I played with Earl with the Clippers 2001-2002 and he was best player at his size 5’5 I’ve EVER scene play! He was super gritty on both ends of the floor. Much love to EB✊🏿🙌🏿💯
Why is he a stunted growth!? This man played like he was 8ft tall- played to the MAXIMUM of his abilities. He is one of the greatest OVERACHIEVERS in NBA history. He didn’t let being 5’5 stop him. He is literally one of two reasons why all guys under 5’10 think they have a shot in the NBA!!
Absolutely. Earl's growth was in no way stunted. He defied almost every odd - undersized, mid major, undrafted, and became a good NBA player that lasted over a decade in the league. Definitely no stunted growth here.
@@elliemyers6435 Absolutely!! His story is so inspiring. Him and Muggsy Bogues are the stuff of legends and should be celebrated for lasting over a decade against competition most cases a foot taller than them at the same position - Earl especially came along in the trendy "Big Point Guard" era after Magic, Penny, and Gary Payton. I saw Early Give the Wizards 40 one night and thought it was the greatest thing I ever saw. He was Unstoppable on fire.
He’s legit pound for pound one of the best athletes ever in the nba. He weighed like 170 at the most usually 160 ish. He could bench 315 for reps and he at 5’5” competed with the best of the best. Imagine if he was 6ft 6. He’s be top 50 all time.
I’m way out of my prime but this is still inspiring! Never know how your future or your child’s future will become if you just put them in position and being there.
I didn't know he that long of a career.. I only remember him on the nuggets for like a couple of years...dude was good...I also heard dude was a monster in the gym..could bench like 350..athletic and all around
I don't see how his growth was stunted at all....He went to a mid major, didn't get drafted, and then played 13 years in the league and averaged close to double figures for his career despite only being 5'5". Not everyone is projected to be a superstar when they enter the draft (and Earl for damn sure wasn't), so him becoming a good, reliable NBA role player is a terrific achievement for him
I mean I believe it my classmate went undrafted and only got 1 summer league shot with the Warriors and has a successful overseas career in basketball.
I'll never forget when me and my cousin went to a Heat and Bucks game in 07. My cousin goes.....Oh my God, they let a "little kid" play on the court. She was talking about Earl Boykins.
bigs shout out to all my short Hooper's I'm 5'6 and played all over when I was young not in the pros but different men league earl was a great player competitive but humble
I went to EMU during the time Earl was there, man... Earl was a beast! I swear I never seen a dude other than Michael Jordan get tripled teamed!!! He was so dominant in college, Yea Earl was that deal, beat h oe a ss Duke and Michigan too....
To me he’s not a stunt growth Earl Boykins was an OVERACHIEVER in my eyes, Earl was 5’5” 133lbs and to average 9pts and 3asts in the league of giants it’s truly remarkable.
Great video and definitely nothing but respect for Cousin Earl! He was of the few college and NBA players that I could actually see myself being compared to when I played.
Man bro I love your channel!!! Good video forreal!!! I would love to see videos about Tyson Chandler for the bulls & Jajuan Johnson “Purdue star player” he kinda was out of the NBA right away.
I will say this...if he was at least six feet?...he would have been a monster...his heart cannot be questioned...I got one thing to say...HE MAY BE SMALL..BUT HE AINT LITTLE!!!
What a great video on a player that basically maxed out his skill level and had a solid NBA career (spotlights on obscure players like Boykins are the most interesting IMO). I remember that 1996 Eastern Michigan team so well, as they played a really competitive 2nd round game against my UConn Huskies (led by Ray Allen) in the 1996 NCAA tourney. Boykins had a good 1st half, but UConn's size at PG (Doron Scheffer at 6'5") bothered Boykins the 2nd half. Brian Tolbert went crazy that game and trash talked Ray Allen all game LOL. I even remember a young Gus Johnson calling the game on CBS! Damn I feel old :)
How was his growth stunned . He shouldn't even be there because of his height. And if they would have really given him a chance he would have had multiple 20+ years in da nba
Nate Robinson once said in an interview that he tried to post up Earl in a game and couldn’t move him an inch. Earl Boykins really is as strong as a 160 pound ant
Ndi Ebi, Travis Outlaw, Rashard Carruth, Jeff Trepaigner, Pierre Pierce, Imari Sawyer, Curtis Sumpter, Eric Barkley, Donnell Harvey keep up the solid work ✊🏾
Got to see him play in High School, he dunked on the tallest guy on our team during the game, pretty sure it was his junior year at Cleveland Central Catholic, I went to Lake Catholic. Our tallest player was 6-5, so a full foot taller than Boykins, and he just came down the lane and yammed over him, it was nuts.
Yes! One of the greatest talents to not make the NBA. The best player I've ever saw play HS basketball. He was a McDonald's all-american at 5'9" and a wizard with the rock.
As a former short hooper I loved seeing Earl out there holding it down salute.
Earl was nice on 2k
Same here… Short Ballerz Matter!
I know you ain't just lowercase this man's name 😂 get tf 😂 I love this page
😂
Lmao you peeped that. Thanks for pointing it out lmaoooo
Brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
He really did lol
He definitely didn't have career stunt growth he played 13 years.
He did his growth
His growth was stunted.. literally 🤣🤣
@@RonnyTheGamer ok 👍 joker that's funny. . . 😆 lol
@@RonnyTheGamer haha come on man I’m 5”8
Much RESPECT for Boykins for playing 13 yrs in the nba,I remember watching him play in the nba.
I was at the Clipper game watching Earl Boykins. He made an And1 layup and the woman next to me said "He's like the little engine that could."
Earl had a nice run with the Nuggets.
I played with Earl with the Clippers 2001-2002 and he was best player at his size 5’5 I’ve EVER scene play! He was super gritty on both ends of the floor.

