  • @YouTubeneedstostopcensoring

    How would you go about adding a hard wire switch? Love the wireless remote but would like a backup in case it craps out when you need it.

    Should a 2021 ranger northstar come from the factory with the pro 4500 winch with rapid recovery

    • @PolarisORV
      @PolarisORV  Před 3 lety

      The factory winch on Northstar is single speed, not a rapid recovery winch

    If you are watching this and plan on installing an HD winch on a 2021 or newer Ranger 1000, YOU NEED TO LOCATE THE WIRING HARNESS THE WINCH CONNECTS TO BEFORE INSTALLING THE WINCH! Once you get the winch on, its impossible to see or access it to make your connections! This topic is discussed at 9:54 in the video. Also, on 2021 and newer machines, the harness is not located in the same location as mentioned in the video! It is below the radiator on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the vehicle when viewed from the front. Failing to follow my tip will cost you a lot of time and frustration. You will end up having to take the winch off the bike in order to find the 4 pin harness. Which is a real PIA.
    Oh, and installing the magnetic stop over the rope is a near impossible task. Notice he doesn't show this in the video. I sh*t you not, it took me an hour to thread it through the stop. I ended up taking a 3/8" ratchet extension and forcing it through the hole in the stop first. Multiple times. Even after doing so, it was incredibly difficult to get the rope through the hole. They need to work on that design.
