This is definitely a petrol vs electric drag race you weren’t expecting to see today!
We’ve got Mark McCann in his Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and he’s lining up against Mat in a Kia EV6!
This is no normal EV6, though, it’s the EV6 GT! As a result, this EV is equipped with two electric motors that can produce an incredible 585hp and 740Nm of torque! It’s pretty heavy though, with its 77kWh battery pack helping it tip the scales at 2,125kg! However, it’s still relatively cheap, coming in at £63,000.
As for the Lambo, well it’s a whole lot more expensive, costing around £380,000! Naturally, though, it’s packed full of power, with its 6.5-litre V12 good for 770hp and 720Nm. It’s much lighter than the Kia, too, coming in at 1,525kg.

I cannot believe how accessible this type of performance has become, 600hp 20 years ago was hypercar power and now a random kia is even faster than that
I remember when the Viper came out with 400hp. We thought that was crazy at the time.
Hot hatches hitting 60 in sub 4 seconds and routinely having 400bhp, when I first started driving 130bhp was a powerful car 😂

We would just watch The lambo winning all the episode, the Kia has just a better launch but the lambo overtakes easily after a few seconds. That’s why he brings the audi because it can compete with lambo

Yeah I only skim through these videos. I had no idea why they are calling an Audi a Kia so I came down here to find out and now I have no interest. On to the next.
I just got my Kia ev6 gt last week…traded my 2018 Audi a4 for it and i must say im in love with the car the ride quality is amazing the interior and features are top notch i do not have any form of buyers regret at all! The only downside are the lines at the charge station then having to charge for 30 mins! But they gave me 3 years free charging. I guess the only downside to the car itself are the fact that the seats are manual and not electric I mean a 60k price tag you would think they would be but! I mean with everything else the car offers you definitely will not care about having to adjust the seat manually
I had a look at the interior of this car at show, and honestly it just looks like a space ship, it was so clean and tidy and extremely well designed I just thought I might have to get one

Damn I was looking at the EV6 today and almost ordered one. After seeing what the GT model can do I'm blown away! Price Tag is way out of budget... I think I'll hold off and see what Hyundai does with the new Ioniq 6 that looks kind like a Porsche Taycan.

Kia has come a very long way to even be put in the same match as an Aventador SVJ. Kudos to Kia.

Lamborghini makes the gear changes extra rough so it looks wilder and feels stronger. You could also set it much softer.

He should’ve got the dust and mud out of his Lambo’s air filters since it became slow AF now. But I doubt he is smart enough to guess it.

Yep. I drove a leaf in 2011 - as soon as I did I knew that was the future. For comparison, imagine your cordless drill or hairdryer being petrol powered 😂

The trouble is with EV's when you put your foot down the range goes from 300 miles to 30 miles then you have to spend 30 minutes sat drinking a Costa fortune coffee waiting for the required charge to get home . (assuming the F**king chargers aren't occupied or F**ked up !!). Tried them and got rid in the UK we don't have the infrastructure (we can't even maintain Grid capacity at peak times FFS !! so how are we all going electric!!. Total bollocks !!. And as for this total Earthshot crap prize , it has cost more in private jet fuel and securtity than what the prize winners are getting. It's like putting a sticky plaster over a severed head !!.,
@@colingregson8653 you do realize high end gas cars do not have good range either right? It's only been recently in the last few years that automakers have been forced due to laws and regulations to focus on fuel economy. most older cars do not have amazing fuel economy. EVs just need time as well for the battery technology to show the potential. Lucid is already giving us commercial cars with that ability and we've seen researching changing Tesla's battery pack to new technology they've been working on getting past 800 range. The reason why charging feels bad is because in the west companies aren't making enough. Compared to in Korea where the infrastructure is actually decent . GM has already said they're going to do something similar to Tesla and focus on building more charges over the next few years. New EVs will charge 0-80 in under 20 minutes.
Kia really upped their game in the last years. Especially developing that EMS (exterior morphology system), that’s just some awesome engineering! 😍👌🏻

In looks I think the KIA is still rubbish. Quality wise too. The only point one can have is that the German car manufacturers stepped down their game lately quality wise. So yeah they are closer. But I generally would say.. I'd rather have an older top range German car than a KIA.

@Jimmy Two Times Price only becomes relevant if your main goal for purchasing the car is to do straight line 0-60 or 1/4 mile pulls in which case I would buy an EV every time. People that spend 700K on an SVJ could care less about that, otherwise they would have bought an RS3 or similar and modded it to run in the nines..
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.

Ran into one of these lastnight. It was really unsuspecting I didnt think KiA made anything this fast.
As a kid, I fell in love with the Countach. In my 40s and 50s, I fell in love with the Aventador. I even touched one once, and then got chastised by the showroom concierge for touching it...This video is so satisfying.
Honestly me too a fan of supercars. Chisato Nishikigi also ever test drived the Cizeta V16T.

It blows me away that these shows have to put an electric family SUV, against a £380,000 Lambo just to beat it. The EV6 is a hell of a car.

Matt never, ever disappoints and this out of this world drag race is no exception. I expected this to be close and indeed it was close. The V12 power of the Lambo prevails but man, those EV's are insanely fast off the line.

About a year ago I was driving down a countryside road at about 60mph and a Tesla ahead of me had done a 3 point turn actually in the road.
He ended up pointing towards me, in my lane, and like every other desperate driver in history, he pushed his accelerator pedal into the carpet, his back end wobbled side-to-side but he soon reached warp speed. LOL
I’m confused, is this launch control just for the start or do these guys have no need to shift the whole drag? I don’t see any of them shifting at all. Is it just all automatic now?
Can you do a drag race with the EV6 GT in Drag Mode? Allegedly that is actually the fastest mode from standing as allowing more slip actually maximizes grip (I know that sounds counterintuitive).

"All of us" - no. Not me. Who cares about which one is faster? Eletric cars have their advantages and disadvantages. Straight line acceleration from 0 cleary is one of the adavantages. Massive amount of power for low money - also an advantage. Does this take away from the fascination of a V8/V10? For sure not.

You make it as a joke, but both Hyundai/Kia group is a major investor in Rimac group alongside VW. Rimac tech is in both kia and VW products, so woudnt be surprised if Kia worked alongside with VW/AUDI on this project, thus the similarity.

Mark's reaction time has definitely improved compared to previous races. That SVJ still going strong despite all the craziness Mark puts it through is impressive. The EVs, especially the KIA, are really impressive. If only the SVJ had a good slick DCT...💨

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that that SVJ is driven uniquely and enjoyed by it's owner. I just don't think it's the right car for Carwow's drag races because it will never be an accurate depiction of that car's performance. An SVJ that hasn't been punished off-roading will deliver much better results.
When comparing prices or looking at aerodynamics, this is an impossible result. Well done Kia, Good content!

i am really excited about the ev6 gt but also cant wait for the ioniq 5 N. RIght now im driving an i30N and this car made my love hyundai as a manufacturer and brand more and more. i didnt think of buying an electric car until i heard about the ioniq 5 N. it looks so great and with this amount of power, acceleration and the look for like 60k euros is awesome. have to safe my money from now on. but beside that, there are still other problems here in germany about buying and charging electric cars...so i'll wait the next 5-6 years and then we will see what has changed and if its affordable and comfortable to drive an electric car like that.
That was quite an interesting match up, the Lamborghini showed its power, but the Kia and etron did well to actually keep up based on the price differences.
This would be a good race with YANNI!!! The speed of that Kia would have blown him away
