Ford's honeymoon with Joe in the F-150 electric truck is over.
Pollution is a myth anyway?
unless an ev is charged by wind , hydro, nuclear (HAS WASTE) or solar, it is still causing pollution when being charged due to coal or oil to make electricity
Toyota Hilux.
ooops, forgot all the pollution created when the car was made, plastic waste, electricity
Ford lost contact with the original principals. Go back to building good reliable simple cars that affordable to the average person. Back to basics Ford!!!
That won’t happen. Hell .. I’m still driving my 2003. Ford F150 . With 4 hundred thousand miles on it… still running strong !!!
They are great trucks@@harveyhankerson8359
@@harveyhankerson8359 Lots of Chevy's from back then still running around. I see tons of them all the time. Don't see near as many Fords. You must have taken really good care of that one.
@@Barneyrubble241 oh yeah.. I brought brand new. Right off the lot.. i just can’t afford the new ones.. !!
@@harveyhankerson8359 You're not alone. I'll rebuild my old Chevy if I have to. It's an 02 with 370k on it. Still doing fine and I get offers for it all the time. It's kind of a rare configuration though. Ext Cab Long Bed 4x4 Z71. Kind of rare back then for a half ton. Not even sure if you could order one today.
Ford admitted that they cannot compete when they gave up making four door sedans.
Except they absolutely can compete and this has nothing to do with sedans. The key is not to be greedy. Their cars are overpriced.
Everyone was buying trucks and SUV's, Sedans just were not a profitable segment.
their cars are overpriced are their EV offerings are a joke
Almost like they made some really bad decisions.
@@earthwormjim6962 No, they cannot. Their cars were unreliable and were piles of crap especially when compared to Japanese cars. Them discontinuing their sedans was proof of that. Sticking to trucks and SUV's are what they should stay focused on.
What the hell man i thought 80k f150s were selling like hot cakes!
Hahaha, with the average individual wage being under 50k; this place is totally f’ed. Cheeto Czar, please help! For real.
U.s. gov. Mandates are destroying our auto industry....
Why does no one say this enough!!!
ABSOLUTELY!!! many of the simple reliable inexpensive vehicles are not allowed sold in the west...
But the government also own this companies since it has saved them from bankruptcy multiple times.
But, if Ford goes bankrupt making EV's, Uncle Sam will be ready to save the union that gives to Dems.
Nobody wants to admit that Ford and GM are run by incompetent leaders and make terrible decisions. It's always blame the Gub'mint. Blame the Gub'mint.
What the hell is going on in this country? Fire that CEO, the guys completely incompetent
CEO's have decided to abandon their base and focus on rich people by trying to sell them luxury vehicles. All car companies are doing the same ish. No one makes an affordable vehicle anymore.
Madoff with the stockholders money....... 😮
They are listening to liberal Democrats. Mistake #1… NEVER follow any government recommendations or policies.
@bjkjoseph Incompetent, incoherent, unqualified & power hungry business leaders & politicians. It’s only getting gradually worse.
It's the poor quality of the people involved.
$80K truck is like the equivalent of $150K single wide trailer with updated fancy interior, but it's still a POS
How about they let us buy direct from dealership. I tried buying a Ford F150 lightning in cash and couldn't find a single one not marked up $50,000 by the dealership.😮💨 let them rot if they can't get a grip on reality
That’s insane. If people buy a car like that you are already upside down because you will never get that money back. Who would do that ?
@@Chernabog123 and paying 20 grand in interest isn't insane?
Please fix your spelling error, you spelled manufacturer incorrectly
You can't buy direct from auto manufactures because 'dealership associations' within your state have lobbied your politicians to keep it illegal.
Also, you only get a tax brake if you trade your can into a dealership.
We have a crooked system; politicians don't work to make your life better and more free, they do the opposite.
If turbos wore out engines, diesels wouldn't last for 500k-1 million miles. Poor engineering ruins engines with turbos.
It’s the smaller engines that the turbos tend to blow on. Bigger engines seem to handle turbos fairly well.
@@sethboooooi23245 those larger purpose-built turbo diesels were built with heavy boost ( high efficiency) in mind. Not those triples. They'll cook. 'Sad'.
That and people poorly tuning them and neglecting oil changes. Also running them hot. Can they have problems? Sure they do. However no more than NA engines. In my experience it's mostly people that treat them as if oil and coolant changes don't matter.
A lot of it is the poor intercoolers auto makers put on the cars. Diesel fuel cools cylinder walls down as it's sprayed in the cylinder but gas doesn't. I have a focus st as a daily work car and the temps spike to 180-190 as the turbo spools up which kills engines, the fix is a 700$ intercooler that keeps intake temps at a reasonable 90-100. But auto makers don't want to pay triple for the part due to volume production issues.
Diesels last that long because the fuel is almost pure oil.
That’s why they should rebuild the crown vics , grand marquis, Ford taurus etc , they stopped all the good cars
They got greedy, they think we're stupid enough to keep buying they're over priced garbage that breaks down constantly. They also said to hell with the not so well off folks which are the reason they got as big as they did In the first place. They're cheapest vehicle starts at 30k base not including fees and taxes ofcourse.
I’m always looking for a clean grand marquis those things are indestructible.

