I NEVER LIKED JOSEPH FORTE! Stunted Growth

  • As professional athletes coming into any professional sports, you don't get to determine where you will play for the first years of your career. You don't get to pick your coach, teammates, GM or fans like you do in college. Sometimes it works out for you and sometimes it doesn't. Here's an athlete it didn't workout for as of now. Here's 3 reasons why I think their growth was abruptly stunted. Who knows, maybe they'll return to form. I sure hope so. Thank you for watching. I love how passionately liking someone's game goes without saying and is never deemed emotional, but not liking someone's game with the same passion is considered personal... I honestly have nothing against this player. I just don't like anything about his game, at all. Point blank, so quit with the soft, it's personal shit. SG, yours truly.

      Stunted growth, hopefully you'll reply, but would you consider all of your videos personal then??? Because I hear the passion in all of them.
      Also, shitting on a guy isn't wrong if it's warranted and proven. As a UNC fan at the time I fondly remember his slabness so I agree. I just didn't think you showed enough examples for proof...

    Yes he didnt do well in the NBA, but going back in time and saying he wasnt ever any good isnt true, he was a really good college player and that dematha team is remembered as one of the best ever. both florida and unc had multiple longtime nba players on there rosters, and that duke team shown was absolutely stacked. so the level was always high and Mike Miller wasnt just a shooter back then. More of a multifaceted athletic wing that wasted his best years on bad teams.International players werent thought of as sure things by any means and film wasnt readily available. Tony parker wasnt an obvious selection back then, hence why so many other teams passed on him. Have some context when watching these videos

    There is one thing that hampered Joseph Forte from developing into an NBA star.That was the Boston Celtics ,the NBA team that drafted him.The Celtics drafted him as a Shooting guard,but they never believed in Joseph Forte.They believed that he was too short to play the shooting guard position in the NBA.Despite the fact that Forte was killing the opposition playing shooting guard for the Celtics in the the NBA summer league.The Celtics tried to switch him to point guard and sat him on the bench his rookie season while he tried to learn how to play the point.The lack of faith,trust and confidence that the Celtics had in Forte to play the shooting guard position ,despite the fact that he proved that he could in the NBA summer league began to anger,frustrate and affect Forte mentally and the lack of playing time hampered his growth.This shows how important it is to be blessed enough to be drafted by a NBA team that supports and believes in you.

      True, and the fact is - 6'4" isn't too small to play 2-guard either. He's certainly a short shooting-guard, but guys like Joe Dumars, Rickey Pierce, Hersey Hawkins, Anthony Edwards, Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Tony Allen, JJ Reddick, Jeff Hornacek, and fellow former Tar Heels star Rashad McCants all were only 6'4" and had varying degrees of success in the league.

    Forte was straight up that dude when he was at UNC.
    Would be easier to point to his immaturity as his fatal flaw, because this dude could absolutely ball.
    I mean, you knock his shooting -- dude shot 45/38/85 and scored 20.9PPG as a sophomore. Dude was a straight killer from the mid-range, and given his size, would rebound with anyone. Went off in a win for 24/16/6 in Cameron against a Duke squad that had Dunleavy, Boozer, Battier, Duhon, Williams.
    One of the few saving graces from the Guthridge era.

    • @elliemyers6435
      @elliemyers6435 Před rokem

      The year Joe went off in Cameron was actually Matt Doherty coaching, and he was a trainwreck...Gutheridge made two final fours in three years, hard to really slam anyone who does that. But Bill was fine, Doherty was more problematic (missed the tourney 2/3 years including that dreadful 8-20 2002 season)

    I just remember one play by him (I was a religious ACC watcher when MD was still in the conference) where he dribbled at top speed down the court, stopped on a dime at the baseline, then squared up at that no-man's-land of 8 feet or so from the hoop then rainbowed a perfect swish.
    Was Rasheed on that team? Because all he could do in college was berserker dunk, but turned out a solid pro. Total opposite.

      @@johnplum9377 number four pick. His game coming out of college was never going to work, you say he adapted but dude played that way his whole life. His wingspan wasnt acceptable no reliable jumpshot and no ball skills, he came out to early. He was Thomas Robinson in the right era. That sound like a stunted growth to me

    • @johnplum9377
      @johnplum9377 Před 4 lety

      @@airealarmour3281 14yr career says otherwise my friend. Nice try. Average career of an NBA players is 4.5yrs. But you can have your opinion while I speak facts. Just because your opinion is that he wasn't good doesn't negate the fact that he played in the league from 20002-2016. That's called having a solid career......he was a role player. Every top 10 draft pick doesn't become a star....many become solid role players which Drew was. If you actually watched basketball you'd know Drew Gooden had a decent career. He wasn't a draft bust either. Draft bust flame out of the league after their rookie contracts like Anthony Bennett did.

      Stunted growth doesnt mean a bum just mean he played himself short. J.R smith has long career but would you agree he is a stunted growth?

    • @johnplum9377
      @johnplum9377 Před 4 lety

      @@airealarmour3281 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️ no he has a damn ring and a few finals appearances. Stunted Growth means their career was a bust or didn't go as planned. Nothing stunted about Gooden or JR Swish's careers. J.R....played his role as automatic offense off of the bench for almost a decade until he got to the Cavs .....he became a 3&D guy for them and helped lead them to a ring and a few finals appearances. You're trying very badly to be correct now. Talk basketball and not your opinion.
