I have one of these and can only endorse everything Richard says here: it's an amazing piece of furniture, very high quality and perfect for all sorts of gaming. Mine also has a second felt board (actually in two parts) which sits over the top of the vault in place of the wooden leaves, so you can leave one game down in the vault and have something else going on the upper surface. Or have half the upper surface in wood and half with felt, for a smaller game. I don't have the lights so I can't comment on those, but generally I cannot recommend these tables highly enough based on mine. Marcin and Geeknson deserve to have massive success with them and I'm sure they will.
This is just absolute brilliance!
I never knew something like this existed.
Oh!! When you slid the games from the felt, my OCD may have had a slight melt down. The table looks AMAZING. If I can just stop buying games, I could save up for one :P
Those Geeks are better designers than me. I made a game / dinner table but my solution for drink spillage is to spread a custom cut drop cloth over the game surface before putting the table leaves on top. I must add drip rails to the leaves because I often forget to install the drop cloth.
Great detailed review. Thank you.
I definitely want one of those. Just amazing haha
I like how you subtly snuck the Castles expansion in there :)
2 questions from me: 1. where do you put your decks of cards that you might not want others to see? Sometimes you have way more stuff to hide or put down than that little side strip will allow. 2. Does the little wooden strip edge hurt your arms and elbows? A flatter table seems to be more comfortable in the long run?
i guess you'd hide it the same way you always do on a regular table? did not have a problem with the arm rest grating on our arms. only issue we had was shoulder fatigue because the table is taller than a normal one
My god. That's a beautiful table.
That is _really_ cool!
So Beautiful!
oh and that poor dead hamster. =(
+ToThePointGames lol, to keep the beagles from chewing stuff they're not supposed to, jen gives them stuffed animals she buys cheap at dime stores. that hamster has survived a lot longer than most...
This looks awesome! That strobe effect could be cool if you're having a party and you're not even using the table to play, but it's open and you just want it for cool lighting. Not that I ever have parties that are remotely that cool.
To remove the loud clanky sounds of rolling on a glass table, me and my fiance have found that simply getting a dice tray really helps with that. (Though I'm planning on replacing my wooden rectangular table at some point with a geeknson, once we finish decorating. The LEDs helped sell them to him...)
+Gizensha Fox you mean, like this? czcams.com/video/e1W3uZG3Vk0/video.html :)
Yes, like that. Though ours is an octagonal wooden dice tray from... Wherever the heck my fiance picked up a d24, which he got at the same time...
Very cool.
I couldn't afford the table, but I still wonder how much just the shipping would be to get one of these over to the USA... it must be crazy!
23:00 - table height - would your legs fit comfortably underneath the table if it was 3/4" shorter? The table top is much deeper than a normal table so you can put stuff in it.
25:30 - cleaning felt - have you tried a lint roller?
+Luke Boland yes, it could drop by at least an inch, maybe 3, and still have plenty of leg room I think :)
i'm sure a lint roller would have worked, but we dind' thave one :)
Wow, that is awesome. Makes me wish this was available in the states (kind of the reverse problem they were trying to solve :). I have looked at game tables that are available in the US, but none have all the nice features and touches they put into this. Thanks for giving us a tour.
+Darren Austin Hi Darren. WE SHIP TO THE U.S. NOW !!! Drop us an email at info@geeknson.com for more details.
+Darren Austin There are like 3 custom game table builders in the US. Geek Chic is the most popular. Then there's BoardGameTables.com and GameOnTables.com. So, plenty of choices in the IS.
I assume the center of the leaves are pretty sturdy right? I mean, if something heavy is placed in the center it won't bend or stress or anything?
+wdpjqw correct... i've never stood on them to see how much weight they can bear, but standard stuff is fine... i wouldn't worry about putting a bowling ball on them, for instance.
if you get them to run the length of the table instead of the width though, the provide a center brace
What happens if you spill som liquid on the table, will it keep it from finding it's way down or might it sip trough?
+haxpet Well you answerd the question in the video, I just jumped the gun,
Great video, I have always wondered about spilling on a gaming table. You have made me want one, now my envy level is over 9000.
Wow, your chairs are so well behaved. I wish mine were but they never listen to me. : (
Hi Rahdo, I'm very interessed in Geeknson Tables, can you tell me if it's possible to play Big Big Games comfortably (like Twilight imperium for exemple)?