I have a 2000 Durango and it has a magnum engine not a hemi. I love the thing. In the 14 years I’ve had it I’ve replaced everything except the engine and trans. I mean everything, rear differential, everything. Lots of back yard body work. I figure I’ve spent about $25,000.00 including the original price I paid. It seats seven and rides great. Divide that by 14 years, not bad. It’s not how much it’s worth, it’s how much I save by keeping it in repair. If the engine or transmission ever goes ill replace it, it’s my cheapest and reliable option.

Scotty, i get your bias about turbo engines.( I am also a mechanic btw) These cars can last just the same. As long as you know the failure points going in. You can easily get well over 200k miles out of them. Modding is where you run into problems. Even then as long as you tune it properly and dont skimp out on oil changes and keep the car from overheating. The issues are minimized and longevity is very attainable. Technology has came a long way since the early days. Alot of failures are due to poor maintenance and people running poor tunes with excessive boost pressure. My family runs Ford ecoboost 2.7 and 3.5 and both have well over 250k miles and are still going strong. And they are work trucks.
the big 3 are absolutely in trouble courtesy of the government .
and build quality
@@kennywhiddon1497 agreed. i HATE the fact these ‘American’ cars are made everywhere else aside America. i am a huge toyota fan but even they shipped out their business to south america. QC will decline and im not buying in.
Not because of the government it’s because they kiss their ***. Gutless woke CEO’s
I used to work for Hertz who featured Ford cars. I learned to never buy a cord car. Always small to big problems that had their cars be sent in for repair
Cord?
The cord hasn’t been made in a lot of years. In my long life, I’ve driven every make and model of American car or truck. I’ve had the worst luck with Chevrolet with electrical issues but my Fords have always been pretty much trouble free. I do pay very close attention to maintenance and fluid changes so my vehicles tend to fare better than most peoples.
Scotty: The 2000 Chrysler 5.9 V8 is not one of the Hemi engines . . .
Yep, I heard that too. Had to rewind the video to make sure I didn't mishear it...
Who cares really?
Don't be stupid . . . who really cares ? I'm sure the guy who just got bogus advice cares a great deal! Scotty's entire response was based on the idea that it was a HEMI.
5.9 litre are a Magnum engine
Yeap i caught that too .
Ford’s just going in circles, the king of recalls doesn’t know what they’re doing.
well yeah that's what they always do🤣🤣
2018 Ford Fiesta; 87K miles, paid off. Besides a new control module, it still runs great as an A-to-B car. Any thoughts?
I like to say thank you Scotty for show me to drive slower . And get the most out of the car . I used to be a lead foot
Blame the dealers too by marking the cars up so high they’re basically a luxury brand now
that's inflation for you🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
thanks for the info on the turbo cause I've been seeing them in so many cars when looking for cars for sale and wondered why. I had a turbo back in the 80's on a daytona and it wore out and costed a fortune to fix, never forgot that
Gotta love folks out there just calling it like it is. Well said!
My brother bought a 1991 Buick Rivera with the non-turbo 3.8 liter engine 20 years ago
with 151,000 miles on it. He sold it to a friend 2 years ago with 410,000 miles on it.
The timing chain had started to rattle. His friend bought it anyway, and he has been
driving it trouble free for the last two years. It now has 435,000 miles on it.

