- We officially have less than 24 more hours to get this house in order before we pick mom and dad up from their trip and surprise them with a home makeover on a budget! They are going to freak out!

The paint alone has made the world of difference. The red is perfect on the lower cabinets. But, all the special details are turning this make over into something uniquely amazing. Mom and Dad will be blown away.
I am so stressed! I want to fly up, pick up mum & dad and take them to lunch, dinner, whatever it takes to stall, stall, stall! I literally cannot wait for them to see it! They are so blessed! Love you, Mum & Dad, Elisha & Phil, Chase & Dayton! 💜
Elysia you could always buy a few more hours and stay behind faking illness when everyone else goes to pick up the folks.
I think the same. Maybe stomach. Elysia you will have 3 extra hours to finish any detail and will get to open the door to them and get their expressions first hand 😂. I say Phillip goes and the boys stay with you even if only to do the trash. I know you got this, but PLEASE listen when we say those 3 hours are precious at the house for you 🙏❤️ you all are too amazing love you guys 🤟🤟🤟🤟❤🥰🤗🤗

I started my painting business when I was around 50 years old. I already had arthritis in my hands. I ALWAYS used a 4" mini roller to paint because a 9" roller filled with paint was a killer on my hands. People who don't have hand pain do not understand. I often got complimented by clients for the speed at which I could get a job done with those tiny rollers.
I rescue furniture after working as a cook for 25 years , I understand how much pain that come with arthritis, my hands swell up by morning .
Was anyone else screaming, No! Don't put the countertop on before you attach the hardware to the 3 fake drawers!!! 😫
It makes me anxious when you stop to talk to us. 😆

I thought about that also but decided that they must be able to just screw the knobs into the fake drawers.
In my kitchen there aren't any knobs under the sink panels so just leave them off..everyone knows there are no drawers under the sink.
I screamed that to red cabinets 😂😂
You guys deserve an award for your dedication to your parents and this project. I'm sure they are going to love you all even more for all the work and you two for doing this for them.
Am I the only lunatic who continually interrupted my workday today to check youtube for your latest update on the kitchen???? I thought I'd lose my mind, waiting for it. I'm here thinking, "get the boys to paint triangles!!! Let the guys go pick up mom and dad so you can gain some extra time!" I feel like we're all in a marathon here and the anxiety is killing me LOL. This has been more interesting than a six part Netflix series that everyone binge watches....you go guys!!!

So much fun to watch. My husband and I did this in my mother-in-law’s bedroom in a weekend when she was gone. She loved the calming space we created for her.

I am not a red lover but I LOVE THAT RED! I think ur instinct is right any other color would not stand out as good with that red in the tiles.

I have been meaning to say how wonderful your boys are. Holding down the homefront while you are just busting butts there. They are first class sons. I am over the top about the kitchen. The minute the red went on, the kitchen got like 4 feet longer. I'm sitting here saying "Start the triangles!" What a blast! Your parents are going to flip out!!

I've really enjoyed these makeover videos! Painting the walls and revealing the old ceilings has made such a difference. The kitchen especially the backsplash is going to be my favorite part it's so cool.
I was admiring the tiles-wonderful, btw-then looked at the view out that kitchen window. What a wonderful place and home they have, and will have-plus what a family! ❤

The red is a bold choice, but surprisingly I like it. So far this is a big success and I'm so impressed with your design and colour sense. Phil is such a talented husband that is willing to tackle anything and also talented.

I was in full panic attack because it’s thundering and lightning and I hate it because of past trauma and I decided to get in bed and watch some CZcams and I opened my phone and I just finished watching the video and I am calm and relaxed and everything is going to be okay.. I love the DIYs and decorating but it’s the laughter and excitement that you guys have that makes everything feel good

It’s looking good. Some crown molding or other molding would look great where the walls and ceiling meet. The back splash is so cool.

Another option for the backslash is peel and stick tiles in the colors you want but cut into the triangles.

I love the red!!! I had been stressing about how you are going to put those drawer pull knobs on under the sink!! The plumbing is rigged and functional. I know you can still pull up the countertop but I was scared for the sink’s sake. Then I stopped and told myself, “Wait! This Elysia and Phil!! They’e got this with a ton of forethought and it’s all gonna be just fine!!” The IKEA cabinet is really cute in its smallness. I like the overall lines of it. It’s much more practical and nonintrusive in this kitchen. Great plan!! The living room is sooo nice from what was visible at this time. And you’re right. I/we are excited about this project!!!!!

She’s right😂 I’ve been using the small roller for over 20 years. It just makes since to use one roller that can squeeze into small places, get the corners, and doesn’t leave drip marks. Than to use multiple size rollers or painting gadgets. IJS!
