I'd spend hours rewatching Shadowleggy in like 2008-2010. I was probably one of the few people in middle school that thoroughly enjoyed Resident Evil. Funny how now a lot of people who I hear play Resident evil have only really touched the remakes along with 7 and 8. This unearthed some ancient memories, thanks for the nostalgia!
same with ppl in my country, the resident evil stuff they only know are the remakes, 7, and 8
I miss gaming in the late 90s, early 2000s, when gamers were just happy to meet fellow gamers and didn't screech at each other over trivial nonsense

Resi fan from Africa here. I played the shit out of resi on PS1 n PS2 in 90s w my big bro. 80s, 90s games irreplaceable like many 80s,90s stuff.
Games nowadays basically rely on graphics Soo crazy u cant tell it's a game. Back in days games relied on creativity n using really simple graphics to capture ur mind, wildest imaginations n fantasies. Big difference

Yup, I feel you 100%. Made a Resident Evil Outbreak fanfiction for a middle school assignment, just a bunch of original characters during the J's Bar incident. Resident Evil was such a big part of my childhood.

I love Shadowleggy too and I miss her videos. She also had some gags that somehow made it to the main series. Like when Billy restored Rebecca's hand..then years later Ethan Winters hand gets reattached twice. Or that airport girl from degeneration who has the same clothes as shadowleggy

Wow this really takes me back! I used to spend hours and hours going through all the different fan sites, forums, and DeviantArt trying to find all the Resident Evil content I could. It's sad that so many of them are dead and long gone now. I loved looking at all the different fan art and fanfiction. There were also some great parody videos on early CZcams and Newgrounds (including Leggy as you pointed out), some of which are now also long gone and lost to time. Those were definitely different times. I kind of miss that experience. I don't get to spend as much time in the fandom as I once did but new social media just isn't the same.
You're also right about feeling alone as a fan back then. I never once met another Resident Evil fan in school that I could talk to. It's amazing how much has changed...and now I feel old! This was a nice trip down memory lane. It makes me want to dig up my own old fan art. :)

I kinda miss having to go to different sites for fandom stuff. I remember spending saturdays mornings surfing on web searching for resident evil stuff on the family computer. It really felt like "surfing the web"

Ahhh the Shadowleggy musicals!! My whole childhood
I remembered watching Shadowleggy so much when I was in middle school through high school from 2006-2012. Not a lot of people talked about Resident Evil back then and I didn't know a whole lot of people that are fans of the franchise. Other people would look at me weird when I was in middle school and high school not knowing what Resident Evil was so I was thankful that there was fan made content back then.
Thanks for this stroll down memory lane even though it is missing my first foray into Resident Evil fandom: fanfiction! I spent so much time in those early days searching and reading cheesy fanfiction and still remember a couple of stories.

Shadowleggy was one of those people I used to love but I kinda forgot about them over time, it's nice being reminded about them again! I remember one of the first resident evil vids I came across was a caramelldansen compilation back when that was popular, there's something weirdly nice going back to see it again after so long
This made me so very happy, I spent days at school trawling all of these and weekends in an internet cafe watching shadowleggy and josephblanchette. Also that Claire scaring Steve caption sent me into hysterics 😂

As for my favorite videos, Yeti's and Leggy's videos were the best for me back then; apart from them, I remember the Jill Sandwich song/ytp (the one where Scatman John appears and a scene of Goku getting CBT at the end), and I also remember that one video with static images with RE1 dialogs being distorted and repeated over and over in a funny way (the one where there's a clip of Richard's "ouch" slowed down with a photo of a soccer player).
All of this was when I was still in Elementary! And, as a native Spanish speaker, I'm so proud to say that the RE fandom made me better at English at a young age!

