  • Today's guest is Lindsey Metselaar. Lindsey is a native New Yorker and host of the highly popular We Met At Acme podcast, which has amassed over 7 million downloads since its creation in 2017. Lindsey also has a food blog called Don't Expect Salads (@dontexpectsalads) with over 110,000 followers. In Today's episode, we dive deep into Lindsey's recovery journey.     20 years addicted to thc and quit recently, I can relate. Things are so much better sober it's not even funny. To anyone struggling with thc addiction, I assure you sobriety is worth it. There is light on the other side of the tunnel, but the only way to get there is through the tunnel. If I can do it, you can too.

      ​@@otpays8552 Yes, I recently relapsed after not smoking for 2 years and just quit again today. I already know I can beat this as I've done this shit before. Fruit/smoothies(If you can't eat), daily exercise, and talking with family and friends is helpful. You will beat this, I promise.

      Like any addiction, there's stages.
      Denial is a big step, it can get you caught up in that cycle of not wanting to have another smoke... But when you do you get stuck in for a long time again.
      Will power is seeing the triggers that make you want it and using that positive outcome to hold fast.
      Stopping smoking is 1 at a time, so everyone we can avoid is a win.
      Get that 1st big win and just build on it.🙌😁

    What ppl dont realise is that it takes about 90 to 120 days to return to normal after your last exposure to marijuana.
    Of course, after one day you think u r normal. Then after one week you say "what was I thinking? Now I'm back to normal." After one month, you realize you were not nearly normal after just one week...and this goes on for about 3 months.

      Super curious to hear more. I am around day 90 or so….really going through it. Lots of thing coming up for me. Most of the internet talks about one week or something but don’t really go into the “why you were smoking in the first place”, I am searching for more validation that it’s a longer process.

      @@michaelmagennis3869 not physical withdrawals, but as I mention above, a deeper revelation of the reasons why I ever used in the first place. Old memories and old pain coming up, re-learning or, in my case, simply learning how to cope with life. Also, lots of dreams, and I'm well past the initial dream rebound phase which most folks say is a few weeks after quitting. I'm into like day 230 or something, dreams are intense.

      Wow really needed to read this , I quit weed and always return to it I am 24 in a few weeks and damn weed always messed my life up because I can’t cope under weed , today my last day got a few joints left then going to go sober for a long time , I look forward to these timelines I actually enjoy the period of getting back together after months of blazing everyday

    I smoked for 15+ years straight without any breaks, multiple times every single day. Finally gave it up cold turkey a year ago. It's 11-'23 and my last smoke was in 11-'22. Every single thing said so far in the first 20 minutes, I resonate with very deeply in my own experiences. I'm sooooo much better off without cannabis, mentally, financially, and even physically. I genuinely thought I would never quit, that there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell I could function without weed, but I was completely mistaken. If I could do it, anyone in a similar situation reading this can as well.

    I've finally overcome cannabis addiction after almost 14 years. I was in denial for a long time as well. But finally i got tired of myself. Got fed up feeling fat, sick, hazey all day every day. Binge eating and just under preforming in every aspect of my life. My spouse still smokes heavily, and yet i still have no desire to get back into it. It truly has lost all its appeal and I'm so relieved about that. I thought id be hooked forever

      I was in denial for a very long time too, but what baffles me even more in hindsight are the years (!) I kept the addiction going while not even being in denial about it anymore. That part to me is the most messed up part of addiction (of my addiciton in particular, but I'd venture a guess that this is not limited to just myself).

      @@thomasjonckheere8615 When did you last postpone getting high, even if it was only for an hour? I've found that this was crucial for me, to gain an intuitive insight into my addictive behavior.
      So that would be my "first-responder" advice to someone in a similar situation: Try to withstand the cravings, even if it's only for a very short while, and observe what being (more) sober (than usual) does, and how getting high instantly wraps you in mind-fog. Even if it's just an hour: that hour is your decision, not the addiction's.
      You may find that when you don't let the addiction freely dictate the rhythm of intake, your mind catches on much more rapidly to how annoying being high/stoned really is.

