Salam and welcome to Al Muqaddimah!
My name is Syawish and I'm the one-man team that runs Al Muqaddimah. History has always appealed to me more than most things and with time, I came to realize that a certain part, the real, detailed part, about people that called themselves Muslims, was barely available on youtube. It didn't take a lot of research to realize that even Muslims did not seem to know much of their history like how Islam reached the world, what happened to al-Andalus etc. Wanting to answer some of those questions, I decided to fill in the gaps with Al Muqaddimah.
Question by question, answer by answer, this caravan of history aficionados has grown into what it is today. From the very beginning, this channel has been about history and history only. All of my videos have been and will continue to be from a liberal and secular point of view. If you are looking for a religious take on Islamic history then Al Muqaddimah is not the channel for you.
Tuhada,
Syawish.

For the Islamic world (at least the public), there is nothing but the utmost support for the Palestinians. It is one of the very few things that most Muslims support so passionately. Why is that? What is Islam? A Religion? A Culture? A Civilization? Well, it's all of those. The cult of the book, that is Islam, serves as a connection between the people who pray to the same Qibla, who otherwise have nothing in common. Very important topic to talk about, yeah let's leave the scientific advancements and high quality of human life in the islamic middle ages and focus on something not necessary not allowed in the religion and make it seem as it was ok back then, unsubscribe to this shit
Another thing that isn't mentioned in this video but I don't know if it would have applied to the subject in the title. We don't really have any sort of archaeological evidence to show that people at large living in the hejaz region was literate let alone had the ability to make parchment and put together books. The physical archeology coming out of this region are inscriptions in Arabic on stones and rocks. The stones and rocks are mostly found south in today Yemen and Northern Syria and just east of that location as well. According to shoemaker in his book creating the Quran what they are saying is theres an extreme lack of literary arts or literary anything coming out of the hijaj region during 500 AD, 600 AD, and 700 AD that appears on parchment. Which is something you would need to put together a holy book such as the Quran. It also wouldn't be impossible to Doctor historical documents but the scale of such an operation would be massive and hard to escape record of that event as well.
This and the time after Babur started ruling the India was the golden age for Turks. Almost 4 big empires were founded and ruled by Turks
I'm religio-phobic... The notion of Islam being a tolerant religion is nonsense! It is not in Indonesia, and it certainly isn't in the entire Middle East! It's not even tolerant of itself... Sunnis have no problem killing Shias! Imagine Protestants going after Catholics in today's world! Islam is only tolerant in India because it is a minority! If it weren't, you better believe they would persecute the shit out of Hindus (who have their own internal issues)!
How I miss that time when we Arabs were great 😢
i love your videos however your use of words were not wise or true. Many historians says that Helen who found the cross about 700 years before the crusaders. thats a big difference
Dan Gibson's thoughts are not based on proper knowledge of islam and rationality
The religion of the false prophet
discriminatory policies?? lol
Evan Hazrat Umar ibn al Khatab prevent the plagues places
They're religious edicts that lead to this. It's also the beliefs that they had at these times. This is a demonstration of how backwards they were, 'political' or not.
Imagine not allowing your best general to recover a city but then sending another of your son, who's fucked up every other chance.
The Jihad stopped! that was the problem for our decline then and now.
Stop doing this kind of videos. When are you going to start a new series like the Mughals? Do a new series on Iranian dynasties like the safavid, qajar. You can do a series on Maratha empire and the Sikh empire history.
yeah videos becoming boring month by month
The disunity among Arabs, Berbers, and Muwalladuns was the main reason for downfall of Muslim Al Andalus.
Ibn al-Khafib was not a scholar or scientist, he was Du Vaziratayn of Granada (like Prime Minister in UK) most of his life. Although he wrote Lambada song (Lamma bada yatathanna), and some thoughts on plague (while he never was a doctor): 1) very doubtful that accusasion in Zandaqa was because of his plague views 2) judges did not decide if he was guilty, and he was not executed as zindiq anyway; he was strunggled in prison not by a verdict. And he was in jail not after he wrote or said something, but after a coup and lose of political power. And noone was executed for such vulgar view on plague, 90% of common uneducated people thougt plague to be contagious, it is basic feeling of any human or animal on any manifestation of any illness
Or according to orthodox, a Byzantine empress found it...
As an arab id didnt hear any of this info before, so cool
Thank you so much for separating the subjects of pedophilia and homosexuality!! Pedophilia is in no way a sexual orientation.
There are no historical evidence of mecca and Mohammad
some of these comments just read as the criticism we have for christians colonialism in brazil. They raped, enslaved, stole, destroyed and yada yada yada, and they're still doing that to this day. In Brazil miscigenation was a major eugenistic policy to white wash the population, by doing that they incentivized interracial marriage and interracial intercourse in order to obtain legal advantages. THese policies were implemented right after slavery was officially abolished in brazil, leaving millions of slaves free with no money or possessions, no place to live, forced into serfdom, under work condition not much different from slaves, but now they had to earn money to buy stuff, while working full time for no salary, just for the right to inhabit the same piece of land they were already tied to. To introduce a policy that rewarded interracial sex in this context was diabolic to say the least. That lead to a rape and pedophile culture where the lords, now called "senhores", the land owners, to perpetuate the rape of young women, while colored parents would willingly give or trade their young daughters, sisters and even wives for some favors with their land lords.
