You summarised the game pretty well… The same thing happened to Bayern though, so don’t blame Westham too much

They didn't park the bus but they built a rundown castle to be exact and collapsed beautifully.
Because it wasn't parking the bus, it was something that far exceeds it.

@@Karl.james10a tank is smaller than a bus to be fair. Parking the cruise ship more like it lol
West Ham built a fortress. A fortress that still got demolished by Leverkusen at the end of the day.

NPC take. Prem is still the best league in the world. Use your brain for once please. West Ham is 7th in the Prem facing probably the best team in Europe right now. Combined with the fact that West Ham always park the bus and are second last in the Prem in terms of possession. Of course the stats aren't shocking. You NPC. Prem has the best team (Man CIty) and is the most competitive league, with lots of quality. Quality + Overall league competitiveness determines how good a league is. Prem is the best.

@@XBarajasXyeah, just get your hopes up 😂. Yes, Leverkusen „struggled „ in a couple of games this season because they had trouble to convert their chances. But they got even better throughout the season. They are relentless, unfazed and confident no matter what happens. They could have finished this game down by a goal and my money would still be on them to go to the next round. Also, comparing Leverkusen to Freiburg is futile. It’s like comparing Real to Crystal Palace.

That was like a training session for Leverkusen
Actually no, WestHam could have scored on a fastbreak and Bayer as usual tends to score on the lasts minutes. A strong concentrated defense until the end could have been enough
That was a training session … they where never in danger and they also played like in 2nd gear. Saw them was more scarier this year
@@XBarajasX Well, could have, would have. Of course West Ham "could have" scored. Of course they "could have" gone home with clean sheets. All kinds of things "could" happen. But West Ham had one single shot on goal for 90 minutes where Bayer had 33, and for the rest Moyes stuffed eleven men into their own box. I can't remember the last time I've seen a team starting time play in the 16th minute. But Leverkusen know how to wear a thick defense down, they've been doing it all season.
@@johnjim6793exactly, it was just an average working day for Leverkusen. The game looked pretty much like most of their games. They are relentless and eventually every defense starts cracking to their pressure.
@@TheHesseJames That's true, it was very similiar to the last weeks' matches. This has in part been due to the calendar. In the last seven or eight weeks or so Bayer has mainly met middle-class teams who positioned themselves deep in defense. You can't blame them for that. But I expect it to be different in the coming weeks against West Ham, Dortmund and Stuttgart. Could be highly entertaining matches when the other side actually tries to explore if there is a goal on the other end of the pitch. :-)
The second game will be brutal, now they have to give Leverkusen space. And Leverkusen on the counter is a whole different animal. 5:0
Not sure about 5:0 unless Leverkusen are crowned champions on Sunday and travel to London in party mode. :-) If they take a lead like 2:0 or something, I suspect Xabi Alonso will rest his key players because the following match they will have to travel to Dortmund, and they will certainly want to preserve their unbeaten run. But let's not get over our heads, West Ham were a tough nut to crack yesterday and now they have nothing to lose any more. Leverkusen will have to stay focused.
@@johnjim6793 I dont think Xabi values the unbeaten run over the europa league. My prediction is that he will rotate only a little.
@@gletscherminze9372 No, he certainly values the Europa League more. But in case they take a lead like 2-0 in the return match at London (just for argument's case) there would be little to no sense in going for a 5-0. It would be better to take off some of his key players to give them a little rest. If they win at West Ham, a high victory is of no more use than a narrow one. So way waste energy for it? Anyway, let's not underestimate the Hammers.
I love how the title of the video makes it look like it was an even match, that was sport slaughter.

Bayer leverkusen plays like a world class team, they are a world class team maybe the best in the world this season no doubt, but it's the way they play like they've been there before already.
Yeah man. Makes you want to cheer for them regardless of whom they are playing. I am a Madrid fan and if they play us gotta say I may cheer for Leverkusen.😂😂😂
The best thing is that Alonso stays, Wirtz as well. I hope they don't lose too much key players and we get to see what they can do in the CL. Usually when teams like Leverkusen rise from the bottom all the top teams just tear them apart on the transfer market.
Where did west ham cause Leverkusen problems? Utter nonsense
If it wasn't for Fabianski it could've been 6 or 7 nil. Still 2 down going into the 2nd leg they will have to play more open and that will make it even harder for West Ham.

If Real Madrid does not buy the referee, like they did so many times (e.g. Juventus, Bayern, Dortmund, Gladbach (already back in 70s) and many many more) any top team can butcher them. I still remember HSV 5 - RM 1. Referee Madrid has won many titles this way, it's a shame.
idk man, maybe u are overrating them a bit here, personally I think west ham can defeat them in their home ground next week, and no I'm not a pl fanboy, I'm a Bundesliga follower myself but u are forgetting that anything is possible in football and it's their first proper season under Alonso, it can go very wrong once they face those big teams.
It's so unfortunate that they didn't qualify for the CL last year. They're an historic team. It's honestly incredible. Hopefully they can stay together and show their quality again against the biggest teams in europe next year.
Or even get stronger, a lot of transfers this season came just because of Alonso and the way he explained their role in his vision for the 2023/24 campaign. Xhaka spoke publicly about that. Cannot wait who will join them.
@@DIN_A8 Yeah maybe, they seem to do a great job in keeping the core players so far!
What kind of analysis is this?? Leverkusen destroyed West Ham for 90 MINUTES! That was the game, talk about it.
I think Leverkusen will absolutely molest them in the 2nd leg. The only reason why this wasn't a 7-0 is because West Ham held on to dear life, look at those stats!
In the 2nd leg they will have to open up and they will get absolutely torn apart.
The game looked like the national team of Gibraltar vs france.... One without any chance or shoots on the target, one absolutely dominant
Nice to see Steve not asked to comment on Leverkusen. Leverkusen is simply awesome with their low budget squad in 3 different league and surely they are better than Premier League surprisers Leicester
"kind of parking the bus" LMAO it's 100% parking the bus
This is really an uphill battle for West Ham. Not only have Leverkusen not lost for 42 matches - might be 43 by Sunday -, they also have by far the best defense in Germany. No team has been able to score 3 goals against them all season, which is obviously bad news when you have to come back from two goals down. Adding the fact that they might travel to London as freshly crowned German champions and that they tend to enjoy themselves with teams that have to open up, one can see that West Ham have the proverbial mountain to climb. Having said that, one must never underestimate an English side. If they slot in an early goal, who knows what can happen.
