  • GetOutside is on a North Island of New Zealand road trip, join us on Day 1 hitting the Bridge to Nowhere. The bridge built for farmers only ever had a couple of vehicles cross it as by the time the bridge was completed the farmers had abandoned the land.

    Another great ride for you. Glad you included the river boat ride. Very special. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for visiting our part of the world. (And yes - that lovely orange mesh is morphing into less obvious stainless steel wire barriers as we work hard to keep the track open and fun).

      Oh good to hear the orange mesh is down to be replaced. Thanks for your work on the trail, there's some special scenery and of course history there. It does look like you wont ever run out of work with maintenance and the odd improvement.
      We had a great day out there and the campground in Raetihi was buzzing with canoe adventurers.
      Raetihi township looked to be suffering a bit and it left us a bit sad.

    It's now so much easier and wider than in the early 2000's so thinks for your great video, I'm planning a Gravel Bike day ride.

    Beautiful place to ride - thank you for sharing. I hope to get there one day. Just a tip for pan shots; turn the EIS off when doing these shots and the image stutter should disappear.

      Wicked tip thanks, yep makes sense. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes. I've got about 6 more videos filmed and not posted so I wont have it corrected for those.
      Thanks for watching and for the panning tip.

    This looks great, thanks for the video! Could a beginner on a basic "mountain" bike handle this ride?

    • @getoutside519
      @getoutside519  Před 3 lety

      Hi Aaron, yep I think a basic mountain bike could handle this. I've seen a few comments that the gravel bike guys ride this trail....which are just road bikes with slightly grippier tires.
      Hope you get to give it a nudge and have a great adventure.
