying that it is correctly set up and ready to sew. Nope... There's no way that they could have picked up thread from the bobbin in the position that they had the carrier installed.

    • @kslam5733
      @kslam5733  Před 5 lety +1

      The machine needs a lot of filing of the edges of areas in contact with the thread. If needle thread cannot take up bobbin thread, the following areas need your attention: the needle is correctly positioned or not (thread groove of the needle on left), Bobbin driver aligned with the needle movement (Timing). Carefully examine the structure of these areas, you should find out the solution. Learning from the CZcams videos is also a great help.

      Usually, the factory would set up the machine properly. For beginners, what they are concerned about most is the reinstalling of the bobbin driver which they have lifted out accidentally. This is the purpose of the video.
      The disassembling of the nuts to tune in the 9 o'clock position is a challenging job for the beginners. If they need so, there is no short cut or any golden rule to follow. Trial by error is the natural answer. Moving the moveable bar and the bobbin driver in 9 o'clock position until they match. This is the natural way out and need not be taught.
