    Great vid guys. Appreciate the effort you make in the production, especially both of you being mic'd up.

    Thanks for this great video - it inspired me to visit Queenstown, and I did this trail last week. Awesome scenery, so glad that I did it, it's a great back-country trail. Highs - well, the scenery, the flow the sense of achievement for finishing a great ride. The lows - well, there's essentially no shade for 95% of it, and those climbs are long in full sun. Take some chain lube, all those water crossings and dusty climbs had my chain dry and crunchy by the time I got to Arrowtown. Oh, and Macetown road is a pretty disappointing trail to end to such an epic ride

      Top job , we'll done. Yes i can only imagine how hot and dry it is at this time of year. I may well have edited out some moaning about macetown rd.

    Thanks for a great trip! Used to live in Queenstown, tramped all the local tracks. Just turned 78, sadly those days over, but your films bring back wonderful memories. Please keep Getting Outside! Jim C.

      Oh hey Jim, thanks for the nice words. I do have a couple more to edit and post from around here so keep an eye out and you will probably see your old stomping grounds. G

    Longtime subscriber here! I love all of your videos and you guys are definitely inspiring me to get out and do more XC style rides rather than park and dh stuff! This trail looks awesome!

      Cheers for the shoutout, really happy to hear that we can provide some trail ideas and or motivation.
      If your into park and downhill you may have to watch us descend on fast forward.

    That ‘hawk’ with the rabbit is actually the NZ falcon - smaller and faster than a hawk

      I was going to make the same comment. We have falcons where I live. They are totally awesome.

      Hey Luke, thanks for the shout out and letting us know the mics are adding something. Yep Suz is the brains behind the outfit so I like getting her to yak on the vids.

      Hey Don, oh this would be a great adventure on an ebike especially one as nice as the rail. It will be close battery wise so keep an eye on it.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. G

    This is such a great video of a stunning ride. Thanks for sharing! I was doing some research into the track and your footage and commentary have helped a lot.
    I don't think I'm skilled enough for the Grade 4 section (which I believe starts at around the 5 min mark in your video), so I was planning on doing the Skippers Pack Track or Skippers Road detour. As far as I can tell, that should rejoin the loop trail somewhere near Greengates Hut (12 min). I was wondering if you could confirm whether this is true, and whether there is any signage for the detour? Thanks so much.

    • @getoutside519
      @getoutside519  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi, yes I'm sure you can go down skippers road which is also stunning then at the bottom lookout for a turn right and climb back up the pack track a bit to the turn.
      Unsure if it's marked at the bottom of skippers road as I'm not a local. I would imagine it wouldn't be that hard to find if you can get trailforks map or similar.
      Hope that helps and you have an amazing ride out there....it is stunning and very rewarding. You'll probably sleep very well after doing it. G

    Awesome video guys! great camera work and commentary. appreciate the raw honesty of the trip. what bikes do you ride and why? If you don't mind me asking what is the age group? have riden this a few times now, have to say this is my weekly ride at present...but as we are coming i to winter I think this is not a winter ride, mainly due to the winter temperatures and the freezing water conditions. I am interested at what your history is with adventure or multisport competitions is. please keep up the videos they are really well done and would love to ride with you both on an upcoming adventure.

    • @getoutside519
      @getoutside519  Před 2 lety

      Oh hey Jeff, thanks for watching and commenting. You obviously live in a great place with this at your doorstep. Great point about the winter riding hopefully folks will consider this before heading out.
      We try to show the trails and get people motivated to go explore rather than highlight us or pretend were super talented or interesting.
      In this video I'm on my Orbea Oiz and suz on her specialized epic. G

    Another Awesome vid G (Old relic lol) &S....Once again conveying what it is to ride a trail (Incl the tips at 24:30)...wonderful scenery and also being double mic'd was a great addition/dual perspective (CZcamsr BKXC comes to mind)
    You're my MTB tour guides as I'll be back sth this Xmas/New Year and will ride this for sure!
    Also Pike 29 ...finally open by Xmas!!
    PS....Did you deem your Hot Rod footage not worthy of uploading?...Don't want to rely on my own crappy footage from last year lol..
    PPS Those tanwalls look Awesome on that Orbea colour scheme.

    • @getoutside519
      @getoutside519  Před 2 lety

      Chris how are you ? Great to hear your coming back down this way, we should organize an outing. Pike 29 you say ooooooh. I will have a look at the logistics for that and see how it could work.
      You even spotted the tanwalls ..great eye.
      Oh my hot rod footage was terrible...had the camera pointing down too much and didn't do the trail justice. Not that my riding can do the trail justice either. watched the perfect lines video on this trail - that's whole different game.
      We've had the twin mic setup over a year and this is the first video I've posted using it...seemed to work ok and only slightly longer to edit. Promise I didn't steal it off bkxc. I did see he's using the lens mod on gopro 9 still. mmmm not a fan of that personally the gp10 is better and the lens mod squishes other riders and landscape.
      Cheers again for singing out and lets see if I get another video edited before xmas... only about 10 to do.

      @@getoutside519 Cheers G&S...2/10 vids in a week??...Are you sick?..I've spent the last week at home recovering from Covid 😷 so have managed to "catch up on a few things" myself.
      Love the 2 mic setup and certainly not implying that you "stole"it from BKXC..FWIW I much prefer your vids as they are so much more relevant to me and IMO your video settings are spot on.
      You know a new dh trail is being cut to connect Rude Rock to Hot Rod,so no more 2 way Water race and supposed to be open by Xmas...yee haa
      Also Pike 29 ready by Xmas...No acknowledgement on the DOC website yet,but I read it on Stuff.co.nz a month or two back
      Cheers,Chris

      @@chrisreid3907 Well well, I'll just have to go back again then...damn it. Sorry to hear about Covid hope it wasn't too rough and nothing hangs around afterwards.
