  • At the time of Umar’s assassination in 644 CE, his empire stretched from Tunisia to parts of Modern-Day Pakistan. The people he ruled were of different ethnicity, languages and religion. The empire needed a strong leader if it was keep them in check.
In this video, I discuss the rule of Uthman, the third Khalifa, and how his rule changed the structure of the empire and the leading Civil War or First Fitna that ensued from Uthman's assassination.
    Additional Facts:
1)The Silk Road was a network of trade routes that were used to trade goods and ideas between Europe and Asia.
    2) Other areas such as Persia and Iraq also revolted but since it was started by Egypt, I only mentioned them.
    3) The rebels from Egypt, Iraq and Persia controlled Madinah, the capital. Hence, they were the kingmakers who elected Ali.
    4) Since Pre-Islamic times, Banu Ummayah and Banu Hashim (Muhammad’s Clan) had been rivals over things like trade.
    5) The dry bed of the Nahrawan Canal near Samarra, photographed by Gertrude Bell in 1909.

And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.” (5:67). He also stated that the term “Wali” means friend 95% of the time when actually according the the Arabic dictionary, it means master/guardian 95% of the time. He also states how the majority of the Muslim ummah reject his wilayah and coincidentally, Allah swt says in over 70 verses about how the majority don’t want the truth, are disbelievers, are un-thankful, are ignorant, don’t listen, etc... InshAllah kheir it is Allah swt that guides not me or you. Regardless, Sunnis and Shias are still brothers and sisters in faith and we must unite

You are one of the first people who discussed a very controversial topic in middle east in a very professional manner. Most scholars are very biased around the topic. • @TheHbk2089
      @TheHbk2089 Před 5 lety +16

i find that highly untrue. you can find many scholars that cover this topic without being biased. and if there are any facts that are a bit iffy, the scholars will mention that it's a bit iffy like the brother that made this video did. I am not saying this video is bad, not at all. just saying you make it seem like he is the only person that is brave enough to cover this topic, when in fact a lot of scholars have . Also the video seems very accurate because he didn't go into much detail at all thus he skipped all the controversial parts. I am still glad he uploaded this video just to get people more into this topic and they can do their own research. I just hope he goes into more detail next time instead of worrying whether he will get hate or not.

I feel we all humans are still pagans ( Aboriginals or Adivasi they were our forefathers and we gave them such a bad name and ridicule them in the name of education and enlightenment ) ... this word is also not clear to me till date. All the son's of God or the messenger as we term are still being born and communicating to the local populations in the present times it's the people who are influenced, what we call cult in modern times.Science and scientists are also biggest messengers of God in present times. When in Bible and Quran when we say that humans are born in God's image, I wonder how many images God have?? Then where is the problem in Hindus worshiping thousands of God's. Actually there should be 1.5 billion Gods too. We are still as humans believe in ruler and subjects.
Just we have to ensure when we cannot create life we cannot take lives away that is the only religion. All the messengers have only said to be united with the close surroundings. Now the problem is everyone trying to define this close surroundings with boundaries and borders.

I don't agree with your statement that Muawiyah was not evil and I refer to the events and deeds after his coronation. He was in no way considered a pious Muslim, he founded a dynasty against the principles of Islam, he broke his agreement with Hassan Ibn Ali that obliged him not to appoint an heir for himself, he set down the tradition of cursing Ali to illegitimize his supporters which continued throughout all Ummayad rule - except during Umar ibn Abdulaziz's reign - over Islamic nation. These are verified deeds of his which are directly against any basis of Islamic constitution without needing to take a side. He's literally the very manifestation of everything that is wrong with Muslim community today. A sharp and competent but corrupted ruler who saw his own and his kinsmen interest prior to Islamic constitutions. His conquests and his reign served his own agenda, not Islam's.
As for your video, I appreciate it very much. Keep up the good work.

@@AlMuqaddimahYT yes. It is indeed interesting. It is such a rare occasion to find a moderate explanation like you did. Because from the islamic side we have a story that more or less sounds "too perfect" because there are rules not to speak bad about the early islamic figures (ehm. I am looking at you Muawiyah and Yazid). And in other side the western scholars tend to focus or describe the islamic history in a negative tones. They weigh more in the bad things and even never touch the brilliancy of prophet Muhammad as a leader. I think even if you do not believe Muhammad as a prophet at least you should give the guy for his brilliant political maneuver and strategy in battle.
Especially for Indonesia, I hope you touch the relationship between the Ottoman caliphate and the local islamic rulers/kings in Indonesia at that time. Because the ottoman caliph was really referred as the leader of all muslims at that time by the local kings in Indonesia. Often if there are dispute between princes about who should take the throne and they can not find a solution, they often ask the Sultan to decide for them. In some islamic kingdoms, the approval letter from sultan was considered a legitimate proof that they have right to be a king and to rule. for example it happened in the Yogyakarta sultanate and Aceh sultanate (both now a special province in Indonesia).
Anyway good luck for the next video. I will be waiting. insha'Allah

I know Sebeos says that he did but in truth I feel that this might be a stretch since Muawiyah had lost considerable numbers of troops after Pheonix. I know he attacked Rhodes and the islands and perhaps he did attack the environs of Constantinople but also did he not have to get back to Syria to deal with a massive Median rebellion in Persia. Its somewhat hyperthetical but i just wondered what you thought about it? Really enjoyed the video by the way.