you were on the clippers?
wow i just looked your name up, cool
Y'all know y'all had to double team tho when he got posted up lol

@@AnthonyWilliams-vx8ul yep mando! Lol
Earl Boykins made a half-court shot in the MAC Tournament to get into March Madness. It was surreal
I was coached by big earl when I was in middle school. Great, humble guy.
Heard Earl was strong as fuck like benching 315 while weighing 133

No Stunted he is from a short/average family.
S/O to all the teams he’s ever played for that gave him a chance. Being 5’9”, I’ve always rooted for the short players.
He was 5'5 bro

One of my favorite players in the early 2000s. Legend has it he could dunk and bench 300lb+

He was that dude. I respected his game a lot. His height didn't matter to me. Those skills were👌 Definitely a quality Muggsy-esque player.
Same here.
Early Boynkin, that's my guy repping the 5 and alive (ft up but not 6 feet) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m way out of my prime but this is still inspiring! Never know how your future or your child’s future will become if you just put them in position and being there.
Earl Boykin is a success story period. He already had a stunt growth being 5 5
Notice JC Stunted Growth made him have a "Growth Spurt". Earl was that dude.
maybe hes normal size and people are too tall?
Man earl was that guy. I’m a Michigan native so I got to watch him up close. But I had no idea he played 13 years in the league. Great video
You should do a series for "Pint Size" players under 6'0. Kay Felder is another undersized player you make a video on next 💯
Earl was super fun to watch. You skipped on Mike Bibby though on the draft list. Early had a solid career but I wouldn’t say better than Bibby.
Yeah he tripping on that one
Earl Boykins was my guy at Eastern. Great talent small stature. His limitations showed in the NBA but he was a competitive player.

I used to love watching Earl play, I remember reading he benched 300+ and to me that was amazing since it's double his weight!
Good statistic, never knew the nba average years of playing was 4.5 years. 👍

He didn't get much of a chance with the clippers. But golden state gave him a chance and he surprised the hell out of them avg 9 or 10 points a game
I loved him when he was with Denver. He can ball.
Great subject & great coverage S.G.
Made me keep hooping respect to Boykins
I think he meant “Stunted Growth” literally 🤣Definitely had a a nice ass career
Played against him in highschool. He was the quickest dude I ever saw.