    Quitting weed was tough.... but sooner or later I just grew to HATE what it was doing to me. Quit 6 years ago when I decided to go back to College and haven't looked back since. Eventually quit junk food and booze as well. Getting MUCH better sleep, and my body just works SO much better overall! The key to remaining sober in my opinion is learning how to become emotionally stable on your own. You have to learn how to feel good naturally without needing to reach for a substance. Life is tough without an easy button like weed, but it's way more rewarding as well!

      weed kinda made me dumb and lazy, the only time i would use it again is shorty before going to sleep cause thats the only positive i saw in this for me, the sleep quality was great

      Unfortunately that isn't true either. Weed actually inhibits deep sleep which is an essential part of the sleep cycle where neural connections repair and grow. I recall having infinitely better sleep when I stopped smoking actually. Getting good sleep is far more about developing good sleep hygiene actually. Once I learned more about sleep hygiene techniques and also about circadian biology I started to very consistently get a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. No weed required.@@bluelightmoon777

      What part of the brain is responsible for directing your attention (focus) on something? That would be the pre frontal cortex. Wanna know why there's an age limit on weed (and booze as well)? These things have a VERY negative impact on that portion of the brain, and they both drastically slow it's growth during the developmental stage of your life. Hence kids shouldn't smoke weed. Or anything really because smoking basically anything negatively impacts your cognitive functions. Try quitting weed for 30 days, and then see how good your focus is. I can assure you that it will get much better. But what do I know right? I only used to be a heavy smoker with ADHD no less. My ability to focus reached levels I never thought possible when I quit weed, started to eat healthy, got more exercise, got better sleep, and especially when I started to meditate (meditation IS something that increases your focus since it is essentially an exercise of focusing on an "anchor" you choose beforehand). But why the HECK would you wanna do all that stuff right? It's too hard. Definitely easier to just light up a bong everyday to "improve" your focus.@@labbeaj

    I smoked for 7 years and been clean for over 40 years. It's still tough sometimes especially when I smell it on the street but you can't compare being sober to being high....being sober is SO MUCH better you can't even compare it. I have been on both sides of the fence and the sober side is where I stay for today.

    I have smoked since I was 14, 23 now. I legit had to stop smoking because it really started affecting my mind. I developed excruciating anxiety and legit felt like I was on the edge of going into psychosis. Ever since I smoked a certain strain it’s never been the same for me. Hardest part is realising it will never be the same and I need to change before I end up doing some permanent damage. Only day 2 right now but it’s a good start

      I’m currently finishing day 3.. I Hope you’re doing well! I smoked from age 15 to now, I’m 34. I quit cold turkey when I was 21 for a full year and then gave in. It was rough that time right off the bat but I’m amazed that I’m okay so far this time, mostly irritable, not sleeping well or eating very lightly. The cravings have not kicked in hardcore yet, but I know they’re around the corner, journaling has been somewhat helpful. Looking for things to sign up for to stay busy. Fitness classes, etc. good luck and stay strong!

    I always remember when i told my "friends" i think i was addicted to weed, Id always get the "weed isnt addictive" "weed isnt harmful" speeches, But my reality was that it destroyed my life at one point, i couldn't go a day without the stuff and was smoking weed like cigarettes (so every hour id be rolling another joint) Ive been sober now for 5 years, and learnt those friends were not friends, they were and still are drug addicts that were a bad influence and holding me back in life, life is so much better now without them and the weed

      I wish they were readily available in my place.
      Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac.
      He's constantly talking about killing someone.
      He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.

      Good on you! One thing that might help the craving is replacing it with a good habit (exercise, reading, meditation etc) It’s just about keeping your mind busy, and focus on the end goal!