He did, yes. His son, Yazid was the head of that army and the Byzantines used Greek fire and the siege ended pretty quickly. Fun Fact: One of Muhammad's close friends, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari is buried in Istanbul now, he died during that siege, natural causes, and his last wish was that his remains be taken as far into enemy territory and be buried there so he's buried in Istanbul.

O Allah, love whoever loves him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him". There actually multiple similar hadeeths at various points in the prophet's life including "Ali is from me and I am from Ali", which does kind of imply fighting Ali is wrong since fighting the prophet is wrong. He also said the same about all the members of his family. But back to the original question, how do people follow and emulate a group (sahaba) that fought between themselves? Regardless of whether you think Ali was wrong or Aisha/Muawiya. Its like telling me that there were prophets who fought eachother. If two people are on the straight path there wouldnt be bloodshed between them. Especially not between the sahaba, who I was taught are the most pious generation.

no they hated each other. the whole “muawiya died when ali died” was a myth started by muawiya to make him look good because many of the companions of the prophet hated muawiya for fighting against ali because prophet muhammed appointed ali as his brother in religion, ali was raised by prophet muhammed, ali was the first muslim male, and he was highly respected. so when muawiya found out ppl started hating him for hating ali he completely changed and started saying things like he cried for ali at his death and things like that. if he really loved ali then why would he fight him just so he could be the ruler? If he loved ali then why would he spread lies amongst his soldiers so that they could hate ali? If he loved ali then why would he sign a treaty with alis son, hassan saying after his death Alis other son, Hussain would become the caliph, but then break the treaty and appoint his own son, yazid as the caliph. Yazid, the son of muawiya went on to murder the sons and daughters of ali. He killed hussain, who was the son of Ali and the grandson of prophet muhammed. it’s obvious the whole he cried for ali thing is propaganda, and you are falling for it.

This is a well known fact. Imam Ali(as) was more wise than Uthman and superior in every single way as a ruler, it made sense for him to be the Caliph after Umar. But the Shura asked Imam Ali(as) if he would rule like the Caliphs before him and Imam Ali(as) said that he is his own man, he will only follow the way of the Prophet(SAW) and will not grant special benefits to companions. He said that everyone will be equal and he will get rid of corruption and saw Abu Bakr and Umar’s way of rule as unjust and created hate amongst people (this actually led to Umar’s assassination). Obviously this wouldn’t have benefited the people in the Shura council and so they chose Uthman who said he will follow Abu Bakr and Umar’s ways.

After Aisha turned on Uthman for him not giving her heaps of money, Uthman was eventually killed by the Muslims as people kill their tyrants. Aisha then waged a war against Imam Ali peace be upon him after she had heard that the Muslims pledged alliegence to Imam Ali, this first "civil war" gave Muawiya the green light to wage more "civil wars" after Imam Ali refused to allow him to remain governor of Shaam. The Muslims betrayed Imam Ali after he had led them to victory against Muawiya as they grew tired of war and eventually Imam Ali was assassinated by the Khawarij who failed to assassinate Muawiya. Imam Hassan peace be upon him overpowered by the rule of Muawiya then made a treaty with Muawiya where he stepped down from power and remained the Caliph of God with no power. Muawiya eventually assassinated him to cement his power.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 438
Narrated Aisha: That Allah's Apostle said to her, "I know when you are pleased with me or angry with me." I said, "Whence do you know that?" He said, "When you are pleased with me, you say, 'No, by the Lord of Muhammad,' but when you are angry with me, then you say, 'No, by the Lord of Abraham.' “Thereupon I said, "Yes (you are right), but by Allah, O Allah's Apostle, I leave nothing but your name."

Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Number 6938-6943
Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet stood up and delivered a sermon, and pointing to 'Aisha's house, he said thrice, "Affliction (will appear from) here," and, "from where the side of the Satan's head comes out."
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 53, Number 336

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 63, Number 217
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 88, Number 212-213
Narrated By Ibn 'Abbas: When Allah's Apostle was on his death-bed and in the house there were some people among whom was 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, the Prophet said, "Come, let me write for you a statement after which you will not go astray." 'Umar said, "The Prophet is seriously ill and you have the Qur'an; so the Book of Allah is enough for us." The people present in the house differed and quarrelled. Some said "Go near so that the Prophet may write for you a statement after which you will not go astray," while the others said as Umar said. When they caused a hue and cry before the Prophet, Allah's Apostle said, "Go away!" Narrated 'Ubaidullah: Ibn 'Abbas used to say, "It was very unfortunate that Allah's Apostle was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise."

He (the Holy Prophet) came and he patted upon my shoulders and said: Go and call Mu'awiya. I returned and said: He is busy in taking food. He again asked me to go and call Mu'awiya to him.
