As a former 'advanced' stepper, it's been frustrating to start from the beginning after 4 major surgeries on my right knee (2) and hip (2) incl replacement of both. My body doesn't quite work the way it always did both mechanically and in terms of balance. After the knee replacement in Aug. '20 I gave up on Step after a few unsuccessful attempts. My confidence was shot so I concentrated on weight training and flexibility/mobility, which I'd always loved as well. After 'discovering' you in Feb and becoming addicted to your weight workouts, I dipped my toe into the baby pool of Step. I took my time, starting with no step, always encouraged by your advice to give myself a break and do what I could do. I graduated to the platform w/no risers and can finally use risers for beginner routines and just the Step for intermediate/advanced. Propulsion and spin moves are challenging, but I'm determined! I'm generally with you Live or **** 6 days/week. Thank you for your expertise and commitment to those at all levels. What you do and your impact are extraordinary, Chris. I feel like I've found 'me' again! Endless thanks.

@@CDornerFitness I've been wanting to explain why I feel so much gratitude and after getting through this entire routine with risers I knew it was time. I've only been able to do that a few times so far..
Also, just to let new steppers know that it's a process. Start with beginner routines on the floor if necessary, then try the bench and finally (if ever) add the risers...all in your own time. Then do the same for intermediate and advanced versions. And watch Chris's tutorials. She spends time providing a way for everyone to find success.

I’m just getting back into step after a 30 year break, apart from one crazy class I went to where I spent most of the time stood on my step wondering which way I was meant to be going 😅. Thanks for doing what you do. Like I mentioned in another video about a week ago, my wife and I are trying to get back into STEP after a long break - our Y only offers one step class a week. Your classes are perfect for that, fun, 30 minutes (so far) at various speeds, good music and a great instructor! perfect for a couple of 70 year olds!

I just found your channel. I’ve done 2 beginner workouts. I am a cancer survivor diagnosed last year and now cancer free and in recovery. I just finished the LiveStrong program at my YMCA. We’ve done strength training for the past 3 months. I am now working on cardio and I love step aerobics! I’m going to try and catch you live!!

hello Christina, I haven't done step in 30 years and I used to be a step instructor in the '80's and 90's. I've challenged myself to do a full on step class in June of this year and your videos are getting my back in shape to meet my challenge for this 60 minute class. You are so awesome and I look forward to your classes. I'm only on my second class (because I couldn't walk for 2 days :) after my first one. I'll be seeing you virtually again very soon. Oh, and I'm really looking forward to doing some weight and stretch classes with you as well. :)

I'm usually a one riser fast basic sort of gal, having 2 left feet (and between 3-40 right feet) I'd rather work hard at basic choreography and have fun than spend 30 mins looking like an octopus on ice with advanced moves. Anyho, thought I'd take a holiday from fast basic and do this quick (and easy!!??) beginners class and put in two risers OMG those extra 2 inches made such a difference, sooo challenging - really works the quads differently - you need the slightly slower music to give you time to "climb" up onto the step. V sweaty. I will go through your back catalogue and do your "easy" step classes with 2 risers. PS: Loved the uplifting music (so much better than cotton eye Joe!?!)

I had surgery in February and was cleared to workout then I began having complications.
Today was my first day back at doing step and this workout was perfect!!
