    I'd use the lights to signify who's turn it is in a game, especially if you have to stop for a while. Also, perhaps to show who is being attacked in Cosmic Encounter. Many cool uses for the colored lighting.

      @Rathskellers Před 8 lety +4

      We are prototyping an app that will allow players to control the lights. You will be able to define time / player count and it will light them up for you :).

    I have not been impressed with previous tables, this one is awesome. If I ever bought a table it would be like this, however, that will never happen, too expensive for me. But the best table I have ever seen, and the only one I have been impressed with.

    To add a little bit to this as well, it looks like this company uses Simonis cloth/felt for their tables. Those who are into billiards/pool may know that name, for everyone else, Simonis makes some of the best material to play pool on. They're used by professionals everywhere in that world.

    They gave you a fully decked out table. I went to their site, and couldn't find the dimensions of your table in their pricing guide, which was weird. The dimensions may be wrong.
    Fully decked out, this particular table will run you north of $5,000, with base prices around $2,000...not too bad actually.

    I love Tom and his reviews and this one was no exception. But it's little bit funny how he matched his 8.000-10.000 $ table with his 200-300 $ black bookshelf's from Ikea. I would go for the most beautiful rich wood-stain and matched the entire room to fit the table color, hell the entire house if I had to. And no, black would not be it.

    Beautiful table for sure and I love the thick legs. Too bad I don't have 2000 euros to spend on an item like this. This is something that is an heirloom and should be passed down to the next generation and beyond. Though I wouldn't get any electronics for it, except the led lights. One day maybe in the next 10 years I could afford it.

    I wonder if Jason now regrets his geek chic. I also wonder if he'll replace it with this.

    • @mattdecamp
      @mattdecamp Před 8 lety +1

      Why? This looks like a good table, but I don't think it's a clear winner over a geek chic. The main thing you get with this is the speakers and LEDs. If you like that, go for it. If you're like me and you're worried that any built in tech will be obsolete or possibly breaking in 10 years, it won't be nearly as appealing. You can always just get sound and lighting separately, after all.

    • @Trevin_Taylor
      @Trevin_Taylor Před 8 lety

      Matt Decamp oh, I agree. Tech in a table is dangerous. Who still uses their built in tape deck or 8 track player? But I was specifically asking about jason. Tom was impressed enough to replace his table, but he can write it off as a business expense so it's less of a deal.

    • @Rathskellers
      @Rathskellers Před 8 lety +5

      Your concerns are justified i agree, that is why we've chosen to go with the most popular implementations out there - Bluetooth and Lighting. Bluetooth isn't going away any time soon. In fact the recent update to version 4.1 has prepared it for a whole new generation of smart devices and could lead to it becoming a vital piece for the Internet of Things. Same for the Usb Connections and Lighting (you could have better LED lights in the future but they will still power up and light your table). We haven't included any obsolete technology in our tables.
      For example on our Bluetooth sound system if ever bluetooth becomes obsolete you can play your favorite tracks by plugging in your phone via a usb cable (which is the most future proof you can get).
      And even if all the above fail, it is so easy to replace them all with new technologies. There is a smart Drawer on the bottom of the table that has access to all electronics, so you just unplug and install new ones :)

    • @mattdecamp
      @mattdecamp Před 8 lety +1

      Yeah, I don't think bluetooth and USB are going anywhere for a while, and converters and adapters are likely to exist for a long time even after we begin transitioning to whatever technology replaces them. But I also think that keeping up to date with external sound and lighting systems is an easier and more futureproof strategy, so I'll always personally prefer it. So if the integrated tech was a gimmick, that would turn me away from the table... but it appears that you also just make really well built, functional tables, and the tech is just icing for people who want it.

    • @Rathskellers
      @Rathskellers Před 8 lety +1

      Yes, you can still go complete traditional without any icing :) Seriously though replacing the electronic parts is really easy and everyone can do it. For example our main concern with LED system was that as with all light systems, in the future a small led bulb could go wrong and it will destroy the good looks and awake Yog-Sothoth, so we introduced a small hole in the outter middle of the LED stripes that you can poke out and replace the whole LED stripe. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback, it helps us get better !
