In the game of Dungeons and Dragons, one of the most POPULAR SPELLS a WIZARD must have is FIREBALL! But why is that? How was FIREBALL INVENTED and why is FIREBALL THE BEST SPELL IN D&D??

But who has space for something like this? 🥲 We barely have chairs for everyone at our DnD sessions... 🙃 (I had to sit on a tiny children chair at our last session, because I'm the smallest... Was kinda fitting with me playing a halfling but still... 😂)
I would just like to say that the wizard's spellbook he uses is the same as the DM notebook I use, lol.
Lemme tell you this, touch screen table is not patentable. Because it's just 800$ to 1550$ Interactive Whiteboard laid on it side, I hope it's really good table.
"I cast Fireball!"
"Wait! You can't!"
"Why. is the room too small? Am I out of reagents?"
"No, they got a Game Theory table, send in the Rogue first."
Paladin: "A Game Theory table, you say? Well, in that case; I didn't see the Rogue break in this time around."
@@melaniescribbles me being a wizard:
Yes we do use this spell,
No I did not kill the rogue
Yes He’s behind you stealing your sword
No I have not seen your cat
Yes I have him trapped in my house I mean uh uh uh uh 😅
Or a martial class with a shield and shield master
Do DnD players hate game theory?
No worries. Game Theory tables are the only things completely immune to ALL spells, EVEN fireball. Casting!
Violence is never the answer.
It is the question.
The answer is fireball.
For a second i thought MatPat sponsored him

there are two visualizations for what fireball looks like when cast
one is throwing a small orb that rapidly expands into a much bigger ball upon impact with a surface
the other is looking at a spot, waving your hand/ pointing and then yelling at it, and having it spontaneously detonate with no other warning
In PF1E, it was explicitly a small bead of energy that would shoot out of your finger to wherever you were pointing, then explode.
This feels like Ryan George, but for DnD, and I'm all for it.
Also, your costumes are pretty great. This is entirely unrelated, I just think they're neat.
Wow wow wow….wow
Dm: so how would you like to kill this boss?
Player: I'm thinking about doing a back flip, snapping the bad guys neck, and saving the day
Casting fireball is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Imagine a collab XD @@OneShotQuesters
Oh my God! Yes! 😂 I was trying to think of who it was! 😂
The size of the room is irrelevant and life is temporary but fireball is now
Imagine if he got 1 copper per every casting of fireball, he'd become the richest being in the entire universe.
He's also probably dead without heirs
Ah yes, Firebolt and Fireball. No one ever mixed those two up or misheard them as the other for sure.
Making a sketch that’s a homage to another CZcams series is TIGHT!😁
Wow wow wow wow
Yeah, was that a reference to XP to Level 3?
You would think knowing the reference would be super easy, barely an inconvinience.
@@Kiwi_bird_8Oh really?
@@Kiwi_bird_8 I'm going to need you to get all the way off my back for not getting the reference.
The thing that people forget about fireballlnis that it is a 20 foot RADIUS that means 40 Feet across. that is nearly an entire a4 map
As a necromancer I shall invent a spell of my own. I am thinking a 20 foot ball of skeletons-
Bone shrapnel.
Funny enough, there's something like that.
Directly from Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (and also icewind dale) there's Skull Trap, which is basically fireball but in a skull that explodes dealing magical damage
Skele-ball!
It weighs a skele-TON and does 8d6 bludgeoning damage, plus 1d4 psychic damage whenever a player starts their turn in the massive pile of bones, as the thought of becoming part of pile consumes their mind!
I ran from that thing in Dark Souls 3.
One idea I have for a campaign is taking a shot of Fireball every time someone casts it
1) buy stock in fireball first
2) make sure your DM'ing and its at your house so you dont need to drive after the session
And now imagine a large portion of your party goes with spellcasters, how quickly do you fall into a coma ?
(Never heard of Fireball, so no idea how strong a shot of that is).
