  • Jay Williams, formerly known as Jason Williams, was named the 1999 McDonald's Player of the Year and maintained a 3.6 GPA during his senior year at St. Joseph's High School (New Jersey). Williams attended Duke University for three years, being named to the NCAA AP All-American First Team following both his sophomore and junior seasons. After declaring for the NBA Draft in 2002, Williams was selected second overall by the Chicago Bulls and averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 assists over the course of a rookie season that'd culminate in being named to the All-Rookie Second Team. Following his rookie season, Williams was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Chicago that resulted in a dislocated knee, three torn ligaments, a dislocated pelvis, severe nerve damage in his left foot, a severed artery, and a hamstring torn from the bone. These injuries signaled the end of Williams' NBA career. Williams has since found a second calling as college basketball analyst for ESPN.
