Uncut Onyx can be achieved from a few different bosses and methods as well, so the item itself is still very obtainable but getting it via gem bags is what is so rare.
I was surprised not to see the Sword of a Thousand Truths in the World of Warcraft spot... That weapon was locked away on a flash drive!
You can't give the Sword of a Thousand Truths to a noob!
Talisman of Binding Shard is the most rare.. gameranx dunno jack shit.

lol j/k, Thanks for the times!
You forget to mention it’s impossible to unlock Starfields fun mode
I could swear to God that you haven't even played it and you just be copying people's opinions to get some attention and likes
@@osamanabil6643Nah he's pretty accurate. It's basically a glorified load screen simulator. I put in over 100 hours and I'm still disappointed about how empty and lifeless the world felt. 🤷
Hush child!
To be fair to bethesda, they might make it dlc
😂
I dont think developers put any real thought in just how tough their drop chance percentages actually are...they just throw a number in there and think "yeah that seems pretty low but doable"
Yeah, has to be
Oh for sure. It’s becoming more apparent than ever that most devs don’t even play their own games.
Which I can understand I suppose. I mean you work on the game for a living, all day, which makes me imagine their drive to play is minimal at best
"It's rare so people want it".
That's one universal truth right there.
Wow. That PSO footage takes me WAY back.
Not sure if the onyx for OSRS counts since you can get it pretty commonly from many sources. Sure the gem bag method is mega rare but that doesn’t make it an item that people “never unlock”
The point of that entry is specifically getting it from the gem bag, he’s not counting any of the other methods (like if it were terraria calamity he’d only be counting getting the rod of discord from a chaos elemental and not buying it from the wizard in the hallow.
"1 Million Times the Total Age of the Universe"
is Unfathomable lmfao 😂
1 million times the age of the universe would give you less than a 0.000000000000001% chance to get 40 onyxes from a gem bag
@@Channel-io4xu😭😭😭😭 . That's insanity
Oh shoot. That bag was that rare? I thought it was trash loot. New player luck lol
I was today years old when I learned that I had a Zod rune in D2 and had absolutely no idea how rare it was
It's rarity is slightly overstated because you have a lot of items drop. I have found 4 in total across
3:02 Wait, the Axe was that rare?! My goodness, I was such a noob back in WotLK, I could have sold that on the Auction house for more than enough gold to purchase my riding skill, yet instead I had it vendored for a couple gold thinking I was rich! >_
Damn, thats like selling a Van Gogh for 5 dollars on a garage sale
Golden Guns in Army of 2
I wish they would either remake or make a new army of 2, that was such a unique game🤟
I wished they add them all to the store as a backwards compatibility game.
This is the only game me and my dad enjoyed playing together
This is why I like mods. Games are supposed to be enjoyable and not a waste of ridiculous volumes of lifetime by way too many individuals, over some pixels.
I agree. It's like trophies in video games. They're designed to make you play a game longer than necessary because devs feed off of people's narcissism. Look how many platinums I have. It's always a look at me type of thing.
@@emilybaxterthecartoonywitc1805 I agree... I used to be some sort of a trophy hunter and there really are lots of people that don't care about enjoying the game at all, they just want the platinum; they don't even go for the 100% 🤦
I still care about completion, but it's more like a chore than a challenge for most games nowadays
I'll watch the list first. But I agree on both sides. I actually like this hard rare unlock if they are not mandatory, because then the dopamine rush that hits you is incredible.
On the other side, if something is mandatory/required and has that low of a drop rate, then they can f off.
Feebas from gen 3? It's only available in a small number of random water tiles on a long river and waterfall. Oh, and even on the right spot its odds are low enough you might miss it anyways.
50 percent on 4 tiles isn't awful...
Not even close to the entries on this list. Hell I got Feebas after only two days of trying.
Getting it to evolve into milotic was just as hard tho🤣
It's doable, I got it which means its extra doable.
those 4 tiles are random though, there's no way to tell if it's the right tile either, it's a complete guessing game
I just finished a Final Fantasy game and watched this video to calm down and it has two Final Fantasy games in the first four entries... I mean, it's not surprising. Final Fantasy has always been great in making things ridiculously rare and / or grindy. And as with all of the things in this video, you can shrug or laugh about it because they are not necessary at all.
Also, the jokes in this video were HILARIOUS. :D Great one.
I love the random stats of how I could die sprinkled throughout this.
It reminds me of that chaos theory? Like the calculation of an unbound book being thrown in the air lands perfectly in order in a stack.
When I saw the title I didn't think it would be on this list, but Final Fantasy 11's Excalibur sword is up there. Thank you Gameranx.