      I am looking to do the same. I have made so many attempts. I have gotten rid of everything in my house that’s related to weed and then turned around a week later and went but everything back again this time I really want to stop because I’m just done with it, I’m tired of having Band-Aids and crutches in my life. I’m tired of feeling like I have something that is controlling me and I don’t have control over it.

      Run get your heart rate up. Even if your out of shape just get that runners high everytime you get a craving. It works.

    It’s true.. I wasted so many years just sitting around smoking, getting weed and just being high all the time. I’ve watched people go homeless because they have to smoke a half Oz of weed a day! When I see sober people I get jealous, I want to be free like them. Wake up and eat breakfast like a normal human being. I used to love smoking and having fun with my friends or GF. It’s old to me now and I don’t enjoy it, I just smoke because I’m so used to the habit. The weed got so bad after it became legal too. I used to get better weed when it was illegal, idk what happened to the Sour d, Haze, and real Kush that we used to have around. All these new strains are so weak and smell funny. One day I’ll be free, it’s going to be tough though.

      CBD strains are amazing at helping you just naturally move away from thc, in my own experience the health giving and non cerebral properties seem to just take over and you no longer want or need the psychoactive, cbd is calming enough ! ps, 13 yrs in recovery from alcohol using the 12 step helped a lot also ! God says "high no longer needed" now the healing can really begin ! gb.odaat

    I decided to quit last night, so when I woke up, I filled the pinch hitter, and took a hit just like Lindsey did, then decided, that was my last, it's been 8 hours since, and I am determined to stop. I've been putting off watching a video like this for about 3 weeks, now that I've watched this one I'll probably be thinking about the things you two spoke about for several days.     Smoking for 20 years. I have such a bad memory that my 89 year old granny reminds me of things. I've wanted to stop over a decade and now feel like I must stop being a zombie in denial 😢 I don't wanna die high with a unfulfilled wasted life ❤ we do not get high, we stay grounded ❤

    She’s right, if you’re having with drawls it’s like 85% weed and the other 15% was the tobacco and nicotine. You really feel like crap. I can’t eat with out cause weed either cause no app. Can’t sleep and then you start sweating at night. Dreams feel so real it’s crazy. As a long time stoner she makes so many valid points a stoner will ignore every truth it’s the sad truth I think post Malone said derealization is a real thing watching your life go by just lost in a haze but you’re okay with it .sober days after smoking for so long feel so weird, you’re irritable, everything ironically goes wrong vs the days you were smoking.
    Been smoking heavy for 5 years and I’m sober for 1 month and each day feels more clearer. Your brain is thinking straight, sharper decision making with out the paranoi behind that decision. You can actually breathe better your lungs really do thank you! Just so many positives guys. Over the years I know for a fact I spent 20-30k on weed EASILY WHERE IS THAT MONEY NOW?!!? That just blows my mind. I can’t convince anyone to stop but just know guys there are POSITIVES to it going on 40 days which is nothing I know but 4-6 months anyone will see a DRAMATIC CHANGE. That first month feels like hell but push guys I know y’all can do it !!!

      Nicotine withdrawals last about 3 days.. people should switch to joints with no tobacco before they quit. It’s easy to quit tobacco with weed.

      I'm not so sure it wasn't 85% tobacco and 15% THC for me. I used to roll a spliff just so I could get a nic hit. Then I'd get paranoid and feel like shit.

    7 days sober and the night sweats are the absolute worst for me. Thats the reason im never going back its getting slightly easier each day. I cant wait until a test shows clean that will be a great accomplishment knowing after 14 years being dirty.

      If you're still having sweating issues; try high dose vitamin D, vitamin C, and regular supplementation of vitamin B. Zinc possibly as well

      If you mean to say they're not as severe as withdrawals of other substances - that could be true averagely. But quitting weed is not entirely psychological, there are definitely physical elements.

