To ensure your bobbin shuttle and gears are set up correctly, make sure your handle on your crank it at the 12:00 position and your bobbin shuttle plate is facing the 3:00 position. (Follow the same placement as shown at 3:20 in the video)

You sir are what makes the internet worth while!!! Thank you so much for these videos.
I was about to start either throw things or start crying (or both) but this fixed it. :)

Me too
I appreciate the way you clearly instruct how to overcome one's problems with the sewing machine. Thanks.
I just got one of these yesterday. And I am so thankful for all your videos. They are very informative and extremely helpful. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Really helpful thanks. Got my machine running with this video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for posting these videos. I picked up a used machine the previous owner gave up on for dirt cheap, Got it de-burred lubed and several adjustments and now it works great. The videos made it easy.
Glad to help
Thanks. Your demos are clear and concise. A rare talent.
I just got mine for Christmas.I am watching your video and getting tips that others haven't told me about-like the gear in the bobbin case!Thank you- I am gonna get the hang of it eventually!
Glad I could help!
Oh gee, I just learned something that will fix a problem with a modern machine.
THANK YOU!! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with this machine! Huge help!
great video! Using this and few more of your videos i was able to time and sew with my new machine. One thing I did in addition was to add thick grease to the bearing portions on the cam, wheel, pitman arm, and other rotating surfaces. it's smooth as butter now.
wow man cant thank u enough the minute i made adjustments and saw the loop being made from the bobbin i got hype thanks
This thing would be laying in the woods somewhere if it wasn't for your videos, and after your videos help me out, I'm smiling a loving it again. Thank You so much.
Listen to all your videos on the bobbin not picking up the thread, following all your suggestions, nothing worked, finally figured it out, if your needle shaft falls out of the hole on top, if you don't put it back in the hole, in the right position your bobbin won't thread, simple but had me up for 3 nights trying to fix
Thank you for this video, I did the 12 and 3 and it picked up the first time and didn't miss a stitch after that.
Good deal, thanks for commenting.
Same here!
Thank you for making this video, I got my bobbin holder in the wrong position and couldn't figure out how to stick it back in. You saved the day!
A REALLY BIG THANKS! after 4 days of trying to get my needle to catch the thread, from your videos I was able to solve this problem in a few minutes!!!
I'm still can't get it any pointers
If it wasn't for your videos I'm sure my new Chinese sewing machine would be in the trash by now. Although there are plenty of other videos yours has a way of getting to the bottom line. Thank you very much.
finally the answers to my sewing machine problem ! Thank you !

I had this problem and thought the piece under the bobbin was the problem but the book i have doesn't give the correct position. Thank you so much, you saved me so much frustration. I was ready to throw it out and buy a different one.
What ?? You got a book with yours ?
Thank you for the video still useful today 😁

So nice of you!! Blessings for you and your family as well, I hope you fully recover soon.
Thanks so much. You solved my problem. I would have never got this thing working. Machine didn't come with any real instructions, just a part diagram and trouble shooting guide which was not helpful.
Great video. Will be referring to this.
Great informative video!
Thank you
Perfect! Thank you!
I envy your machine; mine won't even pick up the bobbin thread. Hook and needle timing is correct; I'm going back to my old Singer until I can get an old 29K with the narrow bed.

Thanks for the info. It helped me stay focused until I finally got it
Great to hear!
Awesome video
i really enjoyed gunna watch them all i looking for presser foot questions. like replacement like an open one so can see sewing
+Corporal Oddball Hopefully you have you answer by now, but parts are sold thru Bantam Tack Saddle-Stuff. Get a flex neck lamp for viewing, but I find the pressor foot is open nicely and very easy to see the needle action/position if this is what you want. The pressor foot is not hardened steel, so the teeth can be filed gently to still grab, yet reduce marking you products like leather. A replacement pressor foot could be place in a vise, and cut, grind or modify with dermal, hacksaw or other tools.