Thanks for all your videos! ^^
Fred from France
+Frederic Juste check out the video... i demonstrated a pretty big footprint board at some point in the first 10 minutes :)
+rahdo just checked, it's at 5:29 :)
+rahdo Thanks!
Sorry I just send this message too quickly after only 3 minutes of your video :)
solution to fur, actually a squeegee. The rubber on the squeegee will pull the fur into a pile, making it easier to pick up.
They should make a hexagon table. That would be soo nice.
Consider doing a Rahdo Runs Thru Malta. I for one would like some inside info about Malta / Godo.
+Big Fat Tony's that's would be a major undertaking!
+rahdo Ah, come on, you've been living there for 3+ years. Just strap on the GoPro and go for a walk to places that you like and talk about what you know about the places.
@4:40 Not everything in the world is two sided, actually; check out a klein bottle sometime!
Nice concept but I feel like there's little room in front of each player for a player mat, hand, etc. That nice large 3" bevel looks too small to be useful and thus you lose that space.
Richard, you could try BASTIS sticky rolls from IKEA for fur removal. It works really good with my couch and cat:) Very cool "final thoughts".BTW: I saw your ambassador card for Among the Stars. Good stuff, but soo serious:)
+TheFlymar no ikea's in malta :)
+rahdo So maybe "remove fur from clothes no name sticky roll" ?:)
how many does it seat?
6 comfortably, 8 at a stretch, 10 cramped
9:30 nooooooooo
What are the dimensions of this particular table?
+Silver Fang i don't remember exactly, but it was the largest standard size they listed in their catalog :)
+rahdo Their current website lists it at 130 x 180 cm (51 x 71 in). Thanks!
How high is your table Rahdo?
i don't have it anymore (see faq.rahdo.com) but IIRC it was roughly 2 inches or so higher than a "normal" table
What size did you get?
+haxpet the largest one in their catalog
+rahdo Nice, is it possible to sit 3 people on each side having dinner without it getting crowded?
Need to convince wife that this table is practical even when it's not a gaming table. :-)
+haxpet hmm, yes if someone is prepared to straddle a table leg, or if you've got slimmer than average chairs.
+rahdo but normal tables that have place for three on each side are usaly 180 cm long.
So sadly you parted with the table, no goodbye video for it ;-) ?
+Marlon Kruis oh that would have been a great idea! i didn't even think of it...
+rahdo All that remains is the memories ;-) Any specific reason why you had to return it? You would say it made a good bit of exposure for them?
+Marlon Kruis it was always a loaner, never mine. it was bought by a wargamer here in malta. we loved it, but the problem is we're renting and we don't own any of the furniture in our apartment, so having a gigantic table would be a problem for us when we eventually move out of Malta (especially if we move back to england where our house has no rooms big enough for that table) :)
+rahdo ok thanks for your answers Richard! It will be missed ;-) Have a good time in the States.
to bad they are in the UK after shipping and duty I might as well get a Geekchic table
+Josh Gilbank Talk to me. We sell in the US now.
+Rokkrr That's awesome but sadly I am in the great white north of Canada
+Josh Gilbank We ship to Canada as well.
Awesome!!
For the fur of the dog try to use these sticky rolls they sell to pick up fur from clothes and so on, they are really useful and I have used it for the cat's fur in my poker table. It is like 20 seconds and it is gone. Similar to these
www.ebay.ca/itm/Practical-Lint-Roller-Fluff-Pet-Hair-Dust-Fur-Remover-Brush-Roll-60-Sticky-Sheet-/191385783935
why would you need to go back to old table?
+Jason Wayne Speicher this table is a loaner :) it's already got a new home lined up in the new year (still close by though, on malta)
+rahdo you should use kickstarter in 2016 to fund a new table.
+rahdo Oof. That is going to be rough.
+rahdo Can we ask why? To expensive? I have to say that I am extremely surprised to read that. Geeknson was saying on their webpage that it is "The DENIS table for Richard Ham"
+michalmargiel yup, i'm retired, can't afford the luxury of buying a new table when i've already got one that works :)
Ever heard of a thing called a "saw" ? You can make it shorter any time you want.
+Big Fat Tony's only if were my table, instead of a loaner!
+rahdo If the video series produces sales they may send you a saw, ruler and a pencil.