    I thought I was “better” than my family full of hard drug addicts and alcoholics cause I just self medicated with weed for 10 years.. meanwhile I’m an addict too.
    Addiction isn’t just physical it’s a mental thing you’re born with in my opinion. You could be clean for 30 years and still be one.

      I agree with you but at the same time there is studies being released about how THC can increase symptoms of PTSD. As a person with stress induced amnesia and PTSD who has been smoking for 10 years + it has only made things worse. The other cannabinoids like CBG, CBD, and CBN is where the real magic is at. I hope you continue to utilize what helps you, but I also encourage you to check out all your resources 💜

      @@oliviaok625 I've been part of the entire legalization in Missouri. I helped get the Veterans added in for some of the tax proceeds and gathered signatures. I've also attended CSU in Pueblo Colorado for the Cannabis Research expo and a few others in the United States as well as part of the first Missouri's Cannabis Expo. I've done my research... yes some terpenes can cause an adverse reaction and could cause paranoia and other symptoms. But..... Cannabis in general overall is where I'm talking. I personally need THC for my Pain Management.. CBD and CBN are NON alcoholic Beers in my opinion. You need to speak with an Educated Bud Tender to figure out the proper dosage and tolerance. Not everyone can eat a 100mg gummy and be okay where others it barely touches the pain. Like my mom has nuropothy and just a 10mg was too much for her because she had never done it. I'll end it again with "What works for one doesn't work for all!" 🙃

    The first few times I smoked weed, I found that it makes me LOW, not high! Having been practicing Transcendental Meditation, I found the consciousness I developed was blissful, and the marijuana really brought me down. So I didn't continue smoking. Meditation: fun. Smoking weed: no fun. Now if someone lights a joint, I leave the room, the party, the house, whatever. I don't even want to smell it on the street.

    My guy I’m on day 17 after smoking 3-4 times daily and I must say I’ve tried to quit since the year started and I’ve finally made it past the withdrawal phase a few days ago. I can honestly say every aspect of my life has improved. I actually have goals now, my energy is out the roof, I actually get good sleep now and when I wake up for work in the morning I’m actually motivated and don’t get me started on the money I’m saving now. What I would usually spend every week I’m now putting it into savings. I’m more focused on my daughter and son. Everything that you explained I felt it on a large scale. I am genuinely happy now.     I quit just because I needed to go back to the working world. I have been clean for 2 1/2 months and I'm still pissing hot. {Heavy user 12 years} I'm not addicted to it but I sure miss it. I function better and get along with people better with it. It gives me patients that I don't have without it. It helps me sleep,and most of all it is a muscle relaxer that works very well. It is a gift from God as far as I'm concerned.

    I just quit a couple weeks ago as well. Haven't missed a day in 20 years. First couple days I had no idea what to even do with myself. No appetite whatsoever. I lost 12 lbs my first week. I would get fired up on caffeine, red bull, monster all that. Then get high. Caffinate before you incinerate. Cuz you gotta get up before you get down. Lol... Now I can only take about a cup of coffee. Anymore then that is way too much. Before quitting my mood swings were off the chart. What made it worse was the vaping. Concentrates. Screws up dopamine levels. I quit cold turkey . First few days were so painful. After a week it started to clear up.

      Same. Drink coffee, get anxious, smoke weed to help, get high and lethargic, drink more caffeine. Start sweating. Mad anxiety but brain is slow AF. Feel bad the rest of the day but keep smoking and then trying to pick myself up w caffeine. Smh

      Vaping changed me. I'm thankful you mentioned that. Panic attacks and anxiety through the roof. I just don't think flower screwed me up this much. My life feels so different now and I hate the panic. I believe it's time for me to stop smoking all together. The vape screwed up my head. 😥

    This episode really resonated with me. My recovery journey has spanned decades and have finally strung together 3 years of sobriety from alcohol. Cannabis has been more recent. I'm a musician and artist and thought that I needed drugs for creativity. The reality is that there may be some ideas that come about, but functionality is affected too much to execute them. I find meditation and healthy living to be much more effective. Thanks again!

