    The breathy voice IS my instrument & I'm not a singer. Simply talking at length exhausts me physically more than anything else no matter how strenuous the activity. Every syllable I utter rides an involuntary cushion of air, so basically I leak all the freaking time!

      Try engaging your epiglottal sphincter, haha! It's easy, it happens when you hum. Start with the mouth closed and then just keep that with the mouth open, so you can hum with the lips together and then keep the hum when the lips come apart. That'll seal it up so not as much air comes out. We don't need as much air coming through the vocal folds when we speak or sing as we think so feel a little compression build up at the front end of the air going through the vocal Folds and then see how quite powerful sounds can be made without a lot of air coming through.

      Billie a Eilish is amazing love her sound! The concern is that this tone may not be sustainable long term, especially when she is touring. After hearing a couple of recent performances (of ocean eyes and of when the party’s over), in these particular performances she struggles to hit both super low and high notes, I wonder if it is healthy long term to sing so breathily. She sounds as though she needs to rest her voice for a wile, touring seems to have taken its toll on her.

    How do I sing quietly with a clean tone? I have good breath support (I stand with a straight, balanced posture) and can get a clean tone when I belt or even just sing but to have a quiet kind of acoustic voice, my voice is too breathy. How do I fix that?

    • @jeanniegagne9182
      @jeanniegagne9182 Před 4 lety +4

      Air support, letting your vocal folds come together efficiently -- you can practice by making very small cat sounds, puppy sounds, even a whine will show you :)

    • @Alpha-Andromeda
      @Alpha-Andromeda Před 4 lety +1

      Jeannie Gagne this is why you come across as clowns. What kind of response is that? You don’t even prescribe for how long to do the sounds, if pitch should be changed and most importantly WHY cat whines or puppy whines would make a difference for an acoustic breathy voice. So you’re just a clown. And that’s a waste of time for us. And bad sales for your Berklee Online program. Which is extremely expensive. Expensive clowns.

      Involuntary airy voice is one of the result of loose vocal cord, there are pre exercises singers do to help that to tighten their vocal cord and make fuller sound and one of the most effect exercise is doing bubbly do re mi with a closed mouth and pitching it up and down

      @@Alpha-Andromeda i think that Jeannie might have a point because when i go to my singing lessons my teacher always tells me to make animal sounds before I sing because animal’s sounds come in naturally and we should sing naturally! i hope this helped ik that i’m not a professional singer or anything lol. well stay safe and happy thanksgiving!! 🍁🧸🤎

    • @huss2600
      @huss2600 Před rokem

      Sing a bratty nay like a kid going NAH NAH NAH, make sure its whiny. This compresses the voice in a healthy way where not much air comes out.
      If that doesn't work its probably your breathing, you might be not managing your air efficiently for example allowing your ribs to collapse into body or taking a expansive breath from the bottom of your belly.
      Hope this helps.

      U can start watching classical music performances. The greatest technique my instructor told me is imagining like ur having a typical conversation w someone. So, when u sing, u make it as if u r talking to a person but with rhythm. Also, u can relax ur throat/larynx by not overusing it and switching to chest tone or perhaps ur diaphragm voice.