FYI, there's many other weapons and items in that game that have chances to obtain that are so low, it's damn demoralising 😂
One guy was casually trying to sell a crate-o-matic in swtor a few months back in fleet chat, only for the steep price of 10 billion credits. No surprize it didnt sell but still. If you do manage to get one it's worth it's weight in gold if only for the rarity.
When SWTOR 6.0 Legacy of the Sith came out the drop rate for the Czerka Crate-O-Matic had seemed to change. I actually have it now.
Oh did it? That’s awesome!! :D
@@gameranxTV They even added Czerka Prototype C8-0-M4T.
In old school Runescape you can get onyx by trading tokkul, which can be grinded slowly pretty AFk, or you have to beat jad which was Runescapes hardest boss for a long time.
Here I though grinding out Legendary gear in kingdom hearts was bad but this list blows it outta the water
Grinding out 2 and 3 wasn't that bad. One was a bitch to get the ultima key blade
This reminded me of @Ki11ersix grinding for the 94% sham.
I never looked up drop rates for Czerka-crate-o'matic in SWTOR, but I knew it was really rare. I am doubting that 1 in billion chance though, as there were plenty of them back in the day sold in games own market. I found one myself in 2017, I still remember the exact mob it dropped from. Got the achievement too.
I think the difference is the crate-o'matic "billion" encompasses several different things. You could get it from mobs, treasure hunting and a few others. So the original 1 in a billion was based on 2 people finding it in 2 billion loot checks, which is still rare, but is more common than it sounds because a single perso could easily get 500+ loot checks in an hour of gaming.
So if a server had an average of 500 active people all day long (not the same ones, but consistently 500 players), you'd expect one to drop every 23 weeks on that server.
Gotta say I quite enjoyed the random statistics between entries here.
I had a Zod Rune. I never knew it was so rare. I wasted it on a sword during my first run on normal difficulty.
They don't drop in normal difficulty.
@@Shreepsy I wonder if if it was part of the stuff my neighbor gave me. He'd been playing it since it released and convinced me to buy the battlechest.
Keep on hoping for them to include Falconry in the Olympics, you might get that medal one day.
haha maybe one day. Fingers are crossed!
Love the bonus, 1 in 2.5M to the 40th power. OSRS players you now have a goal..
Good luck!!! :D
Pretty sure the Crate-O-Matic drop rate was raised at some point. Yes, it's rare, It's just not THAT rare lol. I knew of two seperate people who had it. You could even trade it, use it to get the achievement and trade it again.
This was actually pretty funny! Narrator did great job!
Getting an Angeling card in Ragnarok Online is probably the rarest thing I ever got in a game (0.01% drop rate from a boss that only spawns in a handful of places and only once every 60-90 minutes)
In Ragnarok Online, most Monster Cards had a 0.01 chance of dropping, including bosses that required an hell of a quest/group to defeat.
One of my favourite gaming channels ❤❤❤
"NEVER UNLOCKED..." Right off the bat, I had 4 Seitengrat bows.
Excaliber being level 70 while cap is 50 is another joke, saying you're not worthy, if you were to try pulling from the stone it wouldnt budge. Brilliant!
@@kendallcochran8262 more advice
Yeah what a troll move lol!!
The sheer amount of monsters I had to hunt to get that
Back in the day it was fun, but I can’t imagine doing it now
gotta love falcon, you enjoy some gaming trivia while learning your chances of d*ing by random things
I could never unlock all the upgrades in that 2005 Punisher game. Still bugs me sometimes...
My luck is so bad, when i see the odds of getting something i multiply it by 250% that usually tells me how long it will take to get it. it's pretty accurate. for me at least
Man so many fond memories of playing old school runescape with my siblings. We only had one computer at home between 4 kids so most days we went to the local library so we could all play together i vividly remember geting my character dem n slayer from the beginning lvl 3 all the way to lvl 68 and this took my at least 2 years of playing in my free time in middle school
God, the PSO reference brought back bad memories. Those sorcerers were the worst.
"Why is it so hard to get it? Idk, it's rare, people want it."
Sums up the whole list lol
it may be nitpicking, but research a little more some of this stuff.. D2's Zod Rune - no one used it to make things indestructible lol (i know some ethereal items with it can be good) but 99% of time it was used for some broken runewords Breath of the Dying and Obsession or simply traded because it was so rare.
Perfect hide was that rare? Damn, me and my buds were lucky af. I should've bought a lottery ticket.
IDK what you are talking about man, I did a quick calculation for all of these and it came out to a 50/50 chance every time. Either you get the drop or you dont on all of them. You're welcome.
Every Gameranx list is just 50% Final Fantasy, isn't it
Glad to see FFXI get some love
Another interesting video. Keep up the great videos.
I've never even heard of the hide of Terramorphous until now and I thought I knew everything about Borderlands 2......