    I started smoking when I was 16. Became daily. 21 years later, I stopped for about 16 months, cold turkey, didn't look back. Wasn't even difficult, just a bit of discipline in the beginning. I noticed ONLY ONE difference - remembering dreams. Literally nothing else changed. I still had great mental clarity, I was still as productive as ever, creative, my moods didn't change, weight gain/loss, nothing that could be reasonably ascribed to the removal of cannabis use. So I started again. No big deal, I work in permaculture and it's quite enjoyable to combine outdoor gardening/farming with it. It's also nice to just relax in the evening, after my social responsibilities are done.
    Moral of MY story, for YOU, could be: not every shoe fits every hand.

      You can do it man! I'm the same age as you and I live a life of great solitude, but I've never been keen on social situations so I don't mind too much. I stopped smoking a few years ago so now I use weed in a homemade edible form. I stopped using it two weeks ago and I have found it beneficial. I will probably start taking it again at some point because I view it as medicine, but I had definitely been overdoing it. I hope you will consider taking a break at least. I recommend reading the Word of God to deal with the world as a loner and find a deeper meaning in life. Peace.

    Interesting how it affects everyone different. I've never had any of the symptons you have but instead herb is great for training martial arts, meditating, and looking within. It has help me in many ways I can't relate to this at all. However no subastance should never be over used. If you are using herb to be a lazy MoFo then that's just herb showing you who you really hard. Go train!

For me, it's ruining me but it's so hard , I been smoking since 15 on and off and I learned in that time the more you to off and then back on weed the further you become from actually freeing yourself because the next time motivates you less and less.     CBD edibles helped me get over the hump to quit. 5mg in the morning first thing took away the cravings for pot. Then 5mg in early afternoon. Did this for a week then didn't even need the CBD. In the last year I've "quit" 5 times and currently 3 weeks sober. I really hope it sticks this time.

    i think people dont understand. moderation and self-control is the key to life. if you smoked all day every day, of course your life is out of balance. and of course your narrative afterwards is going to be that your life is changed off of it...but its really the understanding of self-control. i used to smoke a lot of weed but i realized that i operated much better when i controlled how much i did smoke and going through multi-month long stretches of not smoking at all. self control.

    Another aspect of it is your ritual tied to smoking. Like I used to sit in my garage watching CZcams and tinkering, but I had to stay away from the garage for a while until I could manage my cravings better. You may need to change you routine to help cut out triggers that cause cravings.

      Years of cultural/emotional conditioning lead to warped view of yourself and what you “need” to survive here. Psilocybin allows you to see yourself outside of yourself. So you can release the false identifications with external substances (or emotional patterns) that you mistook for who you are and what you are bound to. It’s like feeling trapped your whole life not relaxing the door is open wide right behind you. Psilocybin is not a drug anyone does everyday in excess. A micro dose is more like a vitamin for your brain than a drug that gets you high.

      I spent 13 years smoking everyday. I was/am a really high functioning stoner. But I swear it used to be fun but now I just get more anxious, feel overly sensitive to any stimuli, am slow AF to leave the house and my sense of time is off. It for sure affected my short term memory. I noticed myself stumbling over my words. I feel like I became so much more docile and so much more of a people pleaser. I thought it made me chill, and maybe it did in the beginning, but I think the extended smoking made me cross over being chill and into being someone who avoids any sort of disagreement. Also, decision making, holy wow, so difficult.
      I quit alcohol first. Now it's time to taper off marijuana.

    When I'm sober it's easier to be happy because I can shove my problems under the carpet easier. And when I'm not, it's hard not to see the them, which leads me to depression and anxiety because I'm not doing anything to change and then I take a break and I'm happy again because I can overlook the neglect of the dreams I wish to pursue.