I love the RE: Numa Numa videos so much, I've talked with with its creator ShadowLeggy (or DoubleLeggy as she's called on deviant art) a lot and even commissioned images from her a handful of times, shes a great person and is always passionate about the direction RE goes in :3 *update* I sent Leggy a message to let her know about this video, she hasn't posted on DA for a year but I still wanted to let her know people do care about what she made :3
My god, I was JUST thinking about ShadowLeggy yesterday, then this comes out. I'm so happy to see other people talking about her work still.
I was definitely a ShadowLeggy fan then and still to this day. Shadowleggy back in the early days was definitely the bread and butter of RE content on CZcams and watching her progress to now is amazing. Honeslty Kai, I hope you plan to reach out to her and have a full on hour interview with them. I'm sure she'll give us insight of what it was like back in the old days of YT and being part of the RE community then. Can't say much about other websites back then. I was a user on DeviantArt and Photobucket (if anyone remembers that one), the RE community back then was small but definitely felt great to be apart of back then.
It was the animation videos at the end that brought me back. I remember the voice actors did a Sims series parody with the RE characters.
I use to bingewatch EVERY SINGLE shadowleggy's videos when I was a kid.

*Damn, seeing this once again makes me feel old! This was a time when we didn't have fast internet, CZcams back then. All we had was Resident Evil Fan: A New Blood site for the latest news, Newgrounds, Gaming Consoles to rely on.*
I can't stop smiling throughout the whole video :') yes, Kai. It does feel validated as a fan back then when we see other people like Resident Evil as much as we do because there isn't a lot of RE fans. Not like today. RE wasn't mainstream back then. I frequently rewatch Shadowleggy's videos and I think she even replied to some of my comments on her videos. I'm glad she likes the RE2 remake after expressing her hate towards RE5.
Also, I do want to mention there's a funny video dubbing over RE4 cutscenes where Leon is basically complaining all the time and all the zombies love the song Barbie Girl by Aqua and their grunts are always "Aqua". Go check that out. I hope it's still out there.

I watched so many Shadowleggy video! I remember waiting months for each of her survivor videos to come out.
I remember reading a web comic of Resident Evil around 2008. They used the story of the RE 1996, but it has the art style of 16 bit MegaMan games.
I loved the videos from Shadowleggy and the Flash Parody Videos.
They always cheered me up, and I was happy to see, that there are other people out there with the same kind of humor. ^^
ShadowLeggy and Yeti112 are my favorites. I hated that Numa Numa song back than but Leggy's parody changed my mind. And Yeti112's works have incredible voice talents.

I definitely got nostalgic. I often used to browse sites, like Resident Evil Fan, ReHorror, Evil Unleashed, BioHaze, etc. back in early 2000's. I also used to watch plenty of RE Flash animations back in the day as well.

I remember being on REfan all the time in the early 2000s. Most people in the forums were really big on those banners you could show at the bottom of their posts and I made some for some people. I remember when RE5 was still being developed and the site was just bumping with speculation and the hype was so real.

This video really took me back. I had a dedicated resident evil channel from 2012 until 2017 named nextgenresidentevil/why'd he bite me, and it never really took off. I also did a load of Resident Evil renders for the community to use in edits on deviantart over 10 years ago and they're still up and being used today which is insane. Never thought Resident Evil would grow as much as it did to the point people are really thriving off of it, a game series they really love. Wish I had the drive again to get back into it. This video really took me back to a time I had loads of fun making Resident evil content and images, trying to link up with other fans and do all sorts of crazy stuff together

Not a millenial, i'm gen z, and i had the same experience growing up on the early days of the internet. i was a young kid then, but i got into a lot of more "niche" (at the time, they were niche) games because of my older siblings and cousins. i also was very active on the internet because of their influence too.
The only way i could fangirl over these games was online, as being a kid in the rural area in the 2000's, none of my friends were really into the series that i liked as much as i did. I used to play a lot of flash games, i adored the fan art-- basically i would go wild for anything i could get my hands on online. man, fan sites, newgrounds, and deviantart were seriously a godsend.

6:50 I remember my oldest brother showing me that clip when I was a kid. I was only like maybe 6 or 7 years old and was just getting into Resident Evil and he showed me that. I don't remember what I thought of it back then, but watching that clip again after all these years is so nostalgic. I also remember watching a lot of Resident Evil music videos over the years and there are so many that are good. One of my favorites of all time is the one done by KFN94 where that person had Carry On Wayward Son playing and he started it off with the Road So Far title from Supernatural. So much fun watching those music videos. As a Resident Evil fan, I would love it if someone made a Resident Evil tribute music video set to that song because to me at least, that just somehow fits.