Mine was sewing at an angle, a post pointed out one side of the pressor foot is low to twisted. I doubled a plastic bag, dropped the foot, pulled it a little to see witness marks. It was touching on the right side first. In the vise, using a magnetic torpedo level to get plumb, the across foot to see level, it was not. Using a cresent wrench, gently twist it ever so slightly, test with level. place on machine a repeat. Mine sews straight now. Not rocket science as we are paying bottle rocket prices here. Hope this helps other who read post as well.
Subscribe to Mainely Acres and support or just like. The guy take a lot of time here and facebook too. Thumbs up.
Thanks for your videos, loved them now i need 1 to1 so where do i pay, i am still having trouble picking up the thread from the bobin. I have done the adjustments like u said and made sure my bobin is correct. Thanks Kathy
Very helpful
Very helpful.... I just ordered one and was wondering how the bobbing was done and how to connect it
Thanks! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask away.
Thank you! This video helped!
Glad it helped!
As an leather and silver jewelry hobbyist in my older days(58 years) here in Finland, i am going to buy one of these machines. I have seen many videos about this machine and how to set it up. But your video is far more better than i have seen. You are a true master when it comes to tutorials. You saved me from many hours of distress. For that i thank you. In the latest video about this machine, you mentioned that if i wan´t to use thicker thread, i should skip the second thread tensioner. Does that mean i can use waxed #462, or 0,0315 diameter thread? Thank you for possible answer.
I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comment. Sometimes these comments get away from me. Waxed thread is not recommended on these machines because it will gum up the tension disks. Once that happens, your tension will be all over the place. The largest thread recommended is T207. I am not sure what that equates to in-diameter thread size.
great video .can u tell me how to set the timing when installing the crank handle ?
Hopefully you have found your answer by now, but he has other videos that cover this issue. The answer is the hand wheel handle is at 12 O’Clock. This where you ate the bobbin drive at 3 O’clock and the bobbin shuttle drops in. Using large thread like TEX 135 / Size 138 will work in the needle series HA X 1, metric 110/18. TEX 135 has a 21 lb. tensile strength if using bonded nylon thread.
I use this thread in the bobbin tension thru #2 bottom hole, across tension spring into #1 top hole closest to hook.
Hope this helps all.
Thank you for the videos. Have you experienced the top thread snapping Inside the bobbin?
Yes I have. If your having that issue check out these videos too:

have watched your videos and started to set up my machine and the first time I cranked the handle the cams moved ( set screws not tight enough) can you show how to adjust the cams thanks,
I will add that to my next sewing video. It should be up soon
Thank you .
Good job
Thanks
Thank you for the vid! Not sure if you’ve covered this but my stiches are different sizes. For example, one row will be smaller stitches. Then when I move the direction of the foot I get longer stitches. Do you know why?
Thanks in advance!
The two arms that have the rounded ends that operate the sewing head are bent. Would need to see your machine to know for sure.
Finally fixed my problem
Good deal
I can't seem to keep the upper thread from breaking. Have adjusted tension and done everything I can think of. Your videos have helped a lot but I haven't seen one with my problem. Does the tension need to be really tight? I am having problems with loops underneath when I can get it to sew a bit. Doesn't seem to matter what I do, three or four stitches or less and the upper thread breaks. It almost looks like it is frayed. I will have to send it back I guess, unless you can help.
thanks
les
Check out my playlist of Q and A and sewing videos and if that does not help I can always meet up in a facebook video chat to help out.
Thank you
Hey Mainely how we doing today? I watched your video on motorizing the shoe patcher very interesting. You mentioned trying a different motor I've been watching out for that video but haven't seen it yet ? If you haven't had the chance to do it yet that's ok but I would very much like to see it before I motorize my machine. Keep up the good work JB
I have not added a new motor yet. I am hoping to find some free time coming up soon.
wow i will get my sewing machine going,i hope
O0⁰
It didn’t work for me and I followed your directions exactly. It refuses to catch the thread from the lower bobbin and pull it up no matter what i try. Any ideas?
alright, new issue im experiencing, after stitching on leathers and suedes of different thickness' the tension on the bottom threads seem to has loosened. You can see the looseness on the bottom, also if you put the bottom thread, it slips right out. How do you fix the tension on the bobbin thread? Ive screwed the screw on the bobbin as tight as it will go.