    Like any substance, it can either help or harm whatever condition you use it to treat. People don’t think this extends to natural things that get prescribed. Also, no addict knows they are an addict before they become one. Some people just have a personality flaw where they can get emotionally dependent on things that aren’t highly physically addictive. I consume for health reasons. I smoke less than a bowel a day and have for years. I don’t even smoke a little more than I usually would in social situations that often anymore (I don’t really drink due to my health issues). Maybe at a concert will I take an extra hit on my one hitter. But I’m not an addict. I wasn’t raised around addicts and if I don’t have weed for a week or two, I’m fine unless my Crohn’s decides to show up. I can’t understand what an addict experiences when they indulge in a substance, but I can recognize them now as an adult. I’ve met enough. It’s not just drugs and alcohol. Many will eat a box of Oreos when I had two and that was enough. They have multiple cups of coffee or energy drinks throughout the day even when they slept well the night before. They are very routine-oriented even when in recovery. Many have a special ‘way’ they consume whatever substances they have. Some addicts even get addicted to healthy things like working out, and take it to an unhealthy place… like body builders who take sketchy substances and steroids. I wish we had better ways to determine who’s likely to become an addict before they try anything. Our country needs to start approaching mental health like physical health and encourage yearly check ups and occasional more through check ups, even when someone isn’t having symptoms.

    I would advise anyone watching this to ween off of and quit coffee/caffeine as well. You'll start to dream more and remember your dreams more while getting deeper, more restful sleep. Quitting caffeine will make you dream more than quitting weed, but I strongly advise to quitting both.

      If you can’t quit caffeine completely, only consume it before 10am and none after that. This will be better for sleep.

    I would love to go rehab but I’m homeless and that is a problem for them.
    I don’t quite know why.

      Rehab doesn’t work anyway. It works while you are in it but the rate of relapse after is about 80-90%.

    When I stopped, I couldn’t sleep well for weeks. Then I started dreaming again. 30 years of weed daily

    I have heard this from a lot of professional women, they were smoking through college etc, but when they really had to perform life in the real world smoking was problematic, they were able to quit having not really been addicted, or at least not addicted more than to success or money lol.
    I would say it is impossible to compete or perform at ones best while smoking weed on a regular basis, greatly reduces memory, patience, might increase focus a little on a hyper level but if someone had to multi-task forget it, complex tasks or ones that involve dynamic thinking are seriously impeded if not completely handicapped.
    Frequent smoking in teens/young adults will drastically alter their maturation mentally, physically, and emotionally.

    I smoked for a long time, over 10 years then I quit for a long time, about 10 years. I recently found out about high CBD low THC hemp flower and I think it's great. You literally can not smoke enough to get that "too high" anxious feeling. Just a nice mild buzz without the negative effects.

    remember that its not always an addiction or even bad for you, there are ways to consume it in moderation and without burning it. it is not harmless, but its not inherintly bad either.. always keep your mind open to both sides and avoid looking at things only in positive or negative ways as this distorts the reality of matters.
    its been used as panacea for like hundreds of thousands of years, nowadays its way too strong in terms of THC, but originally it was a healing plant and not a recreational drug (wich is an abusive way to use it btw)
    ive been consuming cannabis for over 15 years now, and i got my technical assistant of nanotechnology and biochemistry.
    harmony (balance) is the way to go not demonizing

      of course if you struggle with it or have issues health or psychologically , you shouldn´t do it... and its not for everyone either id say... just its not ALWAYS a bad thing as it is often suggested

      All stoners come to realize that these excuses are lies. The more you love the plant, the less likely it will be “moderate” and if you dont love it- you wouldnt care to smoke it. So no. Its a trap. U will smoke everyday and eventually your intuition will tell you

The medicine is not to meant to be used all day every day- otherwise your declaring that you are broken and unhealed and irs a never ending cycle. Exactly all opposites of the benefit of the plant medicine will take place. Its shadow side!