@@themarc7108 it burns :P Cinnamon Whiskey sooo yummy and decent strength. full party of spell casters using fireballs and the like ya... coma fast
It's a 40 ft sphere, with a 20 ft radius. It's massive
The spark that created the fireball
The spell with the definition and IS the definition of "Danger Close".
The only way this could have been better is if Ad-Barian and the Ad-Stronaut had a collab for the sponsor at the end.
The second half of this felt like a Ryan George bit and I love that
The sponsor video drained my bank account just looking at it
Currently running as a Evocation Wizard and I truly do not care how big the room is or if the Fighters, Cleric or myself are in it I am going to fireball you into the oblivion and once I will have level for Metamagic Feat, oh you know it is going to be Silent but Deadly Fireball, and even Thunderball, Frostball, Acidball, Lightningball and Poisonball! (If DM allows Transmuted Spell)
"Somebody, stop me!"
Casting fireball is TIGHT!!!
Probably one of my favorite quotes "Put that on a shirt"
Ngl I was expecting Wizard to die of 1d4 New Idea damage at the end
Clearly he was under the influence of Bardic Inspiration.
Clearly not The Wizard
I suck at casting Fireball apparently. I've only ever cast it three times and two of them were to make the alchemical lab we ransacked look like it had blown up in an accident. This is despite having on hand all the time.
You're not the only one.
My Archfey Warlock on Level 2 (so yes, he definitely didn't even have access to the spell... in two ways) managed to cause a fireball by igniting a mushroom spore cloud... In a tunnel... Almost killing himself.
But it was effective!
I'm pretty much done with the spell since and I never even had it equipped with any characters yet. The DM had fun though!
He forgot to say “welcome to the sketch after the sketch”😂
It's 40 feet wide. That's 268,000 ft³
You're not blowing up a room, you're blowing up a house.
Ok so... need that Tshirt now.
2:36 Why didn't Matpat tell us they were making DND gaming tables? He's usually not shy about announcing Game Theory merch drops.
This should be a whole series!
"Alrighty then"
- Everybody shortly before something terrible happens
For fireball!
And for our beach episode!
This is giving Ryan George energy, and I LOVE it
I like the sponsor but that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY!!!
The first person to ever use fireball was a wild magic sorcerer
Huge diagonal touch screen could be the future of video games no joke🤔Vertical screen requires ur back to stay up all the time, flat one keeps ur head down all the time,so both of them can cause more fatigue. But a diagonal touch screen w/ a high quality pc feels right🤔🤔🤔🤔
Halfway through this became a Ryan George sketch
This wizard and the XP to Lvl 3 wizard should do a crossover
I've thought I was a lawful neutral type player until I decided to hammer a piton into a bad guy's unmentionables
Wasn't there a video that was about how a wizard could only cast fireball and when the dm checked in he was shouting "I cast Fireball as a cantrip"
I remember seeing one but can't find it.
I literally have a shirt that says. " I didn't ask how big the room was I said I cast firball." Lmao😂
Ryan George's comedic style but with DnD.
Well since he invented fireball he can now open a magic school where he teaches it and since it's so good everyone will want to learn it and he can charge for tuition not only wizards but also sorcerers and bards and then he can start to optimize it and make it more powerful and efficient
“Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds”
Fireball has a 20 foot radius not diameter. That means its a 40 foot spell because a radius is only half the size of the sphere That wizard died every time.
Well, if you cast it 20 feet away like he said, it actually still works out
@@AZDfoxbetter be about 22 feet away or so just in case or your casting arm will still be within the blast radius since the blast radius extends out from the center of the blast to exactly where you are if you are exactly 20 feet away but your arm will be within that radius since it extends outwards towards that center from where you are by the length of your arm….
Casting fireball is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Ah, Fireball. Nothing says D&D classis like that. And maybe Magic Missile.
Also, that touchscreen table looks pretty sweet.
Fun lore fact: (for Forgotten Realms anyway) a lot of the most common wizard spells like Magic Missile were originally created by Netherese Arcanists back in the days of the Netherese Empire. So in world you could have a descendant suing the party wizard for residuals if you wanted a lighthearted judicial session.