There are two ways to make adjustments to the spring tension on the bobbin shuttle. The first way is to adjust where the spring comes in contact with the thread on the shuttle with the shuttle threaded. Using a small screwdriver move the spring up to the top of the channel and give a test pull. If the thread pulls right out, move the spring to the lower end and give it another try. If that does not fix it, move on to step two which requires removing the spring and adding a slight downward bend to the spring, this will give a bit more tension on the thread. If you bend it too much the tension will be really tight on the holes furthest away from the mounting screw and no tension at all on the opposite set. I hope this helps, thank you for your comment.
Dude I have enjoyed your tutorials. You mite use the pictorial view of the needle and bobbin as they make the transaction of the loop, 0pen cover. With this picture I think everyone will get it the first time. bobbin placement that is.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try to incorporate that in my next sewing videos.
Lyle Kirkwood - My problem with my chinese shoe leather machine is that my needle will not line up with the bobbin hole. Please advise how to adjust this problem.
You will need to loosen the three bolts under the sewing arm to realign the needle to the bobbin hole.
Hi, @ the 12:00 position, my machines gear drive is sticking out about 1 1/4" and in the bobbin well no gears are left, so I can't put the bobbin mechinism. Any place I put it I can"t get a full rotation
You need to loosen up the two bolts on the pitman rod so you can adjust where the gears meet.
Harrison, I’ve done it all and still not picking up bobbin thread. I’m using the needle and thread and I have set th3 timing and it all appears correct. I hav3 5he needle going thru the bottom. The machine is still not picking up the thread. I started with the rod all the way down and raised it a little at a time no success. The top thread is creating a loop but it never catches the bobbin thread
My stitch length is too small and I've tried adjusting it using the bolt but it does not get larger? Only smaller even though I've gone so far the bolt is almost all the way out?
Hey I just bought one of these I’ve gone thru all the steps you have shown on both videos . I have the bobbin and shuttle place at the thee o’clock and handle at 12 .. It still can’t thread the bobin …
I’m using the thin plastic thread that came with the machine. It look like 2-4 pound black fishing line .
I also used the black plastic thread it came with to respool the bobin . Originally came with white fiber thread. ..( could I be the type of thread that’s my problem. )
Every now and then it will thread the Bobin and so I start sewing some leather to find that the top thread gets stuck in the with every stitch in the bobin . ..
(Is this the top thread tension not pulling the thread out of the bobin .??)
Thank you for your time and help .
Could be that the top tension is not strong enough to pull it or the bobbin thread is way too tight.
My needle doesn’t lock the bobine thread and when it does ,after two or three stitches the upper thread break,i’ve follow many of your videos and recommendations but it still doesn’t sew well ,it was sewing well then suddently it started having problems i don’t know why…are all those machines work the same ? When the thread break, the thread is passing under the bobine holder ,the one we put at 3 o’clock. Thanks
I have a question for you. When I try to run that first cycle to pull the bobbin thread out...my needle thread tangles around the bobbin shuttle and knots, so then I have to take it all back apart and cut the knot out and then rethread everything. Why is that happening? An answer to that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
How to do you attach the leading plate? I'm having trouble right away with this machine. Can't find any info how to properly attach the leading plate.
I am not sure what you mean by the leading plate, any way to describe the part in more detail?
i had the same problem, but after a frustrating ehile i figured it out by myself. my issue is, that while i am sewing, not every sitch is made and my top thread breaks if i go too fast. I think it does have something to do with the tesioning thinngies...
More than likely that's a timing issue and not a tension issue. Those tension disk on top would have to be tightened all the way down to snap the upper thread. It could be a needle bar issue as well
Anyway you can do a video using this to sew on a cap patch?
