  • Welcome to 4K Motoring!
    Today we are performing a simple upgrade that makes living with the second generation Nissan Titan and Nissan Titan XD (2016+) a little easier. To call the backup camera that comes from Nissan "adequate" would be generous. Thankfully, our friends at Master Tailgaters have just the solution. Their upgraded backup camera (available here: amzn.to/3yUyY30 ) is an easy upgrade to enhance rearward visibility. The installation took only a few minutes requiring only a few household tools. Watch the video and see for yourself!
    Have any of you watching found another solution that works well? Have you replaced your infotainment screen to add clarity to your backup camera feed? Let us know in the comments below!

    Thanks for this video! I just changed out my camera. It was super easy. Your video definitely helped out!

    Thanks for posting this. I’ll look around to see if there’s a better quality camera available yet before I poke around. Nissan should be embarrassed to send out that poor level of quality camera OEM.

      Any luck? I have the Phoenix unit with a better resolution display. Curious of any camera that are direct fit that improves this feature.

    I was having trouble with my back up camera on 2018 Titan SV 4x4. Just replaced mine using your video and part suggestion. Low light picture is Much better.

      Glad to hear it! The low light performance is definitely the biggest difference I've noticed as well

    Much better than the original. I’m working on a solution as well. Let me know if you’d like to collaborate on a solution. Great 👍 video

      I'd love to find a more modern solution. This upgraded camera is a huge upgrade, especially in low light environments. As mentioned, it isn't even 1080p quality. As we move into the mid-2020s, I'm amazed at how little quality these backup cameras still offer

  • @kenna.9368
    @kenna.9368 Před rokem +2

    There’s an obvious noticeable difference but not sure it’s worth it. Nissan just needs to improve this feature like every other manufacturer in 2022. No wonder they are so behind the competition selling on 30k a year!

      I've seen these all over the forums! I'm definitely considering some increased lighting for the rear of the truck, this camera is a big improvement in low light already

    I got the Phoenix unit installed, bigger reverse display with obviously a better resolution, curious of the difference of this mod would do for it.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před 2 lety +1

      I have been very curious if the head unit is the main cause of the low resolution or if it is truly the camera itself. The upgraded camera I installed still says it's not up to 1080p or similar quality that I would expect out of a modern camera, so I'm not sure how much better it would look on an aftermarket head unit

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před 2 lety

      Nissan does tend to use the same parts across models, so there's a good chance. It would all depend on the bracket that is used to mount it. If you want to take the time to take your vehicle apart to verify that the camera looks similar, you could be pretty sure it's the same model

  • @HP-ov7ol
    @HP-ov7ol Před měsícem +1

    Not sure that's worth the effort. You need a backup camera so you know if youre going to hit something - not to read paint can labels while backing up.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před měsícem

      Monetary investment aside, it is surprisingly very low effort to make this switch. The night time visibility has pretty substantially increased as well as some of the fine detail which is helpful for things like hooking up a trailer.
      Sure, people have backed vehicles for years without cameras at all, but clear images are appreciated

    @irishsavage8715 Před rokem +2

    It looks exactly the same

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem

      It's not a profound difference for sure, it is a bit more noticeable at night as the new camera lets in a lot more light. For that reason, I would say it was a worthwhile investment...

    For 120$ I don’t see the difference I’ve got an 2018 Titan and tail lights are smoked and I’ve never had a problem day or night but hey to each his own yolo

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem

      I noticed the biggest difference at night as the image is a whole lot brighter than the factory camera. If you're not hooking to a trailer or backing through intricate areas in the dark, it's probably not a big deal for you. Still, it is woefully inadequate compared to most other modern vehicles, even with the upgrade.
