Kiles primer sealer latex first would have been better to paint before you put your color coat of paint over that wood? Was thinking that wood over the ship lap was put on as a form of insulation as maybe the wind blow through the shiplap in the winter?? So excited for them that you are doing this for them 💗
Great progress so far. Wouldn't it be nice if the body could perform tasks as rapidly as the mind is formulating ideas. Hopefully you can stay on pace. Uncovering the beadboard was godsend.
Don't be too sure of what you think people should know. My husband thought it was okay to hang pictures on the wall with HUGE screws. We once had a leak under our sink and he thought the entire sink cabinet would need to be replaced. I have a fantastic husband, but a handy man he is not!!!
You may want to paint that transition board and put it back up between the different ceiling slates, where that space is. It looks so kewl! You also may want to put some quarter inch round or concave on to cover the wee space between the ceiling and wall out by the stairs!
More work. Less talk.😂😂😂 I want to see the finished renovation....like right now!! Uuuuugh!! The suspense is killing me! I have no patience...can you tell?!?! That beadboard is so nice. I hope if you ever find out why it was covered up, that you'll let us know. ❤❤
What a meaningful gift! Having just experienced the limitations of back pain, I have a new perspective on DIY. I've always been able to jump in and fix things that bothered me (maybe not right away, but eventually) and have never been so limited in what I can do. I'm sure "Mom and Dad" have had all kinds of things bugging them about the place that would have been a real challenge to do. Coming home to a new, fun, serene space will be such a lovely surprise. I hope you and Phil have time for a long nap when it's done and has been revealed!
I have a sneaky suspicion that you're not sleeping much this week. I know I wouldn't. Too excited. You seem to be working from sunup and passed sundown. ...but it is so worth it to get it done before they come back. It is only one week, and hopefully you will catch up on that sleep soon. I have no doubt that this is going to be spectacular and they will love it. 💖☮️☀️
This is the only way I can leave a comment. I think they are going to love this . I can't believe they put plywood over the shiplap. Then the flooring on the wall. Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma
What is more Coastal than SHIPlap?? The farther you go with removing the old coverings, the more tickled I get!! It’s going to be so much lighter and brighter! And you haven’t added color yet other than the neutral on that one wall. Loving this❤
Nooooooo! This was too short. I'm jumping up and down here! So much changed just from taking out the "wood". The day bed location bothers me. Could it be a Daybed/table bench? You know those bench seats on one side and chairs on the other? Just a nice narrow table. I love the view out the glass doors and having breakfast or dinner there woukd be so wonderful. Growing up we had a neighbor that had that wood paneling all throw their house. My dad called their house "Masonite Manor!" LOL
Lots of fire wood😂. Please remove the blinds and put up curtains. Drop cloth curtains are nice and look a bit like linen. You can paint a pattern on them at a later date with fabric paint and your cricket. You are going to make the place look so nice and you don't want your hard work ruined by vertical blinds. I am currently in NL otherwise I would help you this weekend.
My dad’s was of the mind that the bigger the nail, the stronger the hold. All of the pictures in my childhood home were hug with what he called ten penny nails. It didn’t matter if it was an 8x10 or an 16x30! It became a joke in our home.
Elysia make sure to get some expert advice before painting the weathered cedar shingles on the house. Weathered old shingles cannot be painted, they can, however, with preparation, be stained. If painted they will peel badly within a year. The trim, however, is another thing. Cape Cod has a lot of weathered shingled houses that are beautiful. If you decide to go with a stain, I would suggest spraying.
This is awesome. I needed to see this to get me motivated. I'm finally getting the back bedroom done. Everything is in the living room. I told my husband it stays until we paint the room. It's going to be white which will definitely make it look larger. I can hardly wait to see your project done. ❤️🙏✝️👍
Im so excited for ur design and color i have butterflies😂❤ the tiles ur making I WANT🎉 Amazing Elisha. Good work phil. And the boys hold8ng down the fort and the doggies ❤ Team work at its finest all
Whomever owned this house wanted a mid-century modern looking house. Hence the Luan paneling with grommets everywhere. They only covered up the good stuff. Thank God for that!
It's very nice you're in the position to help Phillips family! Does Phillips brother live anywhere near you? Im excited to see the finished project! I know they will be so thankful.
U r always up for an adventure! Have u considered re-hanging the front door so that it opens outdoors instead of indoors?? That would free up so much space in the small entryway!
I can tell already that it will look so much more like a cozy seaside dwelling. I can just see some textiles or even colorful snuggly blankets for those windy chilly evenings. So gorgeous! It reminds me of my own childhood visiting relatives who farmed close to Lake Superior.
I like the color you choose for the windows, that's going to look really nice, the ceiling looks like it's going to be a little bit of a challenge with the glossy white paint that is up there, definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with that.. 😊
do you think the previous owners covered that beautiful wood because they were worried about lead in the paint? Just trying to see why anyone would do that so glad you uncovered it.
that is the most beautiful piece of property. What a blessing to have that in your family. I was wondering, do you guys have to pull permits for indoor work? I’m asking because I have no clue. lol I really love this episode
Hi, it's looking good. Maybe you can talk them in to extending their trip for a couple of days, just tell them you're working on a little surprise for them, and you need a couple of extra day's. Since they're retired and don't need to return for work, maybe they'd agree. Worth a try, to give you all little extra time.
Wow I love getting the videos everyday. Its so exciting to see all the plans you have made for your family I live in Newfoundland and the weather this week is beautiful. I hope your parents are enjoying themselves.
This is so much fun watching you two work on the house. And what a wonderful gift. I can't wait for the next episodes to see how it all comes together. Great Job Guys!!
I was thinking the reason for the flooring on the walls might have been used to keep the cold out sort of like an insulation. Maybe you'll need to check what's behind the shiplack boards for insulation.
Well who's with me for an hour episode?! I cant get enough of this!!! ❤
Totally!! 💯💯 But I understand they have to work too. LOL.
Me too,But Elysia needs time to edit and upload. She's incredible! You too Phil.❤
Elysian less talk more work girl, you’re never going to finish, and I’m all in to see the finishing product.
I would love it as well, but I think the time crunch prevents that!!!
It probably takes them hours to just do what they all are doing💞
I am torn between qanting to see the end product and not wanting the series to be over too quickly