Turns out making game breaking spells is super easy, barely an inconvenience
Dang it I was really looking forward to the shirt
As a newcomer to DnD, I will be using fireball quite often
Man that table is the most expensive looking and coolest table I have seen
Seems fitting
That ad was savage. 🤣
I love the fighter outfit!
Tip: Fireball's real AOE is actually 40. fireball has a radius of 20 feet. a radius is the point from the center of a sphere to the edge, meaning that fireball actually has an AOE (or Diameter) of a 40 foot sphere. Tell this to your DM to make them regret their life choices.
Ah fireball. The question when faced with any problem. The answer to said question. The cause of every problem due to the unintended consequences of every answer. Rinse. Lather. Repeat ad infinitum.
*TESTICULAR TORSION*
Ryan George, you lost your glasses!
@2:02 got vibes of Futurama when Zapp is on trial for blowing up DOOP headquarters.
His wizard is wearing violet vestments in advance of Lent 😂
For our campaign one of my characters is a cat sorcerer with access to the entire sorcerer spell list so you have this teeny tiny level 5 sidekick doing more than some of our actual damage dealers
Did not need to do qwertee dirty like that😂
Awesome work.
That table sounds so cool. And so expensive.
I like the goblin idea
1:53
Goblin Slayer would approve
When you get the Staff of Power that has several slots of fireball, just start blasting like it's a bazooka.
now make the first wizard to use TESTICULAR TORSION
What I expected: D&D memes
What I got: Ryan George D&D edition... NICE 😆
I was thinking too logically when the wizard said he could make money off of the spell. I assumed he was going to sell the spellbook with the spell written in it.
Just my pedantic rules self. It's actually a 40 foot sphere. It's 20' in radius
I was just watching one of MatPat's Theory channels before this video, and the name of the sponsor had me confused for a bit. 😂
Costuming top notch
had a sorcerer named Ajkast Fajbal. Guess what her favorite spell was
I think the d20 fireball shirt might actually be a magic the gathering thing. They track life with spin down d20s and there's a 3 card combo to do 20 damage instantly that ends with fireball
It’s Wizard time.
Massive Ryan George vibe
Now i am become death, destroyer of worlds.
Isn’t it 20ft radius? And this 40 ft diameter?
do wirazds at wizcon talk about how big their biggest fireball was?
What i would love to see is a little dnd skit where the bard has to roll to save himself from being seduced by any and all npcs so he doesnt lose his virginity to anyone but his soon to be fiance but no one in the party with him tries to help him out at all and just tries to enjoy the chaos that happens.
A flaming D20 on a shirt omg he'll yea🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
20ft radius makes it seem smaller than it really is
I have that shirt. It’s great.
Shout out to Lightning Bolt when you need to clear a hallway!
That Wizard really put some points in Inteligence, and become a Marketing Genius, finnaly he'll have enough gold for his Material Components :v
you seem to be replying to a lot of comments saying ryan george so ryan george
Why not cast with the ball of your foot?
And suddenly, I realize this is like a D&D Ryan George video.
FIREBALLLL
you can marry a touch-screen now?
Saying it's a '20 ft sphere' is misleading.
The radius is 20 ft, but the diameter is 40 ft.
Archmage Oppenheimer
First time i saw a sponsor about a product that doenst even exist
So peter Griffin decapitated a goose so I have a goose head in my dnd session
What I love is the number of people, players and DMs alike, that forget fire spells will ignite anything flammable in the vicinity that isn't being worn or carried. This includes, but is not limited to, thatch roofs, wood, forests, clothing, acids, oils, shops, orphanages, certain metals, dung, woodland creatures, hair and fur (since it is neither being worn nor carried, it is grown), etc.
I love that you casually included orphanages in this list. XD
Cast Thunder Spell-
that's not how wizards monetize their spell
the spell fee is diamonds wort X amount of gold (or similar) and when casted, it get's teleported to the wizard owning the rights
The table looks really cool but I can't afford a 6k table that won't get used
Lighting ball > fireball.
Actually the way fireball is cast is the caster sends a tiny spark that explodes. 🤓