Not sure if the chances have changed in resurrected, but I did end up finding a Zod rune. The reason people want it is not because it makes things indestructible, but because it is used in some OP runewords.
I tried getting that bow for a few hours. If you have the switch version just play the bonus dungeons until u pop off. It takes like an hour it’s worth it
LFG!!! An Old School RuneScape clip!! lol Yes, although the Uncut Onyx from a gem bag is a 1/100,000,000 chance, there are bosses that drop it at like a 1/3000 rate luckily!
I never wanna spend my time trying to unlock something super rare, that’s why I was pissed off with Arkham Knight’s Riddler’s riddles 😤
If I remember correctly, something like 213 riddler’s trophies to be found. Less than 50 of them can be found throughout the main campaign, and it’s awful to search for the trophies with unhelpful tips and the dark setting.
Yeah I actually found the trophies and the secret ending wasn’t worth it smdh not gonna lie I used a guide got tired of looking for them but in every other Arkham game I found them all even origins so felt obligated to smdh
You got more chances of meeting aliens, in real life than getting some of these items lol 😂
The day a Falcon wins an Olympic gold medal is the day that humanity will have jumped that one shark equipped with laser beams.
LOL one day! But not anytime soon.
I found a Zod rune in d2r but that’s pretty much the culmination of 20 years hunting
“You got a better chance of being eaten by a shark, being killed by falling furniture, and winning the lottery at the same time”. Idk why I thought this was so funny 😂
I remember some guy got the rune of Zod during a speedrun stream, and just sold it right away, last year or so
Got the shield from Terramorphous a long time ago. Still playing Borderland 2 with some friends.
I know developers probably do that for replay ability, but 1 in 1 and 103 0’s is a little absurd. At that point they shouldn’t even bother putting it in the game and just leave it to the single gem per bag.
What's the game in the thumbnail??
I think that world of warcraft.
As SgtStrawhead mentioned, It is a screenshot of a cinematic from World of Warcraft. Search WoW the war within cinematic.
@@mattplaine4670 cheers!! I remember it being from World of Warcraft somewhere!!
@SgtStrawhead no problem man 👌
Regarding Excalibur from FFXI...............depending on which of the Arhturian legends you read the sword was returned to the Lady of the Lake, so getting it by fishing isn't that far fetched.
LoL, fun episode Falcon. I needed a good laugh today.
I figured Poo's Sword of Kings from Earthbound would be here, but its drop rate was 1/128. It just sucked that it was the only weapon Poo could equip.
It feels soooo good when you get a super rare drop though. I kinda miss them. People get mad about them. I'd rather just not be so addicted and obssessive that I feel i MUST have something, and just enjoy the idea that it might drop at some point and that it would be crazy.
Ppl have brains that prefer actual fun that is relatively accessible to many ppl, rather than stuff that was created for some lucky fool who may not even be aware or invested or able to use it. I don't know what is supposed to feel good about pulling jealousy and risks of account hacking either, frankly. Like, how "special" do you need, to feel joy and why is enjoying common stuff together not the same degree of fun just by "having one now, too"?
I can’t believe this list started with 1% drop rates then got astronomically worse. Lol
Thank you for the existential crisis :) Always appreciate that stuff
This video should be called "10 times the devs wanted to be petty and succeeded".
The RNG manipulation does work for getting the bow in FFXII while playing on Switch. A friend of mine got it that way
Out of all these I grinded for that shield and got it. God bl2 takes me back
@4:14 FFXI was before my time but when i did play the game for like a year i heard of people spending IRL money on getting that sword. Then shortly getting banned for breaking TOS rules
🙃
Oh the hours, days, months, years I've grinded in World of Warcraft for rare items. Some I've gotten others not.
One that could have been on this list is a perfect Hide Of Terramorphus in Borderlands 2.
Falcon is sounding like Kenny from South Park but I can understand him
I was expecting a foam finger and I got OSRS. Not disappointed.
My brother has all the monster hunter games and beat them all 100% and still plays them all the time
Rarest thing I ever found in a video game was Deathcharger's Reins in WoW. 0.9% chance of it dropping. I farmed Stratholme as a Hunter, solo, for about a week and a half.
Curious to see the Zod rune in the list, when I was playing d2, I was very young, and for me the most impossible rare thing to get (in my head, no maths involved) was the Anihilus.
haha yeah some of these items are incredibly rare!
I always wonder where Gameranx got all these crazy lists.. You are the best.. to bring up all these unknown things about games. ❤
A 1 with a hundred zeros is called a Google so 312 zeros would be over three googles. A 1 with a Google zeros behind it is called a Googleplex.
How do we confirm some of those people found these items? Like the Star wars Old Republic gimmick item?
Oh, I thought you were talking about "gym bags."
Yea. Screw trying to unlock any of this. I didn’t even make it to Biggoron’s sword
Seeing FFXI pop up all these years later after it destroyed my life makes me happy.