Just painting that one wall made such a difference!!
Great progress so far. Wouldn't it be nice if the body could perform tasks as rapidly as the mind is formulating ideas. Hopefully you can stay on pace. Uncovering the beadboard was godsend.
This is very sweet of you both to under take this on for your Mom and Dad . They will be so thankful

Sounds like mine
My husband is the same way & can't cut a straight line. Lol
Your parents are very lucky to have a daughter-in-law and a son. It will be beautiful when you get it done

Never have i clicked a channel so fast as this series unfolds!
aww thank you!!!
I need to share this series with my son and daughter in law! I would even donate the $1000 to get them to do it!
Right!!! Then when she is talking; I’m like can’t you talk and paint at the same time!!! There’s a deadline!!!😂😂😂 I’m getting anxiety waiting!!!😂😂
@@kuttfam0191😂
When I paint, I "always" drip!!! And I think to myself, how does Elysia do it? Thank goodness you showed me you are human! 😄
That paint is really brightening up the place.
Thanks for sharing.
I can’t wait to see mom & dad’s reaction. You guys all great ❤️🙏🏽 Tyfs!
What a transformation already. The lighter color looks Fabulous!!!
Do you have any plans for covering that cable line running above the day bed?

This is so exciting. Just a base coat on the walks has made such an impact. Looking forward to episode 4!
Can't wait for the finish of kitchen and ceiling done too!!
Elysian, you are a “get ur done” woman!
The ceiling may have oil paint on it so you may need a good primer before you paint it. It's definitely going to be nice and bright!
Such a beautiful thing to do for the parents , I so love it …. We may need a 1 to 2 hour episode
Ok with what you found with taking things
down and painting the one wall. It already
looks so much better than before.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I would NEVER have covered those ceilings! Praying for strength for Elysia and Phil!👍👍
If you two start a decorating business you could call it Two Novas and a Butter Knife.
😂
Tomorrow just can't come quick enough! That's so awesome that the ceilings were all there!
Even painting the walls and ceiling a light colour is a huge improvement! I’m looking forward to seeing the end result!
I can't wait to see how it turns out and your in-law's reaction!

Taking down that brown wood makes everything so much lighter & brighter.
Phillip & Elisha this will be a wonderful surprise for a Phillips Mom and Dad. You’re BOTH doing such a nice job.
So exciting, loving this makeover. Your parents have a beautiful piece of waterfront property.❤️❤️
It is awesome what you guys are doing for mom and dad And that bead board on the ceiling score 😊
My dad’s was of the mind that the bigger the nail, the stronger the hold. All of the pictures in my childhood home were hug with what he called ten penny nails. It didn’t matter if it was an 8x10 or an 16x30! It became a joke in our home.
Plywood was insulation probably.
That's what I was wondering if the house will be cold because all the gaps in the wood. It does look better though.
I am absolutely so excited to see this, I can’t wait for these episodes! I too, would love an hour long video! This is absolutely amazing!❤️❤️
I’m loving the progress so far !!! I think you just might make the deadline !!!! ❤
What a great surprise in store for Mom & Dad !!!!
I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!
What a gorgeous view you have there!
I wish there was less talking and more showing. Just set up a tripod and get going. You can voiceover what you’re doing.
Exactly what I was thinking 😁
I'm so invested in this!
You two are doing a awesome job it’s really going get surprise for those two when they come home 🏡. Well done both of you 🎉😂😂😂😂from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

Please don’t forget to test the paint! Oil or latex? Very important

You are so sweet to do this for your mum and dad, I love your videos ❤
You are so kind
Are you going to reclip the wiggly wire at the top of that wall so it's right at the top and straight?
Hopefully there is insulation in the walls.
Im so excited for ur design and color i have butterflies😂❤ the tiles ur making I WANT🎉 Amazing Elisha. Good work phil. And the boys hold8ng down the fort and the doggies ❤ Team work at its finest all
i can always make you some in some way shape or form (but not this week 😂)

This is just so amazing. You two are the happiest people in everything you do. I cannot wait to see how it turns out and when they get home.
I can’t imagine why someone would cover up all that beadboard. It’s going to look amazing when you are done.
Insulation.
@@vickiecrouch6041So will it be colder now? Is there anything they can do about that?
@@Desert-DwellerCaulk the gaps

You could put casters on the cabinet under the stairs so it can sit in front of the cabinet.
The previous owner probably put the wood on the ceiling and walls for warmth in the winter.
Good people working hard for others!
So excited for the big reveal!
Ur such a good daughter in law/ daughter, always loved u! Been watching since yall started on camper
Maybe a satin paint would be nice in the hall area, just a thought.
It's very nice you're in the position to help Phillips family!
Does Phillips brother live anywhere near you?

it will have an OVER TRANSFORMATION!

Do you still have the light you took down in your bathroom that you can use here? Im glad there's no holes and the beadboard is usable.
I absolutely love the beadboard always have always will! Very “Cottage”!
Looking great
Great fun, love the video. ❤
Looking good. Can’t wait to see the kitchen!
This is so much fun! I wish I could be there to help.