Attention Carmakers: WE DONT WANT ELECTRIC CARS AND TRUCKS OR HYBRIDS. Is that clear enough?
Not true, bio fuels and alt fuels would be nice and EVs are fine when there not being sold for 50% more than there worth
@@UnionPacific1997 People in multi resident housing usually cannot charge EVs. Hybrids are more complicated and expensive to fix.
@@UnionPacific1997that’s why flexfuel did so well…right? People in the middle and lower middle and lower class do not want the hassle of an electric vehicle, they don’t want to pay the electric bill or have a charging station installed, and they don’t want to worry about charging a vehicle to get to work. I live in the heart of ford country, southeast Michigan. All of the ford employees drive gas powered vehicles.
It doesn’t matter what we want. The government is imposing emission standards that make it impossible to build gasoline powered cars. The automakers have no choice but to build EV’s since building gasoline powered cars will be illegal in about 10 years. Elections have consequences.
They don’t understand the messages from the customers they only listen to the goverment 😂😂😂

I am learning a lot from you.
EV manufacturing was paid for largely by tax dollars. They just lost our money. I think reparations are in order. Some people paid big money for those crappy cars. Reality is that they paid for that car twice. Or more.
The Toyota 1jz and 2jz engines are turbo and as long as you don’t overboost it will last forever the turbos will wear out multiple times before the motor has any issues and most of the issues these motors have are mostly due to abuse and poor maintenance
3.8 litre GM great engine till the bad plenum design with mandatory coolant change overheating EGR valve cooking coolant to jelly and blowing intake gaskets when plenum warped sending massive amounts of coolant into heads hydro- locking the engine.
Yeah. That was bad. Really bad.

Scotty the 5.9 in that Durango is not a Hemi it's a 360
Been watching and following along for years Scotty, just a brief recap
According to you, by now, Chrysler/Dodge/Stellantis, Ford, GM have LOST TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS, and gone out of business many times, sometimes permanently, while Honda and Toyota have remade the World in their own image, battling for Control of the Solar System.
Ok, take some Ritalin, maybe a Dump Trucks worth, relax, and CALM DOWN. They are all still here. Keep em coming bud. Entertaining.
It is just a difference in business models. My explanation is not typical, but it is important to understand.
1. The Japanese language has no alphabet. The orignal Chinese characters and the characters in 20th century Katakana and Hiraga are not an alphabet. Think writing is difficult. So imagine a company with layers of management. Unlike the US where the orders and directions are top down, an idea is circulated among managers at the same level and when there is approval, the suggestion is kicked up to the next level. This results in incremental, but solid improvements in cars.
There isn't going to be advertising like "all new for 2025", "fastest selling" or "revolutionary" as you see from Detroit.
2. Which car companies are going out, finding promoters selling "new techologies" and paying fortunes for the small "future of the industry" companies that don't pay off? The Detroit based car companies which decided to value advertising over reliaiblity, flash over quality.
3. There are a lot of Americans who buy vehicles based upon the monthly car payment and impressing the neighbors. With disruptions in the economy over the last few years, governmental subsidies for car makers too big to fail not on the table, and Detroit not living up to promises of improved quality, the Detroit based major car companies should be in trouble.
When you're screwing over your customer's, dont act suprised if your modern day junk remains in your and your dealers lots, instead of someone's driveway.
Thanks Scotty 😊

The Buick 3800 V6 was also manufactured in Australia by General Motors - Holden until the whole Australian division was closed in 2017. I have one in my 2010 VE Holden and it's still going strong. Nothing fancy - OHV with no VVT but the power delivery is quite good with GDI. I suppose my next car will be a Toyota.
Not sure if it was just the VY/etc but keep an eye on the timing chains and catch them before it gets bad if it applies to your v6. Other than that, they are pretty bulletproof.
@@N4CR5 thanks - will do. I'm hoping that the ECM will give a warning because the chain is mighty difficult to eye-ball.
This may be my last Ford. They collect driving acceleration and deceleration data. 👎
New cars are collecting a lot of data of all kinds, not just about the car & its performance, but also about its driver. There's no way to stop that data collection; so I won't ever be getting a new car. My 2012 doesn't tell the manufacturer (or the gov't) anything about my car or my driving, so I reckon I'll just keep it & repair as necessary. *NO SPYWARE*
Reintroduce your pre 2007 models and sales will skyrocket. Few want these astronomically priced, complicated and over equipped vehicles.
That’s my motto ( Drive it till it drops) or my favorite is (Drive it like it’s broke) I have never been stranded in one of my junkers. Only time I got stranded was in my new Ford Aerostar in 1993 first and last new car I ever bought.