Im pretty sure this is just a coincidence made by Rowling but i still loved the video. Keep it up, Syawish
1:17 ''Countries that were colonized support Palestine while theo nes that colonized them support Israel'' True. In Ireland the Catholics mainly support Palestine and (Ulster) Protestants support Israel. Ironically Spain supports Palestine statehood now too.
nice work
General backwardness bruh if muslims at that time were backward and then the rest of the world were pretty much worse than cavemen 🙄
Not really sure if that story is correct or that's its all details but surly that sounds like much power for religious figures that intercepted a trial which also started cuz of religious figures who got enough power to trail him for such a silly reason
Sultan Abdulhamid didn't kill his brothers.
This is what we are saying: if this thing existed in the past, it doesn't mean that it is right. Yes, these types of flaws were present in the past, in the Quran, Allah also mentions that there were people who committed such crimes. But what happened to them? Their homes were destroyed, and their existence vanished. Indeed, homosexuality is a true crime. May Allah protect the upcoming generation from this. Ameen.
His death was due to a Grenadian influance on the new sultan as he wasn't declared a hertic but was assassinated any way but the issue wasn't his opinion on the plague also one of his main persecutors was his student Ibn Zamrak
Give me some resources about Umayad making none Arabs Muslim paying jiziah This is just a lie
Glad you switched your channel logo to the original.
There are 30 different versions of the Qur’an with 93,263 different words used between them. Which one is eternal?
Come on Dan Gibson. Mecca is not a lost city. The city and the people are still there. Go there and just ask them and move on to something more useful.
Fuck the prophet! Use your common sense and SAVE LIVES!
Imagine a medical discussion that involves rival citations of hadith.
It's called "Ijtihad"
" Politics, not backwardness" is a silly cope my friend. It wouldn't have worked had the "ulemas" not have undue and undeserved influence over politics which by todays standards is indeed backwards. Although I understand the Anglo sphere is mostly westerners and they sometimes go full Hitler when they find something they can use against muslims. The civilisations in question were indeed far less backwards than the European ones of the time.
Hadith fundementalism and literalism is a plague on this ummah... but hes right this wasgenerally not the norm in Al-Andalusia at the time, this was largely political. Gotta love all these historians in the comments...
We are Muslims who follows the companions of the prophet on how they understood the religion. We are not liberals
Are you even a Muslim, to be claiming such thing as fundamentalism exists. And that if it did it’s a problem. Rather the problem are those who don’t take the Hadith of the prophet ﷺ.
You do know that even during the Prophet's time, the sahabah still debated about things like this
Where are the sources so we can go back to them?
Ulema need to fall back sometimes
Ah yes, murderous corruption is not backwardness.
it still happens today tf are u talking 😂😂
You didn't need to show the world that you're a bigoted POS
Every country today is corrupted, the US itself is far more corrupted than what this story said tf you talking about?
In that case, every country that has ever existed including today is backward
The decline of Islam started around the 1200s . You've never came out of that mentality
how did they think that the hadith about visiting the sick which is not mandatory but meant to be for extra rewards, supersedes the hadith which commands us not to go to or leave an infected area with plague. probably because the moroccan leaders at the time like today were sufis instead of Salafi Muslims.
The stupidity in this comment is so strong i dont even know where to start...
lmao this is hilariously out of touch. Salafis irl are have the most retarded and insane medical takes on the face of the islamic world. My salafi friend started a beef with our islamic education teacher for insisting blood transfusions were absolutely haram. Let's not even touch on organ transplants.
Backwardness
@@AbdullahMikalRodriguez It's a hilarious comment. IRL Salafis have the most insane medical takes, like blood transfusion being haram.
Never knew that this thing is actually real. I tought its just an old joke
May God rewards our scholars like Sh Muhammad bin Abdulwahab for his contributions and fight against this complete and utter sway from the truth and the values.
If it's not general backwardness, what was the masses' idea of his theory? Or at least, fellows who were also in the health sciences? Did those in power eventually lose their positions and the ones who succeeded them followed Ibn-al Khatib's recommendations?
That's why we got defeated and all our knowledge stolen or destroyed. Freaking homosexual leaders thinking only with their w......the predecessors paved the way, died, conquered, built...to them all throw it away!!! Im not surprised with the Sufism and their preference for everything that's not allowed. Anyway thx man i didn't know that.
Politics, not backwardness. Nice save.
What save. This is history Tf you want him to say?
Why are you crying and screaming "I'm an Islamophobe" The world doesn't need your bigotry
So politics do not bring backwardness ? Didn't post 9/11 politics brought patriotic act which gave US government to surveillance everyone in they country, isn't this against the principle of liberalism and resticted freedom of US citizens. Or how about Brexit politics that destroyed Britain's economy and created a socio-economic crisis.
@@mohammedkhattab4586 why cover up the backwardness of the time and the place by claiming it was politics? It's still backwardness.
From 13 mins was the most interesting/informative to non Muslims and non Arabs imo
You should cover iran more
Imagine the difference it would make if Jordan were able to keep all of Palestine (and modern day Israel) under their rule
