  • This method allows you to trick the Quad DAC into running in External Audio mode using normal headphones by using an headphone extension adapter. By using this method the audio quality will be more louder and powerful giving a much better audio experience.

    If you have detachable earphones, it is very easy to activate high impedance or aux (not sure) mode. Unplug your cable from your headphones and plug the cable into your phone. Plug the cable back to your headphones, you will get a much louder audio output.

    If you add little impedance adoptor between extension adoptor, you can enable high impedance mode. What you do is enabling aux mode, not high impedance mode. High impedance mode sounds a lot better. Here is specific steps;
    1. Headphone code + impedance adoptor + extension adoptor. Then put it to the phone headphone jack. Phone will give you signal that you are connected to high impedance mode. However, it is not high impedance mode. You are still in the normal mode.
    2. After few second, you just remove impedance adoptor. You still need to leave extension adoptor connected, then connect headphone code to extension adoptor.
    Now enjoy the music with full functioning quad DAC!
    It sounds complicated, but whole process takes less than 10 second.
    Thank you for this video! I could find the way because of you.

    • @BigRalphN
      @BigRalphN Před 4 lety

      You are not actually getting better audio. All you are doing is increasing the power. It is like a loudness button on an old stereo. If you have more efficient headphones this isn't needed. It's perception. There are two problems with doing this. First, there is the obvious possibility of ear damage if it makes your cheap buds or headphones louder. The other issue is simple electronics and impedance matching. You could easily damage your headphones. The best idea if you need this is to get more efficient low Z headphones or buy a good set of high impedance headphones.

    • @ruekurei88
      @ruekurei88 Před rokem +1

      @@BigRalphN I see your point, but the issue with that is that while some headphones/earphones advertise that they are low impedance, they actually do need more power to bring out their actual potential. If some of them aren't amped, they won't sound really good. But it really depends on the earphone/headphone though. I have a couple that do great with the extra juice, and some that don't really need it.

    If your headphones have a detachable cable, you can plug in the cable first, then connect the cable to the headphones. Works the same. No dongle needed. LG g8 wasn't driving my Phillips fidelio x2hr loud enough until I discovered this trick. On a side note, my Sennheiser px100 headphones are 32 ohms and they trigger the higher output mode every time. My Phillips are 30 ohms and never trigger the higher output mode, so I suspect LG changed it to trigger at over 30 ohms instead of 50 in an update at some point.

    Oh man, this trick has completely unleashed my LG! I just wish I could try the 3rd, earthquake making mode, lol. Once I plugged it out and in really fast for some reason and it tricked it to the 50+Ohm, and my headphones went flying across the room as I flicked them away from my head instinctively out of pain, it didn't destroy the drivers because they are built well I assume, but my ears were hurting. Loudest thing I've ever heard, damn! No wonder it takes something really powerful and special to trigger it, that which I don't apparently own yet, lol. What purpose did LG build this audio nuke for anyway? LoL. The fact that it delivers so much more than one can even utilize, satisfies the geek in me. I simply won't buy anything else/newer than LG G8 and V60. Performance is still fantastic, battery protection circuit is aggressive so deterioration over the years is really minimum, provided you know about and use some battery care sensibilities. After 4.5 years my G8 battery capacity is still at 92%!!! If it were a Samsung or Apple it would probably be bellow 40%. Man, I miss them. I very likely spammed here years ago, still chasing for a way to tap into the 3rd power mode, like moth flying into flame, I just can't help myself until something kraps out I guess....so far it's as elusive as a Saskwatchewan, AND I live in Canada!!

It was refurbished since its not to be found anymore new, from a good rated Alixpress store, after checking the device, everything worked fine and the audio sounded good at first, until I installed a sample rate checker app, and even the hifi dac option enabled it stated 16 bit pcm at 48khz when enabling UHD sound option on samsung it shows 24bit and 192khz options listed. I have feeling those Chinese sellers removed and swapped the Quad Dac for a cheaper alternative... Really really disappointed since i only bought the phone for the dac