Love you so much!
Awwwww Thank you for commenting
Thanks a lot u are the best 👍
Thanks👍👊
My bobbin well does not have 2 small springs like you recommended they have. My bobbin thread is not picked up by the needle. Thanks
Here is another two videos I did on that topic: czcams.com/video/VagtDdcenwI/video.html
czcams.com/video/YjdcY2ppxxM/video.html
Set up the machine following your modifications video-great info. But even after following this video several times I cannot get the bobbin thread to pick up. Any other ideas? Thanks.
czcams.com/video/YjdcY2ppxxM/video.html&lc=Ugya3DYeo4DDc-AoCKd4AaABAg
My pressure foot does not move the material forward. Can it be fixed?
hello, just got my machine in and I have tried many times with the knob at 12 and the other part at 3 and i am at a loss here. The top still isn't picking up the bottom thread. I have tried the standard thread it came with, as well as using gutterman upholstery thread. I am also using 110x18 needles that it came with. what do i do to get it to pick up the thread?
Have you tried adjusting the needle bar down a bit?
Hi!! First of all Thank you so much for all your videos! They have been really helpful, unfortunately I can’t make the machine to pick up the bottom tread, I’ve already watched all three of your videos about the same issue, I did the 12 and 3 o’clock positions, adjusted the needle bar (up and down), adjusted the bar the moves the bottom mechanism, and make sure that the crank is well installed... I wonder what else might be?? Or if you can help me some other way? Thanks in advance, God bless you.
Never mind, I got that working!!! Now it’s cutting the top tread after a while, I have seen some more comments about it I’m pretty sure it needs some adjusting somewhere else... Thank you very very much my man!! You are awesome!!!
My newest video should save the day: czcams.com/video/XJAhqb9tNpc/video.html
Hi guys, I'm new to these machines and to this site (although I've watched a TON of videos, thank you very much BTW!) But after the first week and only 2 projects in, I lost a bearing.
The linkages that have the tiny bearings on the end which fit in the flywheel/hand crank plate were pretty good & smooth from the start, but the one in the pitman-arm linkage just fell apart today.
I have been looking at every site related to these machines & have yet to find a single mention of them anywhere. Bantam seems to be the go-to place for replacement parts, but I can't find these bearings there either.
I'm more than willing to spend the time to replace just the bearing, and I have access to a press with about any fitting out there, but obviously the adjustable linkage at the end in it's entirety would be simpler. And certainly not very expensive to replace, so either way, I don't care.
Has anyone else had this issue or might know where to find replacements?
I have not had this issue, but I will check with Matt at Bantam to see if he can get these parts
I got a hold of Matt at Bantam and he said he has the part your looking for, but he's going to be out on vacation until the 29th.
@@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks I was able to get in touch with Matt & he got me set up with the part I need. Thanks for your help once again!!
Hello, i would like to get assistance on getting the feed dog to move the leather forward. Right now my needle only goes up and down in the same spot.
The stitch adjustment screw is ether too far in or too far out.
That helped. Thanks
Good deal, thanks for commenting
I just want to thank you for posting because I am a newby in having this machine with out knowing nothing.Do you have a how to put the threat in slow steps so I can start?
czcams.com/video/tWgxzSCZxrQ/video.html
Have you made a video explaining how the thread can be tightened?
Thanks. I’m still struggling. Especially after watching all of these videos. I keep breaking needles and I realize that in some configurations the needles goes fine, but when I rotate the head it stops clearing the hole in the bottom plate. Is my rod warped? Is this common?
Sadly this is a common issue due to the circles at the end of the presser foot and stitch length arms not being true and level. I heat treated mine and banged them true with a hammer, but be careful with the smaller circle on the presser foot arm because it's just brazed together.
i have watched this video and others, and have the alignment just as shown. It still does not pickup the bobbin, instead it draws the thread in and entangles in to the bobbin, Please help