    I applaud people who had an "addiction" and were able to quit ruining their lives......however, for me, at 72 y.o., I, as well as numerous seniors, have pains, complications and find that 1 or 2 hits before bedtime is very relaxing and helps with mental relaxation and sleep deprivation.....yes, laying around the house all day smoking yourself into a coma should be called abuse. I've never used smoke to COPE with life, I use it as I described because I don't like taking "chemical laced" pills to relieve pain and calm my body. I'm a successful middle of the road businessman, who raised a family, who quit drinking completely at 36 y.o. and like everything else in life believe that moderation of everything is key......

    If one smokes then one must create. Paint, run, walk, garden, play an instrument. Do not veg out in front of TV or compulsive flicking the bean.

    I lifted like a mf that forced me to eat way more than I usually do I was able to slow down after 10 years but we all fall in working towards that goal again !!! Cheers to you all I pray you succeed 🙏🏾

    I’m at the point where I just do it just to do it.. don’t even feel it anymore and I just like the euphoria. I refuse to pick up alcohol or harder stuff though

      Dr. Anna Lembke would say you likely have more gremlins on the pain side of the equation. Basically your tolerance level demands more weed just to level out sort of. You're chasing that huge Dopamine spike you got when you first started smoking that will never come. I recommend tapering off and quitting for awhile. Odds are you'll feel much better!

      That's ritual fixation. It's addiction to the habit ritual. Strong habit. No risk of dangerous withdrawals but repeated rituals make strong habits.

      ​@mr.libertyprime3389 actually you can totally get a huge dopamine spike from cannabis again if you just don't smoke for anywhere from 3-9 months.
      But I think it's wise to not abuse the stuff that way. It's good medicine probably best to save it for medicine only and not chase a high

      Wrong. Weed is a highly addictive psychotropic substance and it DOES damage your brain. How do I know this? I too had a "ritual fixation" which I am very glad that I quit. Must be an odd coincidence that basically everything got easier, and I felt way better over a month later. Took a LONG time to fully recover though. You don't know how bad that "ritual" is messing you up until you stop "fixating" on it for a while. @@ForageGardener

    I’m not anti weed, had some good times with it in the beginning but the last two years I was just doing it to do it. It was a habit I formed and it was just what I did at night every night. I was so lazy and depressed on it those last two years. My finances took a hit, gained weight, suicidal, just so many negative things. Not blaming all that on weed but it certainly wasn’t helping anything. Interesting she brought up magic mushies because that is what ended up saving me. I felt spiritual for the first time, got off weed, quit vaping, quit soda, And helped so much with PTSD flashbacks and allowed me to feel comfortable to go into therapy. It wasn’t instant but within a year all those issues I had faded away. Now working on dropping some weight. I’m sure I’d be dead right now if I hadn’t gone that route. People can judge it all they want to but I’d rather be judged and happy to be alive in the world than how I was. Off weed a year now, no desire for it at all and I’ll never go back to it. I’m sure for some mushrooms could be addictive just like anything is but I never have the overwhelming urge to do so like with weed, nicotine, and even soda. I think it depends on the individual. That was just my experience, not a PSA to go do shrooms, I researched a good year before I tried and felt comfortable with it but it’s been a huge benefit in my personal experience. I just feel good now and even recently got promoted at work, something that when I was on weed I never even imagined was possible for me.

    I've just seen this video, and today I'm 11 months clean from weed, I relate to everything said, for me my rock bottom was the turning point, I had no choice to get clean or go insane and end up in prison or nut House, I did recovery, and I have a great understanding now of my thoughts and I've turned to health and fitness, my goals now are to be as strong as I can be clean and sober from everything, I still think about weed which is kinda pointless, but I have zero physical addiction its just thoughts, funny how I found this video today, nice reminder on how far I've come, best of luck everyone , thanks