Do you have the itch to go back and play it again?
@@gameranxTV I have went back a couple times but most recently was during the pandemic. The game is just so relaxing to me and I can navigate the world with my eyes closed.
This game was so addictive that I dropped out of school and would fall asleep with the controller in my hand, wake up, and just continue playing, never leaving the room or my chair. It was a very dark couple years of my life that I wish I could restart.
I hate feeling like I've had an uncut onyx on my old Runescape account but that profile is gone so I can't confirm heh
If your doing mission always have it but youre farming on exploration in monster hunter you might not even have it spawn that run.
FFXIV AND PSO references, this video was made for me
FFXI is still kicking. I recently had to do the "Lilith" rematch fight 320 times to get even one piece of the "Malignance" armor she's supposed to drop (there are five pieces of the armor set) 😢😢😢😢
For additional context: The cost to do the rematch fight is 10 merit points. Each merit point costs 10,000 limit points, which you start to earn after reaching the maximum level. So, each fight is 100,000 limit points and I fought her 320 times for one piece of armor. That's 32 million exp 😫
For me, It was trying to get the BIS Druid Bear tank Trinket, the "Badge of Tenacity" in Blades Edge.
I spent 5-6 Hours a day for 3 months trying to get that f*****r to drop. Even Alliance players would come and visit me, emoting to ask how it was going!
I eventually had to quit playing for my sanity and the risk to my actual marriage, I was that obsessed.
But if you needed the best Bear you could get (I think it was almost essential for Gruuls Lair), then you needed that item.
WIth full raid buffs, food and procs, I could temporarily get my armor above 80 thousand, for all that there was no need to do so, but
it was tenacious and so was I.
Sods law, I came back to WoW 8 years later, and tried a Druid again, the sodding thing dropped in the first half an hour.
I cried.
THe 40 Onyx ... Can't remember where I got this, but I think that there's a better change of a random high-energy particle emission corrupting your computers memory and transmuting into that bag, then it dropping...
As a dev myself, I get the fun of such things, but as a (albeit self-inflicted) victim or such obsession, I worry that it hurts people far more than any joy it brings...
FF12 Zodiac Age. PS4, spent 3 hours running up and down the staircase for the zodiac spear before I got it.
Got it again on xbox one, set myself up with energy drinks and music and snacks to grind for the spear......1st time down the staircase the invisible chest spawned, zodiac spear 😅. RNG is rollercoaster.
"Just in case aliens wanna play too"
Does anyone know the game with the giant sword in the background?
Last one: that's a billion, not 100 million.
One thing that struck me (pun intended) is nothing to do with the game items but the fact you're more likely to get struck by lightning than die in a tornado. Considering the number of fatal tornado outbreaks.
And I thought shiny hunting in Pokemon was a grind... lol
Me just hearing that the uncut onyx being extremely rare and here I am thinking on my old account that I got two of them in my first gem bag
Over 15yrs ago I played FFXI and it's the only MMO I raid grinded hardcore, peak endgame (6hr+ Kirin fights n whatnot), and a couple people in my dynamis linkshell had their classes relic weapon gained the way your ment to. Literal years of coin and other material collecting. One of them being Excalibur. I remember when our tank got his sword and used the weapon skill attached to the sword for the first time we as a collective whole were somewhat disapointed with it lol. Low damage and not very flashy. If you wanted your classes final weapon skill back when the lvlcap was 75 you had to get your relic weapon which back then they took years running dymanis 3 times a week to gain the materials, unless people helped you by giving you the materials they gained. I still consider my time on FFXI to be the most memorable MMO experience, esspecially when it was at its peak in the mid-late 2000s. Even though you had a 1/20000 chance from fishing to get it at that time, getting it the correct way was no small feat. My dynamis had 3 maybe 4 people who had their relic weapon and there were less than 10 on the hole server including the JP players.
I love how I fluked into getting the Seitengrat without even realising it was that rare until afterwards 🤣
Haha very nice! :)
I've gotten perfect Terra hide and that's it and it definitely was an extremely lucky drop because I was just farming Terra for no reason.
I always wanted to get the Foam Handcanon in Dead Space 2 but it's completely impossible for me to do.
What do you have to do to get it?
pls i dont want to ever think about the runes from D2 ever again
I tried to fish for that sword lol The level cap was 70 when I tried
You should’ve had Orlando smiths hat from RuneScape 3 on this list. That shits insane. It’s like 1 in 10,000 to hit the drop table and then like 1 in 100,000 to get the hat or something like that. And you can only hit those tables with teir 4 luck.
Is that more rare than the party hat? Sorry if I didn’t explain it right but I know there is a party hat in the game that people have spent a lot of real world money. TIA
