    When I got my Geeknson table in 2017 it came destroyed. My guess it was because Canada customs opened the crate to inspect it, however did not put it back the way they found it. The shipping company then treated it poorly on the way from customs to my house. Geeknson however was GREAT with my issue. They replaced my table at no charge and even told me to keep all the pieces that weren’t damaged (extra/backup accessories). I would buy from them again for sure. I just hope they were able to get an insurance claim on my damaged one.

    If ANYONE in this industry gets a pass and doesn’t need to tell us they got something from a manufacturer and/or are/aren’t being paid, it’s you, Rodney. You’re nothing but professional on this channel and I don’t think anyone would suspect you of having biases in your videos. Plus, you’re Canadian!!!
    That said, really appreciate the transparency you have, especially in light of the Table Talk and Table Talk Back episodes from a year or two ago where this topic was discussed. Top notch as always.
    That said, this table looks fantastic. I’m waiting for my Wyrmwood Modular Gaming table and see some things with this one that I wish they’d included in their design. Still, very excited for that delivery next May!

    I got my 'Megan' table last year and I am really happy with it. It is the least customizable of the GeekNSon gaming tables but it just fits my needs and my taste (and also my purse).
    I live in Germany and a GeekNSon team came from a facility in Poland to deliver and set up the table in my apartment. Their next stop was then in Belgium :-O
    With everything you mentioned about the noise and leg-space issues of the hydraulic system it really didn't feel like a biased review.

    • @wollewotz
      @wollewotz Před 3 lety +3

      @@wingmansion The table height is 77 cm (approx. 30.3 in), the leg space from the floor is 63 cm (approx. 24.8 in).
      My body height is 1.90 m (6' 2.8") and with an ordinary chair there is more than enough leg space for me. No chicken wing posture and no chicken wings while playing, please ;)

      @jonsky Před 3 lety +2

      It is an option you can specify as well. You can have the remote control lights that Rodney preferred or choose the Hue if that works best for you. I have a whole hue set up at home so went with the Hue and it works great. The hub should stay plugged in a bit like a router.

    Thank you, Rodney, for a thorough and frank review of the table. I originally wanted a fancy table, bit after seeing the prices, and learning some of the things you mention in this video (shipping costs, items from another country, likely no fancy delivery service where I live, and weight) I decided that building my own is likely my better option. Some aspects of these tables is very nice, but some are just too superfluous for my tastes.

    Thanks for the video, I was skeptical at first but I really enjoyed it.
    I'm in the same opinion as yourself, I prefer the higher platform and as I'm almost as tall as you leg room is important.
    I have 2 kids and I could never get a proper table, so I have to use a mat with a think curtain on top which makes for an excellent gaming surface.
    I like the lighting and the speaker functions but this is not something I would really need as I have spot lights on the ceiling above the table.
    The speaker function is pretty nice but I just use a sound bar which is just as effective.
    If money was no object I would still probably not invest on one of these, I think I prefer the streamlinedness of the Megan or your original table.
    Also it's nice to know you had issues with importing, I live in Sweden and ordering anything from overseas, especially America comes with added fees and charges.

    The lights are Philips hue smart lights and the white Box is the Bridge. I use them anyway for all the lights in my Apartment, so for me it’s a big plus that the table comes with hue lights but I think that if you‘re Not already into the hue system it’s overkill and I agree with you about the simple version. By the way, in the app you can change the setting for the lights how they should behave in case of a power outage. Just set them to stay Off : )
    I don’t like having Electronics in my table, they are going to be obsolete a lot sooner than the table will be. And that hydraulics are just Overkill, not my Cup of tea.

    Omg, I wanted to back their latest project on Kickstarter. I honestly do not have the money for this kind of thing, though. 😅 But it's really interesting to see this "in action". The Henry would have been my table of choice.
    I agree that needing a bridge for lights and stuff isn't as comfortable (to me) as a remote control. But then, so many devices are created to connect with bridges only these days. 😕 It would have been interesting to know if you can connect the table to a bridge that you already have. A follow-up question would then be if the table will react to voice commands. But I guess they would have mentioned that. Well, it's possible that they're developing their app and software to upgrade to this later.

    • @rjpdx
      @rjpdx Před 3 lety +2

    Easy fix for the hydraulic table riser…
    Upholster additional felt on the underside of the removable top boards. All you have to do is flip them. Yes there will be seems in the felt between the boards, but I’d rather that than the leg room and noise issues that Rod points out in the video.
    And if you want a “half way” option, groove out an additional ledge half way down the side.

    When playing with the 'half a table' example you showed around the 3 minute mark, how easily do the remaining leaves slide around? With that open space is it possible, using your example, for someone eating on the hard wood to accidentally slide them apart and lose a drink in the new opening over the felt below?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Před 3 lety +1

      Because of the weight of the leaves, it wouldn't be easy for them to slide around, unless someone was eating like a viking, maybe?

    You mentioned in the review of the "Denis" table that the vault is about 3 inches deep? How deep is the vault on this one? If it is about 4 inches or greater I think the "Henry" is more meant for RPG gamers. The built-in GM area, the more sophisticated lights, the hydraulics, and the phone charging all make this ideal for RPGs.