Ford was at the top of their game in 2000 nds with Mullaly.. He wanted to be the best in segment in each vehicle. Now their cars are going to crap. Ford was known as the worlds most reliable engines. Sadly, not today. Rehire your old engineers and get back into the game

We purchased a 2017 Ford Escape with the ecoboost motor before the pandemic, it was a great price and I always thought Ford was a dependable brand. This car has been nothing but trouble, there’s been two recalls which we had serviced and yesterday the motor went out. The Ford automobile is named after Mr. Henry Ford of Detroit, Michigan who pioneered the assembly line method of automobile manufacturing.
1.5L turbo vs 2.4L same power, turbo cost more to maintain and less mileage.
Turbos also create an exhaust impediment, so are never more efficient than the same engine un-turbo'd. It's just to save costs for manufacturer with cheaper castings and a cheaper, consumable part that will fail later to make up for it.

The corporations love state intervention, because it benefits the corporations. Eventually, it doesn't benefit the corporations, but the execs all get golden parachutes, so what do they care? But for decades, it does grow the corporations and squeeze out/eliminate any real competition.

Why wasn't the designer of those wheels sued? even GM blamed them.
That old Dodge Durango has a 5.9 Magnum, not a Hemi (even though they share bore spacing. It's the old 360 Dodge (273, 318, 340, 360, and the truck V10). I guarantee, without looking at it, that an oil system cleaner, fresh oil, and a switch to Havoline High milage oil will have that truck go another 100,000 without a problem (provided there are no broken parts). Over the next year you save up for a replacement engine and a rebuilt transmission. Is the truck worth it by "Book Value?🙄), probably not. But is it worth $6000 or maybe $9000 to repower, change all suspension wearout items, and get new tires and brakes ? YES ! You will never buy a new vehicle in that price range. The only reason I say it is because that truck is almost as simple as a carbureted truck. They parts are plentiful and the entire interior is available in the aftermarket. We have a 1969 Ford F250 with $20,000 in her... no way can I buy a new gas ¾ton that'll tow what this Camper Special can and be dead reliable. Buy an old truck and rebuild it. If it cost you $30,000 to do right, that's still $30k cheaper than a new one and it's infinity rebuildable. Next year this truck will have the same miles as going to the moon and back. The $30k you save at purchase can buy 10 years worth of gas, think about it. The insurance is about half as much or less than a new truck as well. Oh, and an entire A/C system is $1800. It's a nobrainer.
Make a car people can afford simple. They do not need all the fancy crap.
Mitsubishi Mirage... it actually was on a list a few months ago... better reliability than Honda and Toyotas... just keep up on the transmission changes.
on May 7th this year....Ford announced 1.8 billion in stock buybacks....and did 3.5 billion in buybacks since 2012. All this while the union took pay freezes.

The 5.9 is the classic LA dodge 360.
About the 2000 Dodge Durango..... What is newer / better? Modern SUVs are more complex, less reliable, less capable. I'm sinking serious money into a 2003 Tahoe for the same reason. I would buy it again in a heartbeat if it were available new, instead I'm buying it again after 21 years trouble free motoring.
The saying is “buy on rumor, sell on news”😊
I’ve always owned fords and haven’t had any issues
Ford is mandated to MAKE electric cars, not SELL them. Why not just bake the extra cost of making EVs into the EVs and leave the ice cars out of that. Then they can focus on selling ice cars and making enough money to offset EV production without raising the prices of ice cars. Could that work?
As long as the customer takes it in the butt on technicalities, that’s the Tesla model. Taxpayer dollars will always bail out the Big 3 no matter how bad they get.
If they make a poor desing on door handles it is their own responsibility. So obvious they should have never disagree. makes more damage than solving all model S (a very old desing) but it was so expensive there are not that many on the road.
